Specialisation Project Internal Assessment 100 Marks Sem-IV Guidelines for students:

Specialisation project is a year long project spread across IIIrd and IVth Semesters. The project shall begin in IIIrd semester (August) and conclude in IVth Semester (Feb). Title of the Project along with the proposed names guide by : 15th of August 2013 Submission of synopsis by Mentees to report to their Guide : 15th of September 2013 : Fortnightly

Synopsis:
Synopsis should have four paragraphs not more than 2 pages or 300 words. It should cover a. c: Significance of the problem with a background in brief. It should not be more than 150 words. Curiosity should be put into words without using personal nouns/ pronouns b. Objectives: There should be two or three objectives, not more than three. Each objective should be clear.(one page) c. Methodology: How the student is going to achieve these objectives should be penned down with sequence of procedures. For instances, The information regarding situation would be gathered from companys reports, companys website, newspapers, journals and chairmans speeches/ records. The information so received would be systematically put into pattern and trends would be analyzed. Primary data would be gathered by survey through in-depth interviews or by questionnaire. Questions would be closed ended or open endedetc. All the procedures to analyze data so acquired should be described in advance. Data can be primary or secondary or both. How data has been gathered or analyzed should be clearly written. Students should use regression, multiple regressions (test coefficients of independent variables, goodness of fit and overall significance. Guide should check prior assumptions before allowing regression), ANOVA, ANACOVA, Validation of hypothesis, Chi square and non parametric test to

analyze the data. These techniques should be expressed clearly in synopsis. Avoid any kind of definition and theoretical explanations in Methodology part. d. Benefits of study : Students should clearly mention in a para what others are going to get by reading their report. Director would go through each and every synopsis and guidelines from director should be incorporated in the work. The Project work in the area of specialization will carry 100 marks, to be allocated as under: Situation Analysis & Problem Definition Literature Review Methodology of Study Data Analysis Conclusions & Recommendations Guides assessment of project progress of student. Guidelines for Guides

Guide should foresee a. Whether student would be able to get proper information / data on the subject? b. Whether student would be able to analyze the information? Whether he knows tools of analysis? c. Whether student is equipped/has knowledge to tackle such issues? d. Whether a report can be completed in 4 months working 2 hours a day, say? e. Whether such analysis would benefit others? After submission of the synopsis, students should be encouraged to start their work. After every 15 days, guide should ask for their report.
