State Senate Candidate Jason Lewis Starts 2014 with Over $109,000 Cash on Hand Raised $40,000 in final 20 days of year following announcement for 5th Middlesex Senate seat. Winchester Today, State Rep. Jason Lewis filed his year-end report with OCPF, reporting more than $109,500 cash on hand as he ramps up his campaign for the State Senate district left vacant by now-Congresswoman Katherine Clark. Lewis raised more than $40,000 in just 20 days since announcing his candidacy for State Senate on December 12, 2013. 287 donors contributed to Lewiss campaign, averaging less than $200 per donation. Im humbled by the outpouring of support for this campaign, Lewis said. To all of those who have supported me so far, thank you for your belief in me and your investment in our campaign. I have been out knocking on doors and meeting the voters of this district, and I am excited for the work we are going to do together over the next two months of the campaign, and beyond. While the other announced candidates in the race have not yet filed, Lewiss strong fundraising going into the new year puts him in a good position toward victory in the March 4th Democratic Primary. Lewiss campaign manager, Suzanne Schlossberg, credited Lewiss work ethic for the impressive showing. Jason Lewis is simply an effective and hardworking leader, so its no surprise to see things moving forward this fast, this well, she explained. So many people who have benefitted by his work and advocacy are showing they are willing to do what it takes to support him in this important election. Lewis serves as State Representative for the 31st Middlesex District, including Stoneham and Winchester. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Health, and co-founded the legislature's Prevention for Health Caucus. He's has led efforts in the legislature to improve the quality of healthcare for all and to ensure that all public schools receive adequate and equitable funding. Lewis attended public schools, and received his undergraduate degree and MBA from Harvard. He and his wife Susan, a middle school science teacher, are the proud parents of two daughters, Sophie and Jessie. Before Lewis was elected State Representative, he helped build two successful software companies, which created hundreds of high-tech, good-paying jobs. The Democratic Primary for the Senate will be held on March 4th, and the General Election will be held on April 1st. ###
