General Requirements
To use a 'Voice Control' version of FS2Crew, you need to meet the following requirements: Minimums: Microsoft Flight Simulator (FSX or FS9 depending on the version of FS2Crew). A microphone. A legal copy of the associated host aircraft. Unless your FS2Crew is for a 'default' aircraft that ships with FSX or FS9 out-of-the-box, FS2Crew does not include the 3rd party host aircraft. FS2Crew is a 'stand-alone' program that functions with your existing aircraft.

Host Aircraft Requirements:

PMDG 737 NGX SPECIAL BUNDLE PACK: Required Aircraft: PMDG 737 NGX. Available from PMDG at: www.precisionmanuals.com. Software Version: Service Pack 1C or later.

Speech Recognition Requirements: XP users must install SAPI if it's not already installed. Windows Vista or Windows 7 users, particularly those from outside the United States, must be able to set their Speech Recognition language setting to ENGLISH - US. Please consult the Speech Recognition Setup page for more information.

USB headset. Windows 7 - 64.

Notes: 1. A generic, no-name brand USB headset is usually sufficient. An expensive, noise-cancelling headset is a plus, but it's hardly necessary. FS2Crew highly recommends USB headsets because they are much easier to configure and setup compared to the old style 'plug-in-a-jack' type headsets. 2. Windows 7 64 handles memory much better than XP. If you're still using XP or Vista, FS2Crew recommends upgrading to Windows 7 64. In addition, if you have a non-English version of Windows, FS2Crew recommends that you purchase either an 'English' or ''Ultimate' version of Windows so that you can easily meet the requirements for Speech Recognition. 3. If you cannot meet the requirements for Speech Recognition, FS2Crew recommends using a Button Control version of the software instead. 4. The host aircraft should have all the latest updates installed and be correctly configured before installing FS2Crew. Make sure the host aircraft is working well with no problems before installing FS2Crew!

1. Ensure you have SP1c installed. SP1c is ONLY available in the PMDG Support Forum at Avsim. If in doubt, re-install it. SP1b is NOT sufficient. If SP1c or later is not installed, FS2Crew will not function properly! 2. Setup Speech Recognition. Don't forget to train your Voice! 3. Go to Windows Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Communications. Select "Do Nothing" when Windows detects communication activity and click apply. 4. Open the FS2Crew PMDG 737 Configuration Manager and press the "Enable FS2Crew Voice Control" button. (Important: Ensure UAC is disabled and run the Config Manager as an Admin). 5. Setup Soft Mute and Hard Mute. 6. Learn how to open the FS2Crew Main panel. 7. Ensure your NGX loads by default into the 2D Cockpit, and not the VC. 8. Ensure the default aircraft loaded by FSX is NOT the NGX or any other 3rd party aircraft, but rather the Trike. (This is also a PMDG recommended procedure). 9. Read how the in-simulation FS2Crew Main and Configuration panels operate. 10. Print out the Flows manual. 11. Print out the Voice Commands and Voice Checklist Manual. This is the heart of the simulation. You MUST print this section otherwise you will be lost! 12. Ensure the PMDG 737 NGX's built in FO callouts are disabled. 13. Speech Recognition Setup


Your Speech Recognition setup varies depending on your Operating System. Please select your Operating System below:

Step 1: XP users may or may not have the required 'Speech Recognition API' (SAPI) installed on their computer. Step 2: How to install SAPI: 1. Create a temporary folder on your desktop. You can give it any name. 2. Double click the 'SpeechSDK51.exe' file you just downloaded. 3. You will be asked to extract the contents of the exe to a folder. 4. Click the 'Browse' button and select your temporary folder, then press 'Unzip'. 5. Open your temporary folder, and double-click "Setup.exe". 6. When done, you can delete the temporary folder.

Step 3: Your Speech Properties panel in XP should look like the following screen shot:

Step 4: Press 'Train Profile' to run the voice training.

Step 1: Open the 'Windows Speech Recognition' panel via the Windows Control Panel. You can locate this panel easily by typing "speech recognition" in the Search Box on the Windows Control page page as shown below.

Step 2: Microsoft's 'Windows Speech Recognition' system must be OFF prior to loading Flight Simulator.

