Eduardo Garza (Latin America) Ichigo Kurosaki ( , Kurosaki Ichigo) is a Human who hasShinigami powers. He is also a Substitute Shinigami. Ichigo is the son of Isshin and Masaki Kurosaki, and older brother of Karin and Yuzu. Contents [show] Appearance Ichigo's most distinguishing feature is his spiky orange hair, a trait he has been ridiculed about for years on end. He is a fairly tall, lean-built young man with peach skin and brown eyes. He likes to wear tight clothes.[6] He has a tendency to wear shirts patterned with the number 15 because his name is a homonym for the number.[7] Since becoming a Shinigami, he has become noticeably more muscular, as noted by his sister Karin.[8] When in his spiritual form, Ichigo wears the standard Shinigami attire, with the addition of a strap across his chest. Initially, it was a thick brown belt to hold his Zanpakut sheath, but it later became a red rosary-like strap.[9] It is shaped like a kite with a flat top and bottom.[10] Ichigo's appearance has caused several people, including Jshir Ukitake, to note a similarity to Kaien Shiba, the former lieutenant of the 13th Division.[11] After training in the Dangai, Ichigo's hair grows considerably, and he is noticeably taller, as stated by his friends.[12] After Ichigo loses his Shinigami powers, his appearance reverts to the way it was before his Dangai training.[13] Seventeen months after defeating Aizen, Ichigo's overall appearance does not change, but he becomes taller and grows sideburns.[14]After regaining his powers, Ichigo's Shinigami attire consists of a thicker strap across his chest. He has four black vertical lines on his forearms and black, tattoolike bands crossing over his chest, wrists, and ankles. Similar bands, but with white ends, lie around his neck as collars.[15] Personality When he was younger, Ichigo considered his mother to be the center of his world, always smiling when he was with Masaki and regularly holding her hand.[16] Despite crying whenever he lost in a match at the dojo he attended, Ichigo started to smile again as soon as he saw Masaki when she came to pick him up.[17] At a very young age, Ichigo heard his father saying his name means "to protect one thing," which instilled in him a desire to protect his mother. When his sisters were born, he began attending a dojo for the sake of protecting them. Since then, the number of people he wishes to protect has continued to grow, causing Ichigo to risk his life to protect both the people close to him and complete strangers.[18][19][20] As a teenager, Ichigo is stubborn, short-tempered, strong-willed, and impulsive.[21][22] Despite claiming not to care about what other people think about him, he attempts to maintain a detached and "cool" image.[23] He generally keeps his face set in a near-permanent scowl, with his eyebrows

drawn together.[24] His outspoken, hot-headed demeanor is a trait Ichigo himself has acknowledged, and if somebody picks a fight with him, he cannot help fighting back. He coldly refers to his teachers as "instructors".[25] He is genuinely compassionate and empathetic towards others, promising to bring aPlus flowers[26] and a toy plane,[27] or soothing others when they become upset.[28] Ichigo is a capable student, ranked 23rd in his year at school, who studies regularly and does not neglect his schoolwork.[29] He works as hard as he does to overcome the misconceptions many have about him based on his hair color and fighting.[30] Ichigo hates fortune telling, horoscopes, feng shui, psychics, and anyone whose trade involves taking money from people for things they cannot see.[31] He has difficulty remembering people's faces and names.[32][33][34]Ichigo becomes extremely shy and uncomfortable around nude or immodestly dressed women, a fact both Yoruichi Shihin andRangiku Matsumoto have teased him for.[35][36][37] Ichigo is often disrespectful when talking to those older than himself, callingGenrysai Shigekuni Yamamoto "gramps" and referring to several of the Shinigami captains by their given names without using honorifics.[38][39][40][41][42] When it comes to fighting, Ichigo has a complex sense of honor; he regularly seeks to exact revenge for the cruel actions of his opponent, such as instilling the fear of being murdered in Shrieker and cutting off the right arm of Yammy Llargo in retaliation for him ripping Yasutora Sado's right arm off.[43][44] He often taunts and belittles his opponents when fighting, sometimes attacking without warning.[45] Ichigo has a strong desire to win his fights, but in what he views as a legitimate manner.[46] To this end, he has often refused the aid of his inner Hollow, even when knowing it would allow him to win.[47] Ichigo's resolve in battle can waver at times, which can impede his fighting prowess, and goes into a state of depression and self-loathing when he loses a major battle or lets a friend down.[48] Ichigo despises those who mistreat their allies in any way, even if they are his own enemies. He is disgusted when an individual berates his/her own allies, such as when Yammy calls Ulquiorra Cifer, Nnoitra Gilga, andGrimmjow Jaegerjaquez "trash".[49] He expresses anger towards those who go as far as attacking their own allies, stating he cannot forgive those who murder their own comrades.[50]

Quotes

"... If fate is a millstone, then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the wheel, then give me a strong blade, and enough strength... to shatter fate."[1] (To Rukia Kuchiki) "Are you any different!? You sacrificed yourself to save me that time!! At that time, were you thinking about complicated stuff like "this is my Shinigami duty"!? That's not what sacrificing yourself is!! At the very least, I'm different!! I haven't accepted any commitment. If things get bad, I might run away, since I'm not a good enough person to be able to sacrifice my

life for total strangers. But, unfortunately, I'm also not trash that can live happily without paying back his debts!" [2]

(To Acidwire) "Big brothers... you know why they're born first? To protect the little ones that come after them!! What kind of brother says that he'll KILL his own sister?! Even a MONSTER shouldn't say that!!" [3] "At first, I thought "I want to protect Mom." The ones to protect increased with the birth of my sisters. I kept going to a dojo for the sake of protecting them. I got a bit stronger. The ones I thought I wanted to protect became more and more." [4] (To Ury Ishida) "I'm not superman, so I can't say anything big like I'll protect everyone on earth. I'm not a modest guy who will say it's enough if I can protect as many people as my two hands can handle either. I want to protect a mountain-load of people." [5] (To Ganju Shiba) "I'm not a punk who can sit back and do nothing while somebody is going to die for his sake."[6] (To Yasutora Sado) "All right. Let's do this, Chad. You keep doing your thing and don't fight for yourself, but fight for me. And I will fight for you. If you put your life on the line to protect something, then I'll put my life on the line to protect it too." [7] (To Zangetsu) "It's meaningless to just live, it's meaningless to just fight. I want to win!" [8] (To Byakuya Kuchiki) "'Our pride', you said? So that pride you're saying to be so precious, is that connected to killing Rukia? Is it? Then I should stomp on it as you said. 'Cause that's why I obtained this Bankai!" [9] "Damn that Kenpachi! He really went all out chasing me down. That was scary as hell. His Reiatsu was terrifying. To think that I actually defeated someone like that. I don't even believe it myself." [10] (To Ulquiorra Cifer) "The difference in strength...what about it? Do you think I should give up just because you're stronger than me? I've always known you were strong. Nothing I see now will change my mind. I will defeat you, Ulquiorra." [11] (To Ulquiorra Cifer) "The one who sliced off your left arm and leg...was that me, as well? If so, then slice off my left arm and leg. The one who was fighting against you just now was a Hollow form acting whilst I was unconscious. That wasn't me. If we're going to settle this, then it's not fair unless I'm in the same condition as you to begin with!"[12] (To Ulquiorra Cifer) "I'm not gonna do that, all right?! What...What kind of screwed-up victory is this?!" [13] (To Yammy Llargo) "'Stands a chance'? It's not like I exactly stood a chance against any of my other enemies, either. I just defeated them because I had to. That's all. You think I care if you're

on a different level from the rest of the Espada? It's the same deal. If you're an enemy I have to defeat, I will. That's all."[14]

(To Isshin Kurosaki) "If you didn't tell me until now, you must have had your reasons. And that's your problem, not mine. I wouldn't know how to start. I can't think of any way of asking that wouldn't mean traipsing all over your feelings and staining them with dirt. So I'll wait. Until you decide someday that you want to tell me, until you decide it's time for me to know. Until that time comes, you don't have to say a thing."[15] (To Gin Ichimaru) "I'm not saying I don't remember your blade. I'm saying I don't remember your heart. When you cross blades, you can tell a little of what your opponent's thinking. I'm not saying you can read their mind or anything like that, but you can tell what kind of resolve lies behind their blade, whether they respect you or look down on you. That kind of thing, you can tell. When I'm actually fighting, there's no time to think about it, so I don't usually realize until afterwards, but in general, the stronger the opponent is, the more of that "heart" seems to come across."[16] (To Muramasa) "Look Muramasa, or whatever your name is... You missed one important thing. You've been calling me a Shinigami this whole time. I'm a Human!"[17] (To himself about his former life) "That's right. It's not like I ever felt superior to anyone else because I could see ghosts. And I never planned to take it up as a profession. Hell, I never even felt the need to use my ability to help others. All I ever wanted was the normal life I couldn't have. I've finally achieved what I always wanted."[18] (To Zangetsu) "Zangetsu, I won't ask you to 'lend me your power' any more. And I won't tell you 'don't get in my way'. I won't even say 'let us fight together'. I'll fight for myself. Thank you, Zangetsu. You are me."[19]

