Guided Instruction Explain to the students the purpose of a Web Quest project. Tell them that a Web Quest directs students to learn about a specific topic on a deeper level. They get to investigate different areas of that subject. The one for this lesson will be on the topic of the Gold Rush. Put the Web Quest up on the teacher computer and project it to the class on the document camera. Detail what is expected as they work through this project and give them a visual example what each step looks like. Once the Web Quest is done, the students can go back to their desk and hand draft a conclusion about what they have learned. When a computer is available, each student will then be directed to post that writing in their Gold Rush blog that they started at the beginning of the unit. Independent Activity Students will visit the Web Quest on the Gold Country and write a conclusion stating how the Gold Rush affected CA in the areas of politics, economy and immigration. Students will post the conclusion on your Gold Rush blog. Homework For homework this evening, students should complete any unfinished work from the Web Quest. They should also show an adult what they learned. <