To ensure Windows Speech Recognition does not load on Windows Startup, make sure 'Run Speech Recognition at Startup' is unchecked on the Speech Properties -> Speech Recognition page, which is located in the Windows Control Panel.

Make Sure 'Run Speech Recognition at startup' is UNCHECKED!

Step 3: The 'Language' setting on the Speech Properties -> Speech Recognition page must be set to ENGLISH - US.

This is a CRITICAL step that is often overlooked by users from English speaking countries other than the United States, especially those from the UK and Australia.

If you are running a non-English 'Home' version of Windows 7 or Vista, and you cannot set your speech language setting to English - US, you have four options: 1. Upgrade to Windows 'Ultimate' or 'Enterprise'. 'Ultimate' or 'Enterprise' owners are able to download and install the English language pack from Microsoft, but 'Home' version owners cannot. 2. Downgrade to Windows XP. 3. Install Vistalizator. Vistalizator will switch your OS to English. Many FS2Crew users from non-English speaking countries have used Vistalizator successfully so they can enjoy the benefits of Voice Control. (Note: To use Vistalizator, you do not need to uninstall Windows 7 SP1... all you need to do is run Vistalizator in compatibility mode.) 4. Use a 'Button Control ' version of FS2Crew instead of Voice Control.

Step 4: Run the Voice Training so the computer can learn your voice. This is a CRITICAL step. If you don't run the voice training, your speech recognition accuracy rates will not be high. You may even want to run the voice training more than once.

Mute Key Setup


'Mute' is used to prevent the virtual First Officer/ PNF from acting on any inputs received by the Speech Recognition system. 'Mute' is useful when communicating with on-line ATC, or if you do not anticipate communicating the the virtual First Officer for extended periods of time. There are two kinds of Mute: Soft Mute and Hard Mute.

Soft Mute
Used when you only want to employ Mute temporarily, such as when communicating with on-line ATC. Works on a "Push-to-Hold" basis. If using on-line ATC, you would assign 'Soft Mute' to the same key used for your ATC 'Push-to-Talk (PTT) switch'. An "M" symbol will appear in the left hand side of the FS2Crew Main Panel display area when operating. By default, the LEFT or RIGHT CONTROL key acts as the SOFT MUTE KEY. To create a Soft Mute key assignment in addition to the default LEFT and RIGHT CONTROL KEY, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'PROPELLER SYNC (ON/OFF)' in the FSX 'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu.

Important Reminder: Even with mute enabled, the Speech Recognition will still detect any inputs received via your microphone; in fact, you will still see activity in the Green Bar that displays what the Speech Recognition system is 'detecting'. The difference, however, is that the virtual FO will not act on any words or phrases the speech the Speech Recognition system detects. For example, if you cough, and the Speech Recognition system somehow interprets that as "Gear Down", you will still see "Gear Down" in the Green Bar, but the FO will not put the gear down.

Hard Mute
Used when you want to employ Mute for extended periods of time. Works on a Toggle On/Off basis. An "M+" symbol will appear in the left hand side of the FS2Crew Main Panel display when operating. Can be toggled On/Off by pressing the "HM" button on the FS2Crew Main Panel. Can also be toggled On/Off by creating a keyboard or joystick assignment for ALTERNATE STATIC (ON/OFF) in the FSX 'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu.

The NGX needs to load by default into the 2D cockpit, never the VC or Spot View. This is to ensure the aircraft initializes properly. After the 2D cockpit loads, you can switch to the VC view if desired.

To ensure that no duplicate V1, VR and V2 calls are heard, please set the "F/O CALLOUT"' options below to 'NO" via the "SIMULATION" menu in the PMDG 737 NGX's FMC.

Please ensure that the F/O's altimeter syncs to the Captain's altimeter as shown below. SYNC CAPT AND F/O BAR TO 'YES'. SYNC CAPT AND STBY BARO TO 'NO'. Note: the other options, such as Service-Based failures, can be set at your discretion.