Rukia Kuchiki ( , Kuchiki Rukia) is the lieutenant of the13th Division under Captain Jshir Ukitake. Rukia is the adoptive sister of Byakuya Kuchiki and a friend of Ichigo Kurosaki. Contents [show] Appearance Short and petite, Rukia has light skin and violet-colored eyes. Her hair is black, with several strands of hair always hanging between her eyes. Byakuya has stated she strongly resembles her sister, Hisana Kuchiki.[2] As a Shinigami of the Gotei 13, Rukia wears a standard shihakush. 17 months after Aizen's defeat, Rukia wears her hair cropped into a bob which hangs about her face. She wears a fingerless white tekk, similar to Byakuya's, which extend above her elbows. As a lieutenant, she wears her Division Badge around her uniform's left sleeve, which has been shortened to just reach her upper arm.[3] Personality Initially born into a lower class, Rukia retains her modesty, even as an adopted member of the nobility. She is graceful and "clean", yet chooses to talk to ordinary people. However, her cool and lone demeanor often forces her to hide her personal troubles, even from her friends. According to Ukitake, Rukia never opens up her heart, and has difficulty making friends.[4] Rukia is clueless about the ways of the modern Human World.[5][6][7][8] She is very good at acting, having acted her way through a number of tough situations, such as getting out of trouble with school teachers[9] and convincing theKurosakis to let her stay at their house.[10] Rukia always has trouble finding clothes that fit her, especially when inhabiting a Gigai in the Human World,[1] leading to her stealing clothes from Ichigo's sister, Yuzu.[11] She likes to climb to high places.[1] Rukia likes everything rabbit-themed,[12] and becomes quite sensitive when someone insults her obsession with them.[13] People often have difficulty understanding her drawings, which are typically rabbit-like, and doesn't like it when people complain about their quality.[14][15][16] Rukia's favorite foods are cucumber, eggs, and rice dumplings.[1][17]

Powers & Abilities Expert Swordsman: Rukia knows the basic levels of Zanjutsu, of which she seemed to have only mastered the rudimentary skills. By her own admission, she has less talent in swordsmanship than Kid.[275] However, after much training by her former mentor, Kaien Shiba, her skill drastically

improved. She can hold her own in a battle, most notably defending herself from attacks from the 9th Espada, who possessed the expert swordsmanship skill of Kaien Shiba.[276]

Rukia using Had 73. Kid Expert: Rukia's greatest strength is her knowledge of Kid. Among her known skills are those for binding, healing, and destruction. However, as she herself stated, while her Kid skill at the Shin' Academy was the highest of her class, the sheer power of her Kid was just average when she joined the 13th Division.[275] Through continuous training, she has greatly developed this skill, able to use Had #73 without incantation to considerable effect.[248] She switched from Zanjutsu to Kid without delay upon losing her Zanpakut.[277]She can use high-level Kid in rapid succession without incantations and still retain considerable control and power. She has great skill in using various spells in unique combination, even using multiple spells at the same time. However, she requires incantations when using high-level spells simultaneously.[278] Enhanced Endurance: Rukia is notably resilient. She withstood being impaled by Aaroniero's Nejibana in conjunction with his Glotonera, and finished him off before losing consciousness.[279] Enhanced Strength: Despite her size, she is powerful enough to defeat a superior opponent. Even without the aid of her Zanpakut, she is still a considerable opponent. Despite her size, she can lift and throw a human.[142]

An unarmed Rukia battlesYoshi. Hakuda Combatant: While in a Gigai, she fought enemies with her hands and feet (kicking, punching, etc.).[280][281] She is capable of hand-to-hand combat while in her Shinigami state, possessing augmented strength. During the Bount Invasion, she countered the swift and accurate attacks of Yoshi.[147] Keen Intellect: Rukia has repeatedly shown herself to be very intelligent. She compensated against the power of the 9th Espada with combination attacks.[282][283] During her forced stay in the Human

World after losing her powers, Rukia proved herself very useful in assisting Ichigo with his new Shinigami duties. Rukia is very knowledgeable, as shown from her knowledge of Soul Society's history. High Spiritual Power: Being a lieutenant of the Gotei 13, Rukia boasts a high level of spiritual energy[284] and can exert large amounts of Reiatsu when needed.[285] Her Reiatsu is white.[286] Shunpo Expert: Renji says Rukia is helpful and effective because of her high speed. During her battle against the Adjuchas of the Menos Forest, she skillfully dodged multiple attacks from several enemies.[287] Zanpakut Sode no Shirayuki redirects here. For the manifested spirit who appears in the Zanpakut Unknown Tales and Beast Swords arcs, see Sode no Shirayuki (Zanpakut spirit). Sode no Shirayuki (, Sleeved White Snow): In its sealed form, Sode no Shirayuki is a normal katana. It has a rectangular tsuba with a vaguely flame-like pattern on the long sides and a curved line on the short sides, inward-curved corners with curved slits above and below the blade, and a series of curved lines embossed on either side of the blade. It has a reddish-brown hilt.

Sode no Shirayuki.

Shikai: Its Shikai command is "Dance" (, mae).[288] Rukia holds her Zanpakut out in front of her and turns it in a circle counter-clockwise. While she is turning it, the blade, hilt, and tsuba turn completely white. The tsuba becomes a hollow snowflake-like circle, and a white ribbon forms from the pommel.[289] Sode no Shirayuki is regarded as one of the most beautiful Zanpakut in Soul Society.[290] The transformation is accompanied by a rush of cold air in all directions.[288]

Shikai Special Ability: Sode no Shirayuki is an ice-type Zanpakut.[291]Sode no Shirayuki possesses multiple techniques, labeled as "dances" by Rukia. Besides ice techniques, Sode no Shirayuki's general ability is freezing.[292] Sode no Shirayuki can freeze a target from a distance,[293] or, used in a different manner, create a path or platform of ice in midair.[294]

Some no mai, Tsukishiro (, First Dance, White Moon): Rukia calls out the name of the dance while holding her Zanpakut upside down. The blade glows, and she makes a slashing motion when her target is in position. When she does this, she draws a circle with the tip of Sode no Shirayuki. The space within that circle and anything inside freezes.[291] The circle not

only freezes the ground, but everything within the circle's influence, including anything above it in the air, creating an extending pillar of light which freezes all within the circle. Shortly after being frozen, the victim shatters along with the ice.[295] The ice pillar will not shatter if the victim is not caught within it.[296][297]

Tsugi no mai, Hakuren (, Next Dance, White Ripple): Rukia, calling out the name of the dance, punctures the ground once, creating a large ice circle, similar to the first dance. She punctures the ground in front of her four times in a semi circle. As ice particles begin to flow up from the punctures she made in the ground, she takes a battle stance. The particles, building up at the tip of Sode no Shirayuki, are released as a large, powerful avalanche of cold air. It flash freezes whatever it comes into contact with, encasing it in ice.[291][298] San no mai, Shirafune (, Third Dance, White Sword): Rukia calls out the name of the dance, which allows her to gather moisture in the air to the tip of Sode no Shirayuki, creating a blade of ice. This makes it possible to augment the length of the blade.[291] After piercing its target, it continues to freeze any surrounding objects and the immediate area.[279][299] Juhaku (, White Tree): Rukia stabs the ground, which creates a trail of ice in the direction of her intended target. The ice freezes the target from the base up, in a continuing freezing process, as it transforms the target into ice.[300] Ice-Rope Connection: If Rukia can't reach her sword, she can create an ice extension to connect her hand to the sword hilt, which allows her to use Sode no Shirayuki's Shikai abilities at a distance.[301]

Bankai: Not Yet Achieved.

Appearances in Other Media Rukia appears in most Bleach video games. In Bleach: Soul Carnival and Bleach: Soul Carnival 2, she has a technique called Tsurarada (, Icicle Fall), where she creates up to three icicles while in the air and lets them drop down on an opponent on the ground. Dark Rukia Main article: Dark Rukia Dark Rukia is an alternate form of Rukia which appeared exclusively in Bleach: Fade to Black. While in this form, instead of her own Zanpakut, she has a gigantic, double-edged scythe, which she easily wields with one hand. Her outfit appears to be completely different, and she is barefooted. Her deep black hair is now lavender, as well as her eyes. While in this alternate state, her powers have been

augmented, and she appears to fight differently, as opposed to her normal self. Dark Rukia appears in Bleach: Heat the Soul 6 and Bleach: Heat the Soul 7 as a playable character. Trivia

Wanting to draw a Shinigami in kimono, Tite Kubo drew Rukia - making her the first of the Bleach characters to be conceived. According to Tite Kubo, Rukia's theme song is Wing Stock by Ashley MacIsaac.[1] Rukia is consistently the most popular female character in the series. In the 4th Shnen Jump poll, she was ranked as the 2nd most popular character in Bleach. Sode no Shirayuki, Rukia's Zanpakut, is the 2nd most popular Zanpakut in a recent Bleach poll. In the Bleach best bout poll, Rukia's fight with Aaroniero came in seventh place.[302] The soul-removing glove Rukia uses early in the series is colored light blue, gold, orange, and white in the manga, while being colored red, black, dark blue, and white in the anime adaptation. Rukia's report on Ichigo, titled the Substitute Shinigami Work Diary, along with her illustrations, are slated for publication in the Seireitei Communication.[303]

Quotes

(To Ichigo Kurosaki) "Even if you save that kid here, nothing will matter if you don't become a Shinigami! Saving him because he's right in front of you!? Don't be naive. A Shinigami has to treat all spirits equally! You cannot just conveniently save those you can see, those you can reach. Don't save that kid with such half-heartedness. If you want to save him now... accept that you must save all spirits. To go anywhere for them... to even give your life to save them, make that kind of commitment!"[304] (To Ichigo Kurosaki) "...If I ask, will you answer? ...It's your problem. A deep, deep problem. I have no right to know. I don't have a method of stepping into the depths of your heart without getting it dirty. So I'll wait. When you want to talk, when you think it's okay to talk... Talk to me. Until that time, I'll wait."[305] (Thinking about Ichigo Kurosaki) "Whether I like him, whether I hate him, it's just all so troublesome. Love, companionship and friendship... it's nothing but trouble."[306] "When the time comes when I have to leave, I have to cut myself off from them all. Love, companionship and friendship. It's troublesome. It's really, really nothing but a saddening emotion. All Shinigami shouldn't have these unnecessary feelings. What kind of disgraceful behavior is this... Rukia Kuchiki?"[307]

