Its main utilities are electrical power and a small amount of water. Air separation plants are categorized into one of two process classifications: cryogenic and non-cryogenic.
Cryogenic Plants
Produce gas and liquid products using very low temperature distillation to separate air components. These plants are used for high-capacity and highpurity applications.
Non-Cryogenic Plants
Produce gaseous products with near-ambient temperature separation processes, utilizing differences in affinity of materials for components of air in order to generate oxygen or nitrogen. These plants are typically cost effective for smaller capacity users.
Merchant Plants:
Capable of producing liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon at bulk liquid purity levels and various production rates. Standard designs from 300 STPD to 1000 STPD of liquid product, and purities up to UHP LOX and UHP LIN purity levels.
Custom Plants:
As the name implies, these are custom designed solutions to efficiently meet unique customer needs. These plants can be designed in sizes from 200 STPD to 5000 STPD oxygen per train, with the ability to integrate with customer processes to improve overall project economics. Oxygen purities are typically in the 95 to 99.8% purity range, and nitrogen in the 10 ppm to 1 ppm O2 range. By-products of LOX, LIN, and LAR are commonly produced for liquid storage. These liquids are then available for backup liquid vaporization and merchant market value added streams. These plants can be offered as equipment supply, or lump sum turnkey.