Troubleshooting
FS2Crew has years of experience developing flight simulation products. The following solutions can be used to solve problems you may experience. Problem: I'm getting a Crash to Desktop (CTD) when I load the host Aircraft, and the the error message refers to 'FS2AUDIO.DLL'. Solutions: 1. If you have two sound cards running in parallel, disable one of them. 2. If you are running any program in the background that that attempt to strip Digital Music Rights (DRM) from music, such as Tune Bite, Sound Taxi or Sound Bite, please disable them. They interfere with FS2Crew's Audio Engine. Some of these types of programs are legal in parts of Europe, but they are not legal in the United Sates. 3. Re-install FS2Crew again, but do not click 'cancel' during the install. Wait for the install to finish. 4. If using a Creative Labs X-Fi Extreme Audio Sound Card, uninstall the latest driver and re-install the original driver off the CD that came with your Sound Card. The latest driver conflicts with the FS2Crew Audio engine. 5. Sometimes users have corrupt versions of the FSX.CFG file. Delete the FSX.CFG file. It will re-build automatically when you load FSX. Your FSX.CFG file is located here: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX Windows Vista/ 7: \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Problem: The 'VOICE' button on the FS2Crew Main Panel will not stay on. Solution:

1. If using Vista or Windows 7, ensure your Speech Recognition Language Setting is set to English - US. This is something users from the UK or Australia often miss. If using XP, ensure you installed SAPI.

2. Check for error messages in the 'Speech Recognition Init Log', which will be available via the FS2Crew Configuration Manager.

In 99 percent of all cases the problem is because you forget to set your Speech Recognition Language Setting to English - US if using Vista or Windows 7, but sometimes the problem is associated with having a corrupt system that prevents the Speech Recognition engine from loading properly, particularly if the Speech Recognition Init log shows this error:

We're finding that some 3rd party programs that perform Systems Repair/Mechanic type functions may be damaging the user's Registry, which in turns damages the speech recognition system that comes with Windows. In these cases you'll find that all 3rd party programs on your computer that use Microsoft's Speech Recognition API will be non-functional, not just FS2Crew. Vista / Windows 7 users have resolved this problem by re-installing Windows. We also suggest trying a Systems Restore. XP users can try uninstalling SAPI and then re-installing it.

If you get this error:


Creating the ISpAudio object... Error Code: 0x8004503a

Check your USB headset. It may be faulty. Exit Flight Simulator, and try loading FS2Crew again but with your USB headset unplugged.

Problem: When using the FS Video Marshaller, my computer crashes. Solution: 1. You must be in 'Windowed'', not 'Full-Screen' mode when using the Video Marshaller. You can switch between video screen modes by pressing ALT ENTER on your keyboard. Only attempt to open the FS Video Marshaller panel via the FS2Crew Main Panel if you are in Windowed Mode.

Problem: During flight, I get random crashes. Solution: 1. Random crashes can be attributable to numerous different sources and can be very complex to troubleshoot. They are often connected to bad video and audio drivers. Also, certain 3rd party scenery or AI traffic in Flight Simulator can be faulty and eat up huge amounts of memory. If you get a random crash, you should try flying in an area that does not use 3rd party scenery or AI traffic. Certain 3rd party scenery add-ons are infamous for causing problems. FS2Crew adds very little overhead to the simulation in terms of memory usage. FS2Crew is not a heavy graphic program, and heavy graphics are what eat up the largest amounts of memory. If you're experiencing random crashes, you may want to adjust your FSX display sliders to the left as you may be hitting FSX's 4 GB internal memory limit. You may simply be pushing your system too hard. You may also want to consider deleting your FSX.CFG file as it may be corrupt. FSX will rebuild a new FSX.cfg file when it loads. 2. Upgrading to Windows 7 - 64 bits (or later) is highly recommended. Windows 7 handles memory more efficiently than XP or Vista.

Problem: I'm experiencing a frame rate drop. Solution: 1. Ensure your speech recognition language is set up properly. If it's not, your system will grind to a halt. 2. Double check your Sound Card settings. One beta tester cranked his sound card's settings up to 24 bit (192,000) and had some frame rate loss. When he returned his sound card settings to their default settings - 16 bit (44,000) - his frame rates returned to normal.