(To Renji Abarai about Ichigo) "I...I was the one who dragged him into this!! It's my fault he died!! Since it's my fault he died...! Is it so wrong to go to him?"[308] (To Ichigo Kurosaki) "Don't even try to move one step from there. If you try to follow me... I'll never forgive you!"[309] "We must not shed tears. That is the defeat of the body by the heart. Because, for us, this thing called 'the heart' can become nothing less than proof that one's existence is superfluous."[310] "I'm not scared. I'm content with my life. Meeting Renji and the others, adopted by Nii-sama, Kaien-dono's guidance, then Ichigo's attempted rescue. No pain, no sadness, no regrets. There is nothing for my heart to linger in this world. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And goodbye."[311] (To Orihime Inoue) "In a battle, the ones who get in the way are not the ones that lack power, but the ones that lack resolve."[312] (To Aaroniero Arruruerie while thinking he is Kaien Shiba) "I... I did take your life Kaien. I think that sin is something that will never vanish, no matter how many years pass. If killing me will lift your spirits even a little bit... then I will gladly offer you my life. However, I came to Hueco Mundo to save Inoue... my friend. Until I rescue Inoue Orihime I cannot offer you my life no matter what you may say...!"[313] (Flashback) "At that time I was consumed by a single insecurity. From the start, I had little talent with a sword. My Kid grades were good when I was in the Shin' Academy, but even that was average among the Gotei divisions. Was it really alright for me to be here? Where does my heart lie? Why am I here in the Gotei Divisions?"[314] (To Aaroniero Arruruerie) "I remembered where the heart lies. What's inside you is indeed Kaien's spirit body, but... Kaien is not there... Kaien... left his heart with me!"[315] "I know the loneliness of being a prisoner. I know the joy you feel when your friends come to rescue you and the fear of them being injured and defeated."[316] (To Sode no Shirayuki) "I can never forgive anyone who attempts to destroy what I must protect."[317] (To Riruka Dokugamine) "You are no Hollow or Arrancar. You are human. It is the duty of a Shinigami to protect humans such as yourself. I will not raise my blade against you."[318]

Renji Abarai ( , Abarai Renji) is the lieutenant of the 6th Division under Captain Byakuya Kuchiki. Contents [show] Appearance

Renji's tattoos during his time in the 11th Division. Renji has brown eyes and long crimson hair, which is usually kept in a high ponytail. As a child, Renji's hairline was leveled. Later, he styled it in a large widow's-peak. His upper body is covered in tribal tattoos, which have increased over time, starting from his early days as an academy student[2] to covering his entire back, much of his chest, his extremities, and even much of his forehead.[3] He wears a standard Shinigami outfit, though he usually includes some sort of headgear, usually expensive glasses, or a white headband when he is saving up to purchase some new glasses. Despite being of appropriate rank, Renji does not wear his Division's lieutenant badge. While out of uniform, Renji often wears a white kimono-like type of night clothing, with pink floral patterns on it, and a dark grey sash tied around his waist. It has also been said "that the women within his Division do not mind that he usually walks around in his night clothing."[4] Seventeen months after Aizen's defeat, Renji's hair has grown longer and he wears a maroon colored bandanna covering all of the tattoos on his forehead.[5] He also wears long dark straps on each wrist with bandages over his arms.[6] Personality Renji is quite dynamic. His personality varies from smug and cocky to disquieted and depressed after a major defeat, but shows himself to be an incredibly serious and determined fighter when confronted with an actual threat. Willing to fight, kill, and die for whatever he believes in, Renji is a dangerous man to those who stand in his way. Yasutora Sado compares his fighting style to that of Ichigo Kurosaki.[7] Renji is determined to surpass his captain, Byakuya Kuchiki, and it's this determination that drives Renji to grow stronger. Renji likes taiyaki (a popular fish-shaped pancake usually filled with sweet bean paste), and has a dislike for spicy food.[8] Renji also likes futsal, and in his free time works on assembling a team from the 6th Division, with success, more or less. The current members are himself, Rikichi, and the 4th, 8th, 13th, and 20th seated officers.[4] All of Renji's sunglasses are purchased from Seireitei's popular Gin Tonbo store and cost half a year's worth of his pay check. However, every time he wears a pair, they are broken in one way or

another.[8]On these occasions, he replaces them with a tied white bandana, until he can purchase a new pair of goggles. His dream is to wear a pair that he himself designed at least once.[4]

Powers & Abilities Master Swordsman: Renji is highly skilled in various swordsmanship techniques. He was trained by the 3rd Seat of the 11th Division Ikkaku Madarame when he was relocated to his division.[17] Before becoming a lieutenant, his skills were great enough to fight on par with Ikkaku's Shikai and earn the rank of 6th Seat Officer in the 11th Division. Renji is able to hold his own against captain-level fighters, and is one of two current lieutenants to have attained Bankai (alongside Chjir Sasakibe).[202]

Whip Mastery: What makes Renji so effective in battle is the unique method in which his Zanpakut operates; Zabimaru is an amalgamation of a whip and a sword. Renji is a versatile fighter because of this, and to effectively wield it is a testament to his skill.[203] Renji has stated that Zabimaru is an extension of his body, like his arms and legs, and he has used it in a variety of ways. He can use its extension ability to attack an opponent from behind, or either the left or right, without giving away the variation of his attack until it is too late. He has shown considerable skill in using his extension capabilities to constrict opponents, surrounding them from various angles and then retracting Zabimaru in order to crush his adversaries.[204]

Shunpo Expert: Knowing that Zabimaru's Shikai attacks leave him open to counter-attacks, Renji has become very proficient in Shunpo to compensate for this weak point.[205] Renji can even keep up with captain-level Shinigami for an indeterminate amount of time. He knows enough to be informed on their higher level techniques.[206] Kid Practitioner: As a student at the Shin' Academy, Renji showed poor skill in Kid.[207] Later, he is skilled enough in the use of the level 31 Shakkah spell without incantation, but has difficulty using it in rapid succession, as some will explode on him indiscriminately.[208][141] He also uses a low-level Bakud spell to restrain multiple targets (albeit they were all unseated officers).[209] Renji also has enough knowledge of Kid to manipulate it for purposes other than fighting, such as using his Shakkah spell to illuminate the dark corridors of Las Noches. However, he is only able to create a small light without reciting the full chant.[210] Enhanced Strength: Renji possesses great physical strength. When he swings Zabimaru toward Ichigo in their second fight, he easily tosses him into the air, and subsequently pushes him through an entire building about a dozen meters away with relative ease.[211] During the fight with Szayelaporro's unique Fraccin, Renji protects Ury from a direct punch from one of the stronger Arrancar, using both hands, before throwing him aside.[212] Later, by spinning Zabimaru above his head, Renji creates enough force to generate a whirlwind, blowing all of Szayelaporro's Fraccin several yards away, despite their massive size. Szayelaporro stated this was a result of Renji's "brute force."[213] Later, after

seventeen months of training following Aizen's defeat, Renji's raw strength allows him to nonchalantly block Jackie's strongest Fullbring-enhanced strike, which had enough force to unearth a large portion of the ground with the shockwave, with just the back of his wrist, and effortlessly knock her out with a simple blow to her stomach using the hilt of his sword.[214] After training with the Royal Guard, Renji's strength increased to the point where he created a large crater by elbowing Mask De Masculine in the back of the head after the latter attempted to use his Star Rocket Headbutt[215] and stopped Mask's Star Satsujin Punch with just his bare hand.[216] Enhanced Endurance: During his fight with Byakuya, Renji is hit directly by every blade from Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, and when he continues to fight he is pierced by five more blades. Even after such terrible damage, he makes a last ditch effort attack, almost piercing Byakuya with Zabimaru, and finally falls defeated. He had enough confidence in his resiliency to use a full-power Had #31 on Szayelaporro at point-blank range, willingly taking damage as well. Enhanced Durability: Renji is a very durable fighter. Seventeen months after Aizen's defeat, Renji takes a direct, ground-shattering strike from Jackie's enhanced "Dirty-Boots" Fullbring unfazed.[217] Likewise, he was able to resist the unique healing properties of Tenjir Kirinji's hot springs without rotting away after being fully healed for a noticeable period, as well as enduring one of the Royal Guard member's punches while remaining mostly unfazed, a feat that greatly impressed the man.[218] Later, after his training with the Royal Guard and during his fight with Mask, Renji emerged unharmed after withstanding the onslaught of Mask's Star Lariat and being hit by his Star Flash Super Nova.[219] Great Spiritual Power: Being a lieutenant of the Gotei 13, Renji possesses high spiritual energy. Upon learning Bankai, this power increases on a scale from 5-10. After feeling his defeat, Rukia comments that it was so high, she could not recognize it until it decreased, which caused it to become more familiar to her.[220] Kirio Hikifune noted that after Renji and Ichigo consumed her special Reiatsu-infused food would greatly strengthen their spiritual power levels.[221] This is proven when Renji overpowers Mask, a captain-level combatant, with his Shikai alone.[222] His Reiatsu is light red in color.[223] Zanpakut Zabimaru redirects here. For the female and male manifested spirit that appears in the Zanpakut Unknown Tales arc and theBeast Swords arc see Zabimaru (Zanpakut spirit). Zabimaru (, Snake Tail): Zabimaru's sealed form resembles a typical katana. It has a rectangular bronze tsuba with a jagged design, and a red handle and sheath.

Zabimaru's Shikai state.

