Tag-Along Customer - Need Statements


Question/Prompt Customer Statement Not one interviewee wanted to stand on platform, all wanted to sit Worried that the handlebars would hold the arms too high when Bicycle Seat was not liked. They would prefer a bench style seat, with some cushioning (possibly swing out to side to sit on then swing back forward) Many expressed diffiulty stepping up or lifting legs very high Need Statement Design for Seated use as the only / primary use mode Comfortable seat construction a must Seat with back & arm rests for support Seat pivots to allow easy boarding Seat to footrest distance should be easily adjustable Height of foot rest from ground should be minimized. Maximize rider comfort Proximity between driver & rider approximately 24"-36" No barrier between driver & rider to allow conversation Minimize extended length from vehicle Attractive design in a color that matches or complements my scooter. Must retract to as small a volume as possible.

Rider Needs/Wants Perspective

Balloon tires should be used to provide a better ride Arm's reach is preferred distance from operator to tag along rider Every person interviewed holds a convo at some point of operating scooter Every interviewee would feel comfortable operating a scooter with a tag-along attachment. Some interviewed had concerns regarding the aesthetics of the TagAlong being attached to their scooter. Scooter Operator Everyone liked the folding feature, some would not buy if it did not Needs/Wants fold up. Perspective Because they are mobility challenged, some scooter operators were concerned about how to retract the Tag-Along

Installation & Construction

The folding assembly must be light, Lift assist on retract feature to minimize force. Scooter operator can extend & retract while seated on the scooter I have arthritis & can no longer use hand tools Unit is easy to assemble / no assembly Unit is easy to install Dealership installation & service options One person was sketchy about the one wheel design, he wanted a full Sturdy construction with no chance of a structural failure with axle under the tag along. After I explained it to him better he seemed a rider on-board. to feel better about the one wheel design For a cost like $300+ it had better last. Minimal maintanence required Durable construction, no corrosion issues