Problem: I cannot hear the FO's voice. Solution: 1. Check your audio setup. If using a headset, ensure you've selected the associated Audio Device on the FS2Crew Configuration Panel. As a test, make sure HS (Headset) is unchecked on the FS2Crew Main Panel. This way all sound should be routes through your main speakers. Sometimes users just have complex audio hardware setups, and they just need to experiment with their audio hardware settings. Also consider getting a USB headset: USB headsets can resolve a lot of problems due to their simplicity.

Problem: My voice recognition results are not very good. Solution: 1. Check your audio setup. 2. Get a USB headset. 3. Be sure to run the Voice Training . 4. Speak in a neutral mid-western American style accent in a clear and distinct way. 5. Reduce ambient background noise as much as possible. 6. Upgrade to Windows 7 - 64 or later. The Windows 7 speech recognition engine is better than XP's.

Problem: Speech recognition is having problems detecting certain words. Can I train the speech recognition system for "specific" words? Solution: 1. Yes, you can use the dictation facility in Windows. 2. First, start 'Windows Speech Recognition' (this is not the FS2Crew Speech Recognition system, but rather the speech recognition system that comes with Windows). 3. Open a text document. 4. Next, dictate a list of words you are having trouble with. 5. Every time the speech recognizer makes a mistake, use the "CORRECT THAT" voice command. This effectively train the speech recognition engine to recognize how you pronounce these words. You may need to dictate and correct the same words multiple times until the recognition rate improves.

Problem: I spoke "LANDING CHECKLIST", and "Landing Checklist" was displayed in the Green Bar. So I know the Speech Recognition system detected the correct phrase, but nothing happened. The FO never replied. Solution: 1. You were probably in the wrong FS2Crew Mode. The displayed mode in the FS2Crew Main Panel must match the checklist you are attempting to use. For example, in order for the Landing Checklist to work, the mode in the FS2Crew Main Panel must say "LANDING".

Problem: The FO is acting strange. For example, the beacon was on, yet during the checklist he said "Are you sure"? during the beacon challenge. Solution:

1. You need to ensure you have installed SP1C or later. SP1B is not sufficient. SP1C is currently available via the PMDG Support Forum only. Re-install it if in doubt. 2. Ensure that the TRIKE is the default aircraft loaded by FSX. NEVER HAVE THE NGX OR ANOTHER 3RD PARTY AS YOUR DEFAULT AIRCRAFT.

3. You need to ensure that the NGX loads by default into the 2D cockpit, never the VC, via the FSX setting shown below here:

Problem: I cannot open the FS2Crew Main Panel via the clickspot in the Virtual Cockpit. Solution: 1. If you have extra, non-FS2Crew, 3rd party panel windows installed on the NGX's panel.cfg file from other addons, you may be bumping into a panel limit. The solution is to use the available MAIN PANEL JOYSTICK/KEYBOARD ASSIGNMENT to open the Main Panel.

Problem: The text in the FS2Crew Panel windows seems much too large. Solution:

1. Reset your Windows Font size to the default setting: 100 percent.

Problem: When I switch the VC panel, the FS2Crew volume drops. Solution: 1. This is an an FSX issue. You can reset the FS2Crew volume by re-opening the FS2Crew Main Panel while in the VC.

Problem: When calling for the 'DESCENT CHECKLIST', the FO says "I AM READY FOR THE BRIEF". Solution: 1. You need to run the Approach Briefing on the BRIEF PAGE before calling for the Descent Checklist. If you do not want to run the brief, speak "ARE YOU READY FOR THE APPROACH BRIEF?" Close the brief by asking "ANY QUESTIONS?"

Problem:Aspertheinstructions,IassignedakeycommandforSoftMute,HardMuteandtogglingtheMainPanelintheFSXSETTINGSCONTROL menu, but they do not work. I press the assigned keyboard button and nothing happens. Solution: 1. YouhaveamatchingkeyboardassignmentinthePMDGFMCs'KEY COMMANDS' section that is conflicting. Create different keyboard assignments. Or delete the PMDG keyboard assignment. FS2Crew and the PMDG NGX cannot share the same keyboard assignments. For example, if 'X' is used as a keyboard assignment in the PMDG KEY COMMANDS menu, you cannot use 'X' as a FS2Crew key assignment.