Shikai: Zabimaru's Shikai command is "Howl" (, hoero; "Roar" in the English dub). In its Shikai, Zabimaru transforms into an even longer 6-part segmented blade; each segment is wider than the one preceding it from the hilt, with 2 pick-like protrusions on the front and back of each segment, with the ones on the front much longer than the ones on the back. Zabimaru's segments can grow in number almost without limit. The segments are connected by a stretchable thread, making Zabimaru more useful as a whip than an actual sword, however, it can serve as a regular sword just as easily, thanks to Renji's swordsmanship. Zabimaru's guard and handle remain the same in its Shikai release.[224] While Zabimaru can be stretched to incredible lengths in its whip form, Renji has a limit of three consecutive attacks before having to bring the segments of Zabimaru back together for recovery - leaving him fairly vulnerable. To make up for this, Renji usually relies on Shunpo to evade attacks as he retrieves Zabimaru's segments.[225][226] Renji's Shikai, while durable to an extent, can ultimately sustain serious damage the longer the fight drags on. While it can withstand dangerously prolonged combat, it has limits in enduring high-level attacks that are conducted by either the enemy or by Renji himself. Because of these many drawbacks, Renji states that out of all the Zanpakut wielded by the lieutenants, Zabimaru is the most difficult to master.

Shikai Special Ability: Zabimaru has a special technique rarely used known as:

Higa Zekk (, Bite of a Broken Baboon's Fang; Viz "Baboon Fang Bite"): Renji can use his spiritual power to levitate the disconnected or broken segments of Zabimaru into the air, allowing him to execute a one-shot omni-directional attack, however, Renji states that this is damaging to Zabimaru and leaves him defenseless.[227] Byakuya later comments that using this technique will prevent Renji from reactivating his Shikai for an unspecified duration.[142]

Hihi Zabimaru.

Bankai: Hihi Zabimaru (, Baboon King Snake Tail; Viz"Baboon King"): Renji's Bankai transforms Zabimaru into a massive version of its Shikai form, resembling a skeleton of a snake. Zabimaru gains many more, much larger segments, resembling a mix between a snakes vertebral column and the pick-like protrusions of his Shikai segments. It also gains a snake-like head about the size of a small car. Renji is also slightly transformed, gaining a fur cowl around his neck. The cowl appears to be the fur of an ape, and the ape's skull can be seen over Renji's left shoulder, while the rest of the fur extends to cover his right arm. Zabimaru itself, in Bankai form, does not literally "cut;" Renji usually catches his opponent with the snake-head of his weapon and smashes his opponent into the ground with it. The head is capable of inflicting heavy damage through biting.[228] Mayuri Kurotsuchistates that the segments broken during Renji's fight with Byakuya Kuchiki have been missing ever since.[229]

Bankai Special Ability: Zabimaru gains special techniques when in Bankai form.

Bankai Reconstruction: Unlike its Shikai, Zabimaru's segments are held together by Renji's spiritual power, allowing him to separate and reattach them at will.[230] The segments themselves are extremely tough, making it extremely difficult to destroy Hihi Zabimaru. Even if a segment is damaged, knocked off, or destroyed, Renji can simply detach it and reform Zabimaru.[231](Unnamed) Hikotsu Taih (, Baboon Bone Cannon): Renji fires a dense blast of concentrated spiritual energy from Zabimaru's mouth. The technique requires a substantial amount of energy from Renji, which usually breaks the segments out of formation in the aftermath.[232][233] Enhanced Higa Zekk: He can also use a much more powerful version of Higa Zekk, where all the segments detach, glow and sharpen with spiritual energy. They surround the opponent and execute an omni-directional attack of blades of spiritual energy. After use of this attack, Hihi Zabimaru reconstitutes itself.[234] Reiatsu Ropes: Renji can separate his Bankai segments and use them to surround his opponent. By linking the segments together again with his Reiatsu, Renji is able to bind the target. He uses this technique on Yammy Llargo, but it is easily destroyed. [235](Unnamed)

Trivia

His theme song, as chosen by Tite Kubo, is HAZU feat Ill-Bosstino's "Stray Dog".[1] Renji ranked consistently high in the first few character polls, making the top 5 twice, but has now fallen from the Top 10 most popular characters. He ranked 23rd in the 1st, 3rd in the 2nd, 4th in the 3rd and 11th in the 4th. His Zanpakut, Zabimaru, in Shikai placed 7th, and its Bankai placed 36th, tying with Senna's Mirokumaru. In the Bleach best bout poll Renji's fight with Ichigo tied for third place while his fight with Byakuya made it in sixth place.[236] Renji is nicknamed red pineapple by Jinta Hanakari,[237] a reference to the way his crimson hair is kept in a pineapple top-like ponytail. Renji also occasionally wears a shirt with 'Red Pineapple' printed on the front.[238] Renji had a serial article in the Seireitei Communication titled Let's Do Shikai, a much-touted, three-part series in which Renji gave tips on the essentials of battle. [239]

Quotes

(To Ichigo Kurosaki) "Don't make me laugh! It is your fault that Rukia lost her power. That's why her sentence is so heavy. Don't you get it? It's all because of you that Rukia is going to die! What right do you have to say you want to save her? Quit joking around."[240] "I am really a tramp down to my bones. I hate myself. I bark at the moon, but I don't have the courage to jump and grab it."[241] (To Ichigo Kurosaki) "I never won once against Captain Kuchiki. Ever since Rukia left, I trained every day, but I still failed. He is too strong. Fighting to get Rukia back is nothing but an impossible dream to me. Kurosaki, I'm probably shameless for doing this, but I have to ask you. Please, you have to save Rukia!"[242] (About Byakuya Kuchiki) "I have always been afraid, always been pretending to follow you closely, always been pretending to sharpen my teeth, when the truth is, I am scared to death just treading on your shadow."[243] (To Byakuya Kuchiki) "For a long time now, before I joined the Gotei 13, the only person that I have always wanted to surpass is you, Captain Kuchiki!"[244] (To Ichigo Kurosaki) "Showing concern for a warrior's life on the battlefield is an insult to that warrior."[245] "We at this moment head into the decisive battle. Have faith that our blades will not shatter. Have faith that our hearts will not waiver. And even if our paths should diverge, we all share a heart of iron. Swear that even if the ground beneath us should be rent asunder we will live and return to this place again." [246] (To Szayelaporro Granz) "What the hell are you on? I didn't come here to chit-chat with you. I came here to beat the hell out of you guys. I don't give a shit about your life story. If you wanna chat, you can do it all you want while I kill you. But I'm not gonna go easy on you."[247] (To Jackie Tristan) "Only a piece of trash would slaughter a woman in cold blood. To live on as a worthless piece of trash would be just as bad as dying here now."[248] (To Mask De Masculine) "Us villains are dirty by nature."[249]

Vctor Ugarte (Latin America) Ury Ishida ( , Ishida Ury) is a Gemischt Quincy residing in Karakura Town. He is a student at Karakura High School, where he is a classmate and friend of Ichigo Kurosaki. He is a member of theWandenreich with the designation "A", as well as Yhwach's future successor.[4] Contents [show] Appearance Ury Ishida is a bespectacled teenager of average height and slender build. He has straight, chinlength raven-colored hair framing both sides of his face, and is fair-skinned with blue eyes. In school, Ury wears the respective school uniform along with a tie. When confronting Hollows, he typically dons white Quincy clothes, with blue stripes representing the Quincy cross, and a mantle. Seventeen months after Aizen's defeat, Ury's bangs hang mostly on the right-side of his face, and the rest hang behind his left ear, due to his glasses.[5] Personality Ury is generally quiet and solitary, but tries harder to act cool when other people are around. Ury is a member of the handicrafts club at Karakura High School, and is highly skilled at sewing. While Ury does not mind stitching things for his friends, his sense of design forces him to add unexpected designs. For example, when he makes new clothing for Chad and Orihime, he replaces the single red line of Chad's original shirt with a red cross, saying that it was better, and since he could not copy the three white dots on Orihime's shirt, he instead adds frilly lace and two flower-like buds at the bottom.[6] Ury has low blood pressure and hates procrastination.[7] The other things he hates are quite odd: buttons (despite being an expert in sewing)[7]and the word "haphazard." His favorite food is homemade mackerelmiso stew.[7] He likes Don Kanonji's television program "Bura-Rei" so much that he attends the live broadcast of the filming in Karakura Town.[8] He loves wearing a mantle, even though it serves no purpose other than to make him feel cooler, despite the fact that it hinders his movement, even keeping a spare with him. He has a tendency to say things melodramatically. Ury has proven to be gullible at times. During an omake, he starts getting irritated at the fact that a weapon (a Zanpakut in this case) has a will of own; Ichigo tricks him into thinking that Ginrei Kjaku has actually materialized, to which Ury sheds a happy tear.[9] Ury operates on a moral ethic known as the "Pride of the Quincy" and has a strong sense of justice. He is very chivalrous, stating that he enacts justice on men who abuse or treat women badly, leading him to attempt to defend Rukia Kuchiki fromRenji Abarai when he and Byakuya Kuchiki came to the Human Worldto arrest her, and protects Orihime Inoue during their time in Soul Society. Ury has a tendency to not use lethal force in battle, especially if he can win without doing so. Instead, he

will simply incapacitate his opponent. Like his grandfather, Sken Ishida, Ury is left-handed, and he is also a great archer, capable of insane feats of archery. History

Equipment

Ury's new pentacle shaped cross. Quincy Cross: The Quincy cross is the source of a Quincy's power. As Ury's power grows, so does his cross. Originally a simple cross,[202] it later became a pentacle after regaining his powers.[203]

