About PGDIE

N
ITIE recognizes the growing need for qualified and trained
Professionals to apply engineering and managerial techniques to
increase productivity and improve effectiveness of organization
systems in all sectors of the economy. PGDIE, the flagship programme of
NITIE, started in 1971, has been designed to systematically educate and
develop professionals to undertake responsibilities pertaining to industrial
and management systems. This course is recognized by Govt. of India,
Association of Indian Universities and AICTE.

PGDIE mainly focuses on problem solving in industry in a cross-functional setting. The role of a PGDIEan is
that of an organizational consultant in various functions of business. The course covers Supply Chain
Management, Logistics, Operations Planning and Control, Operations Research, System Engineering, e-
Commerce, ERP, MIS, Marketing management, Financial management and Human Resources
Management, to name a few.

Scope of the Programme

The most distinctive aspect of the PGDIE program at NITIE is the flexibility that it offers. Whether it is
distributing products world wide, web enabling businesses, shortening a roller coaster line, streamlining
the supply chain, scheduling a fleet of aircrafts for an airline, managing banking operations or
manufacturing automobiles, it is all a part of a day's work for a PGDIEian.

PGDIE students were initially employed mainly in manufacturing sectors. In the past two decades,
however, PGDIEians have increasingly been employed by service sectors such as Consultancies,
Banking and Insurance sector, Telecom sector, Hotel Industry, Health Care Industry and Transportation
and Logistics. The tools and techniques used by Industrial Engineers in their work have developed
tremendously over the years.

Course Focus
In an effort to cope with enormous expansion, while continuing to maintain high academic standards, the
curriculum is structured into 30 compulsory courses and a wide ranging list of electives.

To put knowledge into practice and to leverage on academic inputs the students take up industry
internships in the form of:

SUMMER INTERNSHIP - 2 Months

FINAL INTERNSHIP - 4 Months

Leveraging the opportunity of being in the country’s commercial capital, students undertake various week-
end assignments to widen their knowledge sphere.

LAKSHYA
In this era of globalization where competition is the order
of the day, industries needed a platform to showcase
their excellence their excellence and share their rich
experience with other industries and to serve the cause