Problem: I clicked the Standby Attitude Indicator gauge area to open the FS2Crew Main Panel , but the Main Panel did not open. Solution: 1. Run the FS2Crew PMDG 737 NGX Configuration Manager and ensure you pressed 'Enable' FS2Crew. That will result in the FS2Crew Windows and Gauges being dynamically added to your PMDG 737 NGX Panel.CFG file.

2. MAKE SURE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL (UAC) IS DISABLED AND THAT YOU'RE RUNNING THE FS2CREW CONFIG MANAGER AS AN ADMIN.

Problem: I commanded the FO to engage VNAV, LNAV, etc., and the FO did not engage VNAV, LNAV, etc. Solution: 1. The autopilot and/or FMC is probably not setup properly to accept a VNAV engagement command. When you ask the FO to engage, for example, VNAV, FS2Crew will send a 'signal' to the NGX via the PMDG SDK to engage VNAV. However, if the aircraft is not configured properly to engage VNAV, VNAV will not engage. In these situations, try clicking the VNAV button on the MCP with your mouse. If VNAV does not engage, make sure the autopilot is setup properly. Remember that for the 737's autopilot to engage, the controls must be centered first.

Problem: While using multi-player, I'm getting kicked for 'event flooding'. I'm also getting stuttering while using the Aivlasoft EFB. Solution: 1. There is a bug in the PMDG 737 NGX asociated with the FO's VSD display. The FO's VSD triggers 'event flooding' when it's turned on. The solution is to disable the FO's VSD via the PMDG options menu. 2. You can also stop FS2Crew from turning on the VSD by opening this file located in App Data with Notepad:

Problem: A different FO's voice announces V1, VR and V2. So I have duplicate calls. Solution: 1. Disable the V1, VR and V2 callouts that are available with the NGX via the 'Simulation' options menu in the PMDG NGX's FMC.

The FS2Crew PMDG 737 NGX Configuration Manager performs many important functions. You will need to run the Configuration Manager at least once to 'enable' FS2Crew. To open the Configuration Manager, please click the icon on your desktop as shown below:

You may also open the Configuration Manager via the Start Menu: Start -> All Programs -> FS2Crew2012

Configuration Manager General Features: The Configuration Manager is very simple, but certain features need to be highlighted. When you first start the Configuration Manager, the Configuration Manager will perform a self test. It will check for any available updates as well as check to ensure that FSX and the PMDG NGX are installed properly. If a FSX Registry problem is detected, you can fix it by using the Tweak FS Utility or by using the Flight1 Registry Repair Tool.

Enable FS2Crew Voice Control: Click to add the FS2Crew window and gauge entries to the PMDG 737 NGX's Panel.CFG file. Unlike previous versions of FS2Crew that simply swapped the entire Panel.CFG file with a FS2Crew modified version, this Config Manager adds the required FS2Crew Gauge and Window entries dynamically. This way any custom edits you may to your Panel.CFG will remain intact. The Config Manager will make a backup of your original Panel.CFG file. You can remove FS2Crew from your PMDG 737's Panel.CFG file by clicking 'Disable FS2Crew Voice Control'. If you uninstall FS2Crew, your Panel.CFG will be automatically restored to its pre-FS2Crew condition. You can open your PMDG 737 NGX's Panel.CFG manually using Notepad. The Panel.CFG is located here: Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG 737-800NGX\panel\panel.cfg

Speech Recognition Engine Init Log: Only used for trouble-shooting purposes if the Speech Recognition engine is not loading. If the 'Voice' button on the FS2Crew Main Panel does not stay on, it means the Speech Recognition engine did not load correctly.

Cockpit Voice Recorder Log: Displays an activity log of all speech detected by the Speech Recognition Engine. Only used for trouble-shooting purposes.

Extra Notes: The version number of the Voice Control Product is listed above the airplane. The Configuration Manager has its own version number, which is listed in the bottom left hand corner.

To open and close the FS2Crew Main Panel in either the 2D or Virtual (VC) cockpit, left click in the center of the Standby Instrument Panel section as shown below.