Seele Schneider. Seele Schneider: Ury is highly capable of using the soul-cutting sword with great proficiency, easily defeating Cirucci Sanderwicci with it, despite his lack of practice beforehand (Ury had just recently stolen the weapons from his father's storage room).[117] Hollow Bait: Typically used by Quincy to aid in the extermination of low-level Hollows. It attracts them when the flat, round tablet is crushed and scattered. Ury uses it to summon Hollows to Karakura Town during his duel with Ichigo Kurosaki.[204] Silber Draht (, Zirub Dorto; German for "silver wire"):[205] A silver wire that Ury conceals around his right arm after losing his powers to the Quincy: Letzt Stil. Ury uses it to fight a Menos Grande that attacks him.[206] Anti-Arrancar Mine: After rescuing Ury from Szayelaporro, Mayuri Kurotsuchigives Ury a landmine he created, which is designed for use against Arrancar. Once its sensors pick up an Arrancar's Reiatsu, it detonates violently. Ury subsequently uses it on the Espada Yammy Llargo, critically injuring the Arrancar in his sealed state; the explosion was very powerful.[207][208]

Sanrei Glove (Former): In order to match more powerful opponents he would face in Soul Society, Ury trained using his grandfather's gift: the Sanrei Glove. Upon completing the necessary week of endurance training wearing the glove, his power drastically increased. He manifested a different bow and increased all of his attributes, easily overpowering mid to low-tier Shinigami. The glove dissipated upon removal. Quincy Bangle (Former): During the Bount Invasion, Ury receives this Quincy artifact from Nemu in order to regain his former powers. After a battle where Ury was pushed to his limit, he figured out how to use this accessory without the risk of it self-destructing. He was able to master its use in a very short amount of time, surprising and impressing Ran'Tao. The artifact was destroyed in his fight against Jin Kariya. Hakumen Kudashi (; lit. ""Fair Face Purge"")[209]: Putting the Anti-Arrancar Mine developed by Mayuri to practical use, Ury detonates the landmine in a such a manner that it not only inflicts significant injury to an opponent, but also destroys the ground beneath them.[207] When used against Yammy Llargo, in order to maximize the damage and protract the Espada's subsequent fall, Ury weakened the lower levels of the structure that they were in.[208]

Powers & Abilities Master Archer: When a Quincy becomes more skilled using their Bow and Heilig Pfeil, they gain more power and precision with their arrows. This is similar to how a marksman gains skill and hits the target more frequently. Ury Ishida has greatly increased his power and skill throughout his association with Ichigo Kurosaki, and is a prime example of this growth. He has great accuracy, able to instantly kill Hollows with one arrow. During the Ryoka Invasion, he fights Jirb Ikkanzaka, another projectile-type user, and easily defeats him. After defeating him, Ury fires two arrows through his soul chain and soul sleep, preventing him from ever harming anyone again (he attempted to attack Orihime Inoue).[210]

Path Control: When Ury fought Cirucci Sanderwicci in Las Noches, he was able to curve his arrows' path after firing them, putting stress on the former Espada. This effectively makes the Quincy's Heilig Pfeil similar to miniature heat-seeking missiles, but instead of locking on to heat, they target whatever enemy they have. It is unknown how long Ury can control the arrow's path, or if there is a limit to how many can be under his control. So far, he has only fired 3 simultaneously using this method.[211] Negation of Attacks: Ury can fire his arrows with pinpoint precision to the point where they negate another attack on impact. To do this, he charges the arrows with a sufficient amount of power and fires them to strike an incoming projectile. He has used his Heilig Pfeil in this way twice: once against Aisslinger Wernarr's Ua Tirotear attack, and a second time against Cirucci's Golondrina. It was especially useful against Aisslinger, since the Arrancar could only fire 108 projectiles at once, almost 1/12th the amount of arrows Ury can fire.[212]

Reishi Absorption: As a Quincy, Ury primarily absorbs spiritual energy from the atmosphere, combining it with his own spiritual energy to form weapons.[213] He has an easier time collecting this energy in

environments with higher concentrations of spiritual particles, such as Soul Society or Hueco Mundo. To a sufficiently powerful Quincy, there is no difference between spiritual particles and spiritual energy as a source of power. He can manipulate spiritual energy for offensive purposes. Ury commonly reshapes spiritual particles into various types of bow and arrows, but can also concentrate spiritual energy into the form of swords (Seele Schneider) or Gint.

Hirenkyaku Expert: Ury is highly skilled in the use of the technique, keeping up with Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi, who complimented his skill, stating it was a skill that was hard to master, especially at such a young age.[214] Ury has recently shown a new variation of the technique, which creates a platform of Reishi under the user's feet. Originally used while traveling to Hueco Mundo, he has found use for it outside of the Garganta, and can carry others with him on the platform.[215] Ranstengai (; lit. "Heavenly Wild Puppet Suit", Viz translation "Disheveled Paradise Puppet"): A high level technique which is quite rare among the Quincy. Ury is well versed in the use of this ability, which was not possessed by a good majority of the former living Quincy. It allows the user to use spirit energy to manipulate their own body in the case of paralysis.[63]

Gint Expert: He is able to use the spiritual energy stored in the silver tubes to create similar effects to Kid; Ury can even use his own energy rather than the energy stored in the silver tube. Gint was his primary weapon of choice, albeit only, against an incomplete Arrancar during the Arrancar Invasion. He was only able to injure it before his father saved him, but this feat alone was great, as he could not use any of his Quincy abilities at the time.[102] Excellent Intellect & Athleticism: Aside from his Quincy powers, Ury is well-trained in both body and mind, having substantial athletic abilities and a genius intellect. He uses his intelligence to find weak points in his opponents, even overcoming disadvantages he has through thinking on his feet.[216] Due to keeping his physical abilities at their peak, Ury can easily hold out against all but the most resilient opponents during a battle. He is able to deduce Ichigo's spiritual level, that Ichigo acquired his Shinigami powers in mid-May, and Rukia Kuchiki's real identity.[217]

Multilingual: He possesses some knowledge of Spanish, as he understands the Spanish terms used by the Arrancar. Ury told Yammy upon his defeat,"Mala Suerte," which means tough luck, before the latter fell through Las Noches.[218] He is seen reading a German book. [219]

Expert Swordsman: During his fight with Cirucci Sanderwicci, Ury uses Seele Schneider as a sword expertly, and easily defeats her with it. Even though it is really an arrow, and his main prowess lies in archery and Quincy techniques, it is clear that Ury has some ability with the sword.[117] He also uses his Seele Schneider against Senbonzakura, and successfully holds his ground for a short time.[153] Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: While preferring to fight at mid to long-range to make full use of his Quincy powers, Ury is also a highly capable close-range and bare-handed fighter. When a street gang came to Karakura High School to cause trouble, Ury calmly approached them, and showed his skill by

easily subduing them (albeit with some assistance from Ichigo). Like his weapon style, Ury's barehanded style is more about precise strikes than brute force.[220] Spiritual Awareness: As a Quincy, Ury can sense Hollows at a significant distance. He sensed a new Hollow in an area before either Rukia Kuchiki and Ichigo Kurosaki sensed its arrival. He also knew which direction it was in.[221] High Spiritual Power: Ury has displayed a high amount of spiritual energy.[222] He has obviously mastered the Quincy ability of Reiryoku absorption, taking in spirit particles and spirit energy alike. This, on top of his ownenergy reserves, lends him plenty of strength in combat. When his father restored his powers, Ury's spiritual force proves so great that it took them a week or so to finish, and his father still needed to draw out a stronger arrow (as opposed to shooting him single-handedly) to restore his powers and exhaust him completely. His Reiatsu is light-blue.[223] Spirit Weapon

Ury firing arrows from his new bow Ginrei Kojaku. Ginrei Kojaku (, Arc sparrow of the silver peak): After Ury regains his powers with the aid of his father; he uses this new Quincy cross, this one resembling a pentacle, and a variant of his original bow. This bow is first used during his battle with the Arrancar Aisslinger Wernarr[224], and several of its special abilities were later shown in his fight against Cirucci Sanderwicci. Unlike his original bow, this bow is shaped like a spider's web.

Heilig Pfeil ( (), Hairihhi Bufairu; German for "Holy Arrow", Japanese for "Destroying Arrow of Sanctity"): Ury can gather Reishi from his surroundings and shape it into arrows. With Ginrei Kojaku, Ury can fire up to 1,200 shots consecutively.[225] He can fire hundreds of arrows all at once, which Ichigo Kurosaki compares to "bug spray" after he uses it on a swarm of Hollows.[226] Arrow Ricochet: Ury can ricochet individual shots off of walls to shoot around corners, make the direction of his attacks unpredictable, and change the direction of his shots while in flight. Licht Regen ( (), Rihito Rgen; German/Dutch for "Light Rain", Japanese for "Rain of Light"): Ury first used this technique in conjunction with his new spirit bow Ginrei Kojaku. A large amount of Reiryoku is gathered at Ury's left shoulder, much like when he used the Quincy: Letzt Stil. He then fires a volley of arrows at a single target.[227]

Reishi Shield: Though it is not meant to be used in this manner, Ury is able to use Ginrei Kojaku as a temporary shield to block some attacks.[228]

Ury displaying his new bow after firing at Kgo. New Bow: 17 months after the defeat of Aizen, Ury has a new bow. It is smaller in size, resembling his father's. An arrow forms down the middle of each side of the bow, with a line that crosses it near the center.[229]

Heilig Pfeil: Just like his previous bows, Ury can gather Reishi from his surroundings and shape it into arrows. According to Quilge Opie, Ury's Heilig Pfeil should not be weaker than his own.[230]

Appearances in Other Media

Gert Sprenger as used against Taikon. Ury appears as a playable character in Bleach: Soul Resurreccin, where he fights with his Seeleschneider, bow and Gint attacks. Ury appears in the Bleach movies Memories of Nobody, The DiamondDust Rebellion, and The Hell Verse. In the latter, Ury uses a technique called Gert Sprenger. This involves Ury firing a single Seele Schneider at the intended target, which then stops in mid-air, surrounding the opponent with a high density barrier of Reishi. Minuscule cuts created by Seele Schneider cause Reishi to flow out of the target's body. Ury throws a Gint at the Seele Schneider, causing the barrier to implode, culminating in an enormous explosion.

