COURSE DESCRIPTION This course aims at building the necessary background and foundation in Digital Signal Processing (DSP). Basic DSP concepts covering sampling and aliasing, magnitude and phase response, z-transform and Fourier transforms are discussed. Some advanced topics such as design techniques for digital filters are also included in the course. Several application examples for key concepts are also presented (with an emphasis on biomedical signal processing).
COURSE OBJECTIVES Main goal of this course is to teach different theories and building blocks involved in developing digital signal processing applications. The course will also prepare students to study advanced and graduate level courses in electrical/computer engineering like digital communication, digital system design, signal detection and estimation, machine vision and image processing.