Notes: 1. The appearance of this panel area depends on if your PMDG 737 NGX 'Standby Instruments' airline equipment option is set to 'ISFD' or 'Analog'.

Troubleshooting: 1. If you click this area, and the FS2Crew Main Panel does not open, it means that the FS2Crew window and gauge entries were not added to the PMDG 737's Panel.CFG file. You probably forgot to 'enable' FS2Crew via the FS2Crew 737 NGX Configuration Manager. You can manually check if FS2Crew

Special Tip: You can also assign a Keyboard or Joystick button to open and close the Main Panel. To create your "Toggle Main Panel" assignment, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'AUTOFEATHER (ARM/OFF)' in the FSX 'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu You can select any Joystick or Keyboard assignment (or both). IMPORTANT: Your PMDG 737 NGX cannot use the same key assignment for any PMDG 737 NGX Key Command function, or the Main Button will not work! So, for example, if you use "C" as your keyboard assignment for the Main Button, you cannot use "C" for any PMDG 737 NGX KEY ASSIGNMENTS.

Note: The Main Panel will appear in the top left corner of your monitor. If it is partially obstructed by the FS menu, hold down your ALT key to hide the FS menu.

MAIN DISPLAY / DISPLAY MODE: Active Checklist / Action Mode.

M: Soft Mute operating.

M+ (Flashing): Hard Mute operating.

* (Flashing): FS2Crew is in 'Descent Mode'. FS2Crew must be in 'Descent Mode' for certain approach and landing calls to play.

T+ / P / WAIT: Appears on the Main Display when the Pre-Flight event counter is running. Left click directly on the number itself to fast forward the time down to engine start. Note: You cannot fast forward the time down while the FO is performing his cockpit setup flows. When the FO is performing his cockpit setup flows, 'T+' will be replaced by 'WAIT'. 'Right Clicking' directly on the number will pause the countdown timer, and 'T+' will be replaced by a 'P'.

UP / DOWN ARROWS: Cycles Checklist/Action Mode forwards and backwards. Modes will normally automatically auto-cycle to the next selection for you. VOICE: Toggles voice recognition 'on' and 'off'. Generally,youshouldneverneedtoturnit'off'.However,iftheautopilotvaluesrunawayafteraskingtheFirstOfficer'FO'tosettheautopilot,you can toggle the voice engine OFF and ON to break this cycle. Also note that if the autopilot 'runs-away' you can also use the speech command 'CANCEL LAST COMMAND' to stop the run-away. If the Voice Button does not stay on, there is a problem with your Speech Recognition setup.

DSP: Toggles green bar on/off which displays what the speech engine hears through your microphone. HM: TogglesHard Muteon/off.IfHardMuteison,theFOwillnotactonanyinputdetectedbythespeechrecognitionengine. It's good practice to engage Hard Mute during any period (such as cruise) when you do not anticipate issuing any speech commands for an extended period of time. HS: Routes most First Officer audio through your headset. Ensure the audio device associated with your headset is selected in the Headset display in the Configuration panel. First Officer audio that is not routed through the headset includes situations in which the FO would not be wearing his headset during the pre-flight events.

Numbers 1 - 7 Beneath Buttons (Panel Switcher) Functions as a 'Panel View' Switcher. For example, instead of pressing 'A' to cycle to different Virtual Cockpit Views, you can skip directly to your desired camera. 'Right Click' the associated button to open the associated VC view. Important: You will need to manually edit the Aircraft.CFG file for each model. Click here for instructions.

BR: Press to open the Briefing Panel. FA: Press to call the Flight Attendant.

PA: Press to call the Public Address 'PA' page. Note: You can also open the PA panel by pressing the PA button on the Capt's audio console panel.

VM: Press to Open the FS Video Marshaller Panel. IF USING FSX, YOU MUST BE IN WINDOWED MODE OR YOU MAY GET A CRASH IF YOU ATTEMPT TO RUN THE VIDEO!!! Press ALT - ENTER to cycle video modes. CFG: Opens FS2Crew Configuration Panel . LK: Click to 'LOCK' the Main and CFG Panels (to force them to remain open even when FS automatically attempts to close them when you change views). NotethatwhenthepanelsareLocked,an=symbolwillappearinthelowerlefthandsectionofthemaindisplayarea. LT: Toggles night lighting on/off. VOL: Use the left/right mouse button to adjust the volume of the FO. CAB: Use the left/right mouse button to adjust the volume of the FA Cabin Announcements.