Censorship

Ury's missing hand in the manga and injured arm in the anime, as a result of his fight with Ulquiorra Cifer. Ulquiorra's attack on Ury was significantly toned down in the anime. In the manga, Ulquiorra manages to sever Ury's left hand, while in the anime, Ury's left hand was just severely injured and burnt. Despite the anime damage showing no bleeding at all, Ury still states similar lines about having stopped the blood flow to a worried Orihime, and he loses the use of his left arm in both versions.

Trivia

Ury ranked 5th in the most recent character popularity poll.[239] In previous polls, he placed highly: in the first he came 3rd, in the second, he came 8th, and in the third, 15th. His weapons have ranked highly in the Zanpakut poll, with his Ginrei Kojaku placed 11th, his Seele Schneider 21st and his Kojaku placing 22nd. His theme song, as chosen by Tite Kubo, is "Idioteque" by Radiohead. In the Bleach best bout poll, Ury's fight with Mayuri came in eighth place.[240]

Quotes

(To Jirb Ikkanzaka) "You want an attack full of "killing intent"? Then come get me. My bow is full of it."[241] (To Sken Ishida) "Sensei, I want to get stronger. I'll become a very strong Quincy and then protect everyone from Hollows. Then father will definitely agree with the way of the Quincy."[242] (To Mayuri Kurotsuchi) "I swear on the pride of the Quincy, I will kill you."[243] (To Mayuri Kurotsuchi) "Apologize to everyone and never appear in front of me again, then I will spare your life. If you don't, I will shoot you again with three times as much power as the last shot."[244] (Thinking during the fight between Ichigo and Byakuya) "She knows that if she tries to help, she'll just be in the way. Plus, even if she is able to help Kurosaki wouldn't want her to. She knows all of this, but she is still clenching her whole body, as if trying to stop it from taking action. Inoue is

waiting, praying that you will be safe, believing you will return. Don't lose Kurosaki. If you lose, I will never forgive you!"[245]

(To Ichigo Kurosaki) "You're asking if this is a bow? Of course it is. You think I would use anything else?"[246] (To Aisslinger Wernarr) "I have not exterminated you so that you can relay a message to Aizen. Tell him the Quincy are here, and that in reality, it's not the Shinigami he should fear, but rather the Quincy!"[247] (To Pesche Guatiche about Cirucci Sanderwicci) "The right to choose life or death lies with the victor, and the victor of this battle is me. From her perspective, my leaving her alive here might seem like an insult, but I have no intention of doing things their way."[248] (To Ulquiorra Cifer regarding Ury being clear-headed) "I am. That's why I'm ready to do battle with you!"[249]

Diego Armando Nieves (Latin America) Yasutora Sado ( , Sado Yasutora), also known as Chad(, Chado), is a Human teenager who lives in Karakura Town. He is a student at Karakura High School, where he is in the same class as Ichigo Kurosaki. Contents [show] Appearance Sado is a teenager of Mexican descent. He is dark-skinned with pronounced cheek-bones and has wavy brown hair with bangs that generally hangs over his brown eyes. He is a muscular and extremely tall man and appears to be much older than he actually is. Sado has a tattoo on his left shoulder which reads Amore e Morte ("love and death" in Italian) and consists of a heart with a snake and angel wings around it.[1] He typically wears either his school uniform or flashy short-sleeved shirts with open collars. He also wears a dark, long-sleeved shirt with a rose emblazoned on the left sleeve. Seventeen months after Aizen's defeat, Sado has grown a small goatee on his chin. Personality Sado is a quiet person and is sometimes the subject of jokes or bullies because he never fights back. Nonetheless, he is treated equally within his group of friends in Karakura. Sado also has a soft spot for cute things, like small animals and Kon's plushie form.[5]Sado has also shown to be very intelligent: he ranked 11th out of 322 students in Karakura High School.[6] Sado has a very loyal personality. He is quite loyal to his friends, especially Ichigo, who is one of his closest friends, even going as far as to try and defeat aGotei 13 captain to go help him. He is also shown to be fearless and told so by numerous enemies such as the first Hollow he fights. He displays little emotion except when something he cares about is in danger. Sado's favorite food is tomatoes. He also likes music, but rarely watches TV. He only likes two shows, one of which is Carnivore Kingdom, which starts at 8 a.m. on Sundays. He likes it so much that he bought the DVDs for it.[7] As Kon is a cheap knock-off plushie of the main character of Carnivore Kingdom, Sado finds Kon especially cute. The other show he likes is Don Kanonji's Ghost Bust. Sado also has a bass guitar.[8]

Powers & Abilities Superhuman Strength: Sado possesses a remarkable amount of strength for a Human. With little effort, he lifted a steel beam that had fallen on him.[216] He can effortlessly throw another person half a block away with one arm.[217] Sado fought a Hollow with his bare fists, and is strong enough to break a

telephone pole and swing it like a bat.[218] He effortlessly threw off the Hollow creature helpers of Shrieker.[219] His strength is further enhanced by his armored arms, allowing him to take on those bigger than himself with relative ease; with a single punch, he was able to take left arm off the Hollow, Bulbous G.[220] He can aid himself in a safe descent to the ground when falling from high above with tremendous force.[221] He nonchalantly bent an unseated Shinigami's Zanpakut.[222] He is so strong that when he effortlessly punched a 3rd Seat Shinigami, he sent him flying away half a block, defeating him.[223] He punched a large Arrancar in the face, shattering his mask remnant and send him flying a good distance. [224] In its true form, his right arm is powerful enough to take on a former Espada, send him flying a great distance through a wall, and give him a considerable injury.[225] With his left arm, he stopped and crushed Gantenbainne's most powerful attack.[226]

Chad Catapult (, Chado Katapuruto):[227] A technique used by Sado to launch an ally into the air.[228] Grua Tirar ((), Gura Tirru; Japanese and Spanish for "Crane-Throw")[229] A technique involving a shoulder throw, reminiscent of seoi-nage, that allows Sado to hurl an opponent of gigantic proportions effortlessly.[230]

Enhanced Durability: Sado is unnaturally resistant to damage. He withstood a falling steel beam, which bent upon contact with his back, relatively unfazed.[231] He took a head-on collision with a motorcycle; while the driver was seriously injured, he walked away with only minor injuries.[232] He sustained a clawed attack to his back by the Hollow Shrieker which would have been fatal for anyone else.[233] When his arms are armored, he attains an even greater level of endurance, allowing him to withstand relentless beatings and being thrown into structures without showing any signs of injury.[234] His durability becomes great enough to block incoming attacks and blasts.[235] He is highly resilient mentally, able to endure a powerful attack to his psyche and continue fighting.[236] In its true form, his right arm is durable enough to effortlessly block attacks from a former Espada.[237] Spiritual Awareness: After his encounter with the parakeet containing the soul of Yichi Shibata, Sado started to detect the approximate locations of spirits and Hollows, but could not fully see them.[238][239][240] Only after saving Karin Kurosaki from a Hollow, during the Hollow-slaying match between Ury and Ichigo, did Sado begin to fully see spirits.[241][242] Enhanced Speed: Sado's speed is above that of an average Human.[243] The recent furtherance of Sado's powers has increased his natural agility to the point where his reaction time is sufficient enough to anticipate high-speed attacks and counter them. During his fight with Gantenbainne, Sado develops a level of speed that can easily keep up with that of Sondo, even becoming capable of appearing behind his opponent and attacking.[244] High Spiritual Power: He commonly uses spiritual energy to augment the strength of his punches.[245] During his basic training in spirit energy with Kkaku Shiba, Sado was shown to have intensely strong and high levels of spiritual energy, though the Shiba Clan cannon orb he created was unstable.[246] His Reiatsu intimidated an unseated Shinigami into submission.[247]

Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: While never officially trained, Yasutora Sado has shown himself a capable fighter, even when outnumbered. Fullbring Brazo Derecha de Gigante ( (), buraso derecha de higante; Spanish and Japanese for "Right Arm of the Giant") (Brazo Derecho del Gigante in the English dub and English manga).[248] Originally it was thought that by encountering the spiritual form of Ichigo Kurosakiconstantly, Sado's natural spiritual powers were pulled from the depths of his soul.[249] This power is actually a product of Fullbring.[250] Ever since he came to Hueco Mundo, Sado had felt the power inside him rustling, something he never felt while in Soul Society. The rustling increased the deeper he went into Hueco Mundo, and it was the beating he received from Gantenbainne that caused the rustling to settle down. Upon coming to Hueco Mundo, his power has been happily crying out like it had come home, and through the violent welcome of its brethren had reclaimed its sanity. Sado acknowledges that his power is less like a Shinigami's or Quincy's and more like that of a Hollow.[251] This allowed him to fully tap his powers, which manifests as armor on both arms, instead of just his right. Sado states that when he first used his power, it awoke because of the pride that had been instilled in his heart by Oscar Joaqun de la Rosa, and that the object that acted as the source of his Fullbring was the skin on his arms.[252] Originally, he could only activate this power from his need to protect.[253]Later, during his training under Yoruichi Shihin, Sado learns to activate his powers at will.

The first form of Sado's arm.

First Form (formerly): Sado covers his right arm all the way up to his shoulder in a liquid which then solidifies into a form of armor. The shoulder fans out a bit into an upward extension, parallel to his height. It has an indentation at the top in the middle of the extension, stopping just where his shoulder begins, separating the upward extension into two. There are two winglike protrusions on either side of his wrist. The arm is black, with a dark magenta strip running down the middle of the arm, tapering down towards a point that stops at the wrist. The dark magenta strip is outlined by a thin white line. These patterns are on the top as well as the underside of his arm.[254] Spiritual Energy Blasts: He is able to fire powerful energy blasts from his fist. While originally he could only use 2 blasts before collapsing, his training with Yoruichi gave Sado sufficient stamina to fire multiple blasts in a single day.[255] These spiritual energy blasts have become more powerful with each form taken. He is able to fire them effortlessly.[256] Sado gathers energy

through the shield portion of his right arm and fires it in the form of a massive energy blast from his arm.[257] This power is present in all forms.

The second form of Sado's arm.

Second Form: Sado covers his right arm all the way up to his shoulder in a liquid which then solidifies into a form of armor. The shoulder extension becomes pointed and slightly longer, making it a little bit taller than Sado. The arm maintains its black color, but the magenta becomes slightly lighter, and the design becomes more intricate, while the white is lost altogether.[258] El Directo ( (), eru direkuto; Spanish for "The Direct", Japanese for "One Strike of the Giant"): A powerful special attack learned upon attaining the second form. The end of the extension on Sado's shoulder opens up and charges up spiritual energy, resembling the flaming exhaust from a car engine. He releases a huge blast of spiritual energy, which he can either use to augment his punches or fire as a concentrated medium to long-range attack.[259]

The Third Form of Brazo Derecha de Gigante.

True Second Form (Defensive Shield): He covers his right arm all the way up to the shoulder in a liquid which solidifies into a form of armor. Brazo Derecha de Gigante becomes a shield, which extends from his hand to some distance beyond his forearm, with the same intricate pattern as before. Hollow-like teeth lie in the center, with a rose-like pattern or skeletal nose and eyes near the end. He loses the wing-like protrusion which extended from his shoulder and replaces it with a hexagonal plate, which covers his wrist up to his shoulder. In this form, it is used for defense instead of offense, though it's still more powerful offensively than his original arm.[260] This is the true power and form of his right arm.[261] Sado says that "the soul of his Abuelo flows through his right arm," speaking metaphorically of his grandfather's teachings. What his abuelo taught him was to protect, and that is why what dwells in his right arm is a defensive power.[262]

Sado's armored left arm, Brazo Izquierda del Diablo. Brazo Izquierda del Diablo ( (), buraso isukieruda deru diaburo; Spanish and Japanese for "Left Arm of the Devil") (Brazo Izquierdo del Diablo in the English dub): [263] He covers his left arm all the way up to the shoulder with a liquid which solidifies into a form of armor. The arm is white, with a red stripe running down the length of the center. His fingertips have red diamond shaped marks on them. A spike protrudes from the shoulder. and two more, resembling claws, extend over his chest. This is the offensive power within him.

La Muerte ( (), ra muerute; Spanish for "The Death", Japanese for "One Strike of the Demon") (El Muerte in the English manga): A powerful special attack, La Muerte is used by his left arm by grasping spiritual power focused on the five fingers. Those who are struck by it are like sacrifices crucified and offered to the devil.[264] His fingertips charge in the forms of five disks of crackling spiritual energy, and he forms a fist and punches his opponent. The blow is devastating, and upon contact, a huge skull shape is gouged into the surface behind the target. The power can easily defeat a Privaron Espada.[265]

Censorship

Differences between the anime and manga. Sado's injuries from his first encounter with Yammy Llargo were drastically toned down in the anime. In the manga, his armored arm was torn off and broken into two,[266] while in the anime, his arm merely had several deep cuts in it.[267]

That's all the reason I need to put my life on the line for anything." [269] (About the coin his Abuelo gave him) "That's right. Very important. Maybe even more important than my life." [270] (To Demoura Zodd) "Sorry. The truth is, I don't like doing things like dealing the deathblow to opponents who have lost the will to fight. But this time, it seems I can't even say such naive things." [271] (To Gantenbainne Mosqueda) "This power of mine seems to be less like a Shinigami or a Quincy and more like you Hollows." Bleach: Heat the Soul

Yuki Matsuoka Stephanie Sheh Claudia Motta (Latin America)

Orihime Inoue ( , Inoue Orihime) is a Human living inKarakura Town. She is a student at Karakura High School, where she is in the same class as Ichigo Kurosaki and her best friend, Tatsuki Arisawa. Contents [show] Appearance

Orihime's initial hairstyle. Orihime is a teenager of average height. She has brown eyes[4] and long, waist-length burnt orange hair. Her most noticeable physical trait is her slender yet curvaceous figure for a teenager, especially in terms of her large breasts. She wears her hair in bangs tucked behind her ears with hairpins, which she only removes to sleep[5], as they are worn in the memory of her brother.[6] Orihime initially wears her hair with a full but parted fringe before pulling most of her bangs behind her ears as she was ready to leave for Soul Society, a change noted by Tatsuki.[7] Seventeen months after Aizen's defeat, Orihime's hair becomes fuller and wavier. Her bangs naturally frame her face without her hair clips and also hang over her ears.[8] She stops wearing her hair clips and instead keeps them clipped onto the left collar of her school uniform.[9] Personality

Orihime's depiction of herself in the future. Orihime is independent, friendly, humorous, sensitive, caring and kind. She comes off as naive and rather clueless, which is at odds with her exceptionally high marks in school.[10] She studies hard because when her grades drop, she receives less financial support from her relatives.[11] She is a member of the Handicrafts Club[12] and likes to invent very ridiculous sports to play with Tatsuki (such as "base-cer," a combination of baseball and soccer).[13] She tends to zone out with her mouth open and loses track of what she was thinking or dreaming about. She has an over-active imagination and gets carried away thinking of implausible scenarios, such as portraying herself as a futuristic and highly destructive robot in an assignment asking a student "How do you see yourself in the future?".[14]

Orihime likes Asian flower print clothing and comedies. While she does eat some normal food, Orihime cooks and eats unusual meals, which other people often find unappetizing. Her favorite food is red bean paste and she likes putting butter on sweet potatoes.[1] She enjoys cheese and butter most of the time. Orihime has demonstrated that she is perceptive when it comes to people's mental and emotional state, especially in regards to Ichigo, as she is able to tell what kind of driving force is pushing someone. She additionally has a crush on Ichigo and later falls in love with him.[15] She has exhibited traits that appear to have some connection with Ichigo, such as the ability to detect Ichigo by scent, [16] sense hisSpiritual Pressure even when masked by the Visored, and an awareness of what mood Ichigo is in, sensing his feelings of anguish, disappointment, or worry, even feeling pain herself when she sees Ichigo getting hurt.[17]

Powers & Abilities

One half of the Shun Shun Rikka in their sealed state. Shun Shun Rikka Shun Shun Rikka (, Six Flowers of the Hibiscus Shield; Viz: Six Princess Shielding Flowers): Orihime's spirit energy is harbored in the pair of hairpins that she got from her brother. Shun Shun Rikka is composed of six spirits. Orihime has four techniques, which use the spirits in combination with a spirit chant and the technique name.[259] Only spiritually aware beings can see them.[260] They reside in her hair-clips, which are shaped like six-petaled flowers. Each fairy is two points on a given clip when inactive.[261] Through various combinations of the six fairies, Orihime has the power to reject phenomena by denying or undoing events in various forms.[262] This power can be used for attack, defense, or healing (depending on the combination). Orihime's determination directly influences the effectiveness of her powers. Feelings like doubt or worry make them weaker, while conviction makes them stronger. The Visored Hachigen Ushda comments that her hair pins, being the physical manifestation of her powers, is very much like the Zanpakut of a Shinigami, and that her powers resemble his own powers.[263] The Arrancar Tesra, when holding Orihime captive, warns her not to try to attack him, as he can easily break the physical container of her Shun Shun Rikka, the hair pins themselves, stating that they are ridiculously weak.[264] Ssuke Aizen, in his explanation of the Hgyoku, states that Orihime's

powers were actually awakened by the Hgyoku; when she cursed her powerlessness with all her heart, the Hgyoku answered her desire.[265] The spirits are separate manifestations of Orihime's spirit, each with its own unique appearance and personality. Each are named after a flower: Ayame

Ayame.

Ayame (, Iris) Voiced by, Tomoe Sakuragawa, English Philece Sampler

Ayame has a quiet personality. She wears a dress larger than her body. She, along with Shun', is in charge of Shun Shun Rikka's healing ability.[266]

Baigon. Baigon

Baigon (, Ume) Voiced by, Kiyoyuki Yanada, English: Liam O'Brien

Baigon is a bald male spirit. He wears a mask that covers the bottom of his face. Baigon is part of Shun Shun Rikka's defense. He is brawny, and has a large body.[266]

Hinagiku. Hinagiku

Hinagiku (, Daisy) Voiced by, Daisuke Kishio, English: Kirk Thornton

Hinagiku is a highly energetic male spirit. He wears a large eye patch that ends in a horn. Hinagiku is part of Shun Shun Rikka's defense.[266]

Lily. Lily

Lily (, Lily) Voiced by Rie Kugimiya, English: Kate Higgins

Lily is a female spirit with bright pink hair, transparent yellow goggles, and a blue bathing suit. She has a tattoo on her backside. Lily is part of Shun Shun Rikka's defense. She has a futuristic style.[266]

Shun'. Shun'

Shun' (, Althea) Voiced by Junko Noda, English: Dorothy Elias-Fahn, Latin American Spanish: Javier Olgun

Shun' is a friendly young male spirit (who appears to be female in the anime) with a topknot. He and Tsubaki are usually the ones who talk to Orihime. He, along with Ayame, is in charge of Shun Shun Rikka's healing ability.[266]

Tsubaki. Tsubaki

Tsubaki (, Camellia) Voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa, English: Wally Wingert, Latin American Spanish: Jorge Ornelas

Tsubaki is a fiery male spirit. He is the only Shun Shun Rikka spirit capable of direct attack. He often strikes anyone who gets on his nerves (including Orihime). Because he is primarily focused on attacking, he is vulnerable to counter-attacks, and has been injured several times. The stronger Orihime's anger and killing intent, the more powerful he becomes. However, Orihime's timid nature limits his overall power, and has contributed to his injuries in the past. At one point, Tsubaki was killed by the Espada Yammy Llargo, who crushed Tsubaki into tiny pieces. Orihime was distraught by this, and since the pieces were too small to find, she couldn't bring Tsubaki back. But due to meeting Hachi, whose powers are similar to Orihime's, Tsubaki is restored by Hachi, despite Hachi having no pieces of him.[267][266]

Techniques Orihime's techniques involve incantations and manipulating the Shun Shun Rikka into different groups. Though Orihime initially needed to recite their kotodama to use her techniques, further training has rendered this unnecessary. Her kotodama consists of voicing the names of the members involved, followed by the technique name and the phrase "I reject" (, watashi wa kyozetsu suru), a reference to the nature of her powers.[268]

Santen Kesshun.