The Panel View Switcher function is used to quickly skip to pre-defined Camera Views used by the PMDG 737 NGX. To configure the Panel View Switcher, please follow the following steps:

1. Locate the Aircraft.CFG file for your desired PMDG 737 NGX model(s). 2. Note that each PMDG 737 NGX model will have its own model folder and its own individual Aircraft.CFG file. The PMDG 737 NGX models are located in this folder:

3. To be safe, make a backup copy of any Aircraft.CFGs you wish to edit. 4. Open the Aircraft.CFG file for each model with Notepad. 5. Scroll down and locate the sections with [CameraDefinition] in the header, for example: [CameraDefinition.001]

6. Note that there are may different camera definitions, one for each possible camera view. Each Camera Definition section has as 'Title' entry, so you know what Camera goes with which Definition. 7. Add the following entry to the bottom of each Camera Definition section, right below 'ClipMode=Minimum". HotKeySelect=X

Important: X = The button on the FS2Crew Main Panel to which you want connect to the associated Camera Definition.

Example 1: If you want to connect Button #5 on the FS2Crew Main Panel to the "Left Overwing" Camera, you would add the following line to the CameraDefinition.001 section: HotKeySelect=5

Example 2: If you want to connect Button #3 on the FS2Crew Main Panel to the "F/O Seat" Camera, you would add the following line to the CameraDefinition.010 section: HotKeySelect=3

8. Important: You may find that some HotKey assignments will override your default FSX view assignments. If that happens, just manually delete the desired HotKeySelect entry.

HEADSET: If using a headset, the audio device associated with the headset must be selected area.

CREW REGION: Select the available crew region for the Flight Crew accents. Available accents: United States, United Kingdom, Eurozone.

PRE-FLIGHT:

TIME: Time remaining to Departure / Engine Start. Please see the T+ / P/ WAIT section in the Main Panel Overview for additional information.

PWR SRC: Power and Air Source to be used at the Departure or Arrival Gate. There are three options: APU only (APU), External Power with the Air Start Cart (EXT/AS) or External Power with the Air Conditioning Cart (EXT/AC). Note that in the real-world, it would be extremely rare to use the Air Conditioning Cart and Air Start Cart at the same time. The FO will bring the selected power source on-line automatically during his initial setup. If using External Power, you are responsible for manually starting the APU if required for engine start. You are responsible for disconnecting external power.

RUN PF: Starts the Pre-Flight Events routine. Running the Pre-Flight Events is OPTIONAL. You do not need to run it for every flight. You can skip the Pre-Flight events section if desired. Prior to pressing 'Run-PF, ensure you have loaded either the NGX CLDDRK, NGX LONG or NGX SHORT panel states from the PMDG 737's FMC's "LOAD PANEL STATE MENU". AES: If using AES, select 'Yes'. If 'Yes' selected, FS2Crew not control either the doors or the air bridge. Special Note: If using GSX, also select AES to 'Yes' since GSX and AES are very similar. DOORS: If you want FS2Crew to control the external doors, select 'Yes'. GATE DEP: If departing from a Gate, select 'Yes', otherwise select 'No'. If 'No' is selected, FS2Crew will automatically deploy the air stairs. GATE ARR: If arriving at a Gate, select 'Yes', otherwise select 'No.' If 'No' is selected, FS2Crew will automatically deploy the air stairs. ASDE-X: If you want the FO to leave the Transponder on during taxi at airports that use ASDE-X to monitor ground traffic, select 'Yes'.

START-CREW: PB REQ: Pushback Required (Yes or No). DIST: Pushback Distance (Feet or Meters). Units of measurement (Feet or Meters) are connected to the 'Weight Units' option in the PMDG 'Displays' menu, which is accessible via the PMDG FMC. KGS displays Meters. Pounds displays Feet. It's recommended that you use the default distance value.