Santen Kesshun (, Three Sacred Links Shield): is Orihime's defensive technique. It repels attacks by placing a shield between the enemy and Orihime.[266] The incantation arranges Hinagiku, Lily, and Baigon into a triangle which has the ability to repel the "outer shield." A 'shield' is raised between her and her enemy, and they repel the attack she receives.[269] Because the barrier rejects negative events, it can also function as an airbag of sorts, allowing Orihime and anyone else nearby to survive a potentially lethal fall unharmed.[270] Orihime is later able to shape Santen Kesshun into a dome-shaped barrier large enough to easily hold herself and other individuals.[271]

Sten Kisshun.

Sten Kisshun (, Twin Sacred Return Shield): is Orihime's "healing" technique. It surrounds something and returns it to the way it was before it was destroyed.[266] It rejects, reverses, and reconstructs phenomena that have occurred, even phenomena that Orihime hasn't witnessed. When Sten Kisshun is used, she can reject and reconstruct subjects that are covered in her shield.[272] The incantation summons Ayame and Shun' to form a half-oval barrier around whatever or whomever Orihime wishes. Their ability is to repel the "inner shield." The shield placed inside means that they repel the damage within a limited area. In other words, they return a subject covered by the shield to the state that they were in before taking damage.[273] Orihime fully restored Grimmjow's destroyed arm from nothing. Ssuke Aizendescribes this as "The Rejection of Events". Her ability is to limit, reject, and negate any kind of event that has happened to her target. It is an ability that returns her target to its former state, no matter what has happened to them. Yasochika Iemura comments that the technique's healing speed is potentially faster than Isane Kotetsu's and his own.[274] However, it is far more powerful than "Temporal Regression" or "Spatial Regression"; it is a power that trespasses into

God's territory.[275] Originally, Orihime wasn't able to restore a destroyed Tsubaki, but Hachigen Ushda states that since she has powers very close to his own, she should be able to restore him to his original form, even without a shattered fragment.[276] Later, she can fully resurrect the dead.[277] While Orihime can heal wounds quickly, it takes longer for her to replenish the patient's Reiatsu.[278] Large amounts of foreign spiritual pressure around a wound makes her power to reject ineffective.[279]

Koten Zanshun.

Koten Zanshun (, Solitary Sacred Cutting Shield): is Orihime's offensive technique. It rejects the fusion of matter and splits it.[266] The incantation summons Tsubaki, who has the ability to repel "both sides of the shield." He breaks through the enemy, puts up a shield inside, and repels the combined substance, splitting the enemy in two.[280] While Tsubaki can cut through basically anything, Orihime's general dislike of combat and hesitance to use lethal force degrades the effectiveness of the technique, making him easy to counter and equally easy to injure.[281]

Shiten Kshun.

Shiten Kshun (, Shield of Four Heavens' Resistance): is one of Orihime's techniques. It combines Shun Shun Rikka's offensive and defensive properties. The incantation integrates Tsubaki into the center of her Santen Kesshun ability, creating a pyramidal shield which, at the very instant of receiving an attack, disperses the resultant force as a concentrated explosion which is automatically returned along the attack's opposing trajectory.[282]

Abilities Spiritual Awareness: Orihime has a good amount of skill in detecting spiritual energy. She can sense Hollows and ongoing battles at a significant distance. If she concentrates, she can even sense Reiatsu of people within protective barriers.[283] Spiritual Power: Orihime is able to get close to several battles between powerful opponents without being overwhelmed, such as the battles between Ulquiorra and Grimmjow, as well as Ichigo and Ulquiorra. During her basic training in Kid with Kkaku Shiba, it was shown that Orihime has a natural talent for precise spiritual energy control, as she quickly mastered the technique. Her Reiatsu is goldenyellow.[284] Durability: Orihime is strong enough to survive separate assaults by Loly and Menoly, which involved physical attacks and the use of Bala,[285] and minor assaults by Nnoitra and Tesra. It is also stated by a few people that she has a strong head. Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: While a pacifist by nature, Orihime has a natural talent for martial arts. She reveals that Tatsuki has trained her somewhat in karate. According to Tatsuki, Orihime has the fighting skill of a black belt. Orihime is skillful enough to incapacitate two unseated Shinigami soldiers when she surprise attacks them.[286][287] Memory Chikan Resistance: Orihime was able to recall the event of her brother fighting Ichigo Kurosaki, even though the memory chikan has been used on her by Rukia.[288] Appearances in Other Media

Orihime has appeared in every Bleach video game to date, mostly as a playable character. Several of these games have expanded her Shun Shun Rikka's abilities, which she uses her Santen Kesshun for offensive tactics. In games where she is a supporting character, she normally uses her healing ability to replenish the life of the character. Orihime has also appeared in all four Bleach movies.

Trivia

Enraku.

According to her character profile by Tite Kubo, Orihime's theme song isT'en va pas by Elsa.[1]

She ranked 8th in the most recent Bleach popularity poll[289] (she placed highly in previous polls placing 5th, 12th and 10th). Orihime owns a pink teddy called Enraku which gets knocked over duringAcidwire's attack.[290] Enraku was ranked #53 during the first popularity poll run by Weekly Shnen Jump. Orihime's Shun Shun Rikka came 33rd tying with 2 others in the Zanpakut popularity poll. The color of Orihime's eyes vary from the manga to the anime. They are shown as brown in the manga while the anime depicts them as silver or gray.

Quotes

"I was proud of my hair color that my brother admired. I was happy to be told such things, so I grew my hair out ever since I was little. Soon after I entered middle school, 3rd years said they didn't like my hair color and cut it. I had no choice but to cut the rest short to even it out. I couldn't tell brother. "I felt like changing it" is what I said to dodge the question. Then my brother died soon after. I became alone. I stopped talking, even at school, and became more alone than ever before. The one who stopped me from being that way was Tatsuki-chan. Tatsukichan yelled at me for backing down and she looked out for me. I could grow my hair out again thanks to her. I will never have short hair again, because my long hair is proof of my faith in Tatsuki-chan."[291] (To Numb Chandelier) "'I will not forgive those who hurt Tatsuki!"[292] (Thinking about Tatsuki Arisawa) "Thank you, Tatsuki. Please do not worry, Tatsuki. Because Tatsuki will come find me, that's why I can go anywhere without worry. If the place I'm going is somewhere Tatsuki can't go, then please wait for me here, I will come back for sure. Come back to Tatsuki's side."[293] (To Rukia Kuchiki) "It's not frustrating at all. It's just... it's going to be lonely, not being able to fight alongside everyone. But being lonely isn't nearly as bad as being in the way. If I'm just going to be a hindrance to Kurosaki-kun, to everyone, then it's far better to be lonely"[294] (To Ichigo Kurosaki, who is asleep) "Kurosaki-kun, you know I had a lot of things I wanted to do... I want to be a teacher... I also want to be an astronaut... and also make my own cake shop... I want to go to the sweets bakery and say 'I want one of everything'... Ohhhh, I wish I could live life five times over. Then Id be born in five different places, and Id stuff myself with different food from around the world... Id live five different lives with five different occupations... and then, for those five times... Id fall in love with the same person..."[295] "I don't believe that he showed me the Hgyoku because he trusts me... but, at least I have learned the location of the Hgyoku... and... about my own power, too. Everything that has occurred... it reverses it all, and destroys the very event itself. Thank you, Kurosaki-kun, for

coming to save me, but I've found something I must do here. And it's definitely...something only I can do. With my power... I will return the Hgyoku to before it ever existed!"[296]

(To Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck) "Kurosaki-kun... doesn't assure us he is going to win for that reason. Kurosaki-kun is a kind person. Whenever he uses strong words, it's like he's making a promise. I believe that, he makes a promise to himself. I think that he expresses his feelings in words so that he will follow through. So that's why it's okay. When Kurosaki-kun says he is going to win, he'll win for sure. So...so that's why we should wait and believe in him."[297] (To Ichigo Kurosaki) "Don't die! Kurosaki-kun! I don't mind if you don't win. You don't even have to try. So please, don't get yourself hurt any more..."[298] (To Ulquiorra Cifer) "Maybe it's impossible to feel exactly the same way as another person, but it's possible for people to care about one another and to place their hearts as close together as they can manage. I'm sure that's what it means to make your hearts as one."[299] (To Yasutora Sado) "It's like, even though we're human, we can just spend time here in Hueco Mundo like it's normal now. Helping out all the Arrancar people, doing our best to help the Shinigami protect their home...it's just kind of nice, don't you think? I kind of wish things could stay like this forever. All of us together, helping each other out, trying to do what's best for everyone's worlds...and one day we look back and realize the start of the war just never came..."[300]