Notes: 1. You must setup the Briefing Panel for each flight, as many of the selections, such as those for 'Flaps', are used by the FO to determine his actions. 2. Click the top right hand screw to close the Briefing Page. 3. The Briefing Page can be opened by pressing the BR button on the Main Panel. 4. 'D-Height' stands for Decision Height. It's the altitude at which the FO will make the "Minimums" call during an approach. 'BARO' is used for approaches that reference the barometric altimeter, such as a CAT I ILS approach. 'RADIO' is used for approaches that references the Radio Altimeter, such as CAT II or III approaches. Whether BARO or RADIO is displayed depends on your MINS selector position on the Capt's EFIS Panel.

5. Two kinds of ILS Approaches are available, depending on your aircraft's available equipment: FAIL PASSIVE (FAIL PASS) and FAIL OPERATIONAL (FAIL OP). 6. Playing the Approach Briefing is the trigger for the FO to start his Descent flow, which will start approximately 30 seconds after the brief has finished playing. 7. For 'D-Height', you can also 'right click' the arrows to increment the Decision Height value in increments of 10 to save time. Tip: To increment D-Height in increments of 100 feet, left/right click the black display area that contains the D-Height Value.

Flows
Multi-crew flying is like a highly choreographed role-play, and the pilots are the actors. 'Flows' refer to the specific sequence of actions each crew member performs during certain stages of the flight. It's like an actor's script. For example, when entering the runway, the crew would perform their 'Before Takeoff Flows': the First Officer would perform a series of actions in a preset order, as would the Captain. In the simulation, each flow has a defined 'trigger point'. In order for the virtual First Officer to start his 'flow' in the simulation, the trigger point must be hit.

Engine Start (NO EXTERNAL AIR USED) 1. Announce the start sequence: "START SEQUENCE IS 2 THEN 1". 2. CallSTART ENGINE 2. 3. Verify the N2 RPM increases. 4. When N1 rotation is seen and N2 is at 25% (or at maximum motoring and a minimum of 20% N2), select fuel lever #2 to run (IDLE DETENT).* 5. Monitor N1, N2, EGT, fuel flow and oil pressure for normal indications. 6. When the engine is stable, start the other engine. 7. CallSTART ENGINE 1. 8. At approx 20 percent N2, select fuel lever #1 to run (idle detent). * 'Maximum Motoring' occurs when N2 acceleration is less than 1% in approximately 5 seconds.

Engine Start (EXTERNAL AIR USED) 1. Announce the start sequence: "START SEQUENCE IS 1 THEN 2". 2. Same procedure as above, BUT you will start the left engine (Engine #1) first. See 'Using External Air/Power' for more information.

Before Taxi 1. Wait for FO to finish the "first part" of his Before Taxi flow as listed in the FO Flows Section. 2. Afterthepushbackhasbeencompleted,callFLAPS____asneededfortakeoff(Unlessthetaxiwayiscontaminated,seeStep4). 3. If the runway is contaminated, taxi with the flaps up. Call "LEAVE THE FLAPS UP" instead of calling for the takeoff flaps. 4. Check flight controls with slow and deliberate movements. 5. CallBEFORE TAXI CHECKLIST. 6. Turn on the Taxi Light once taxi clearance received. 7. Call "CLEAR ON THE LEFT". 8. Start taxi.

Climb 1. CallGEAR UPafterPNFannouncesPOSITIVERATE. 2. 400feet:Callrollmode:SELECT HEADING SELECTorSELECT LNAV. 3. Foraircraftwithautomaticthrustreduction,callCLIMB THRUSTatthethrustreductionaltitudedependingonyourNADPprofile(thisisaverification call only). 4. For aircraft without automatic thrust reduction, call "SET CLIMB THRUST" at the thrust reduction altitude depending on your NADP profile. 5. CallSET FLAPS UP SPEEDorSELECT LEVEL CHANGEasrequired. 6. CallFLAPS___toretracttheflapsonschedule. 7. After flap retraction is complete, call for "SELECT VNAV". 8. Engageautopilot:CallSELECT COMMAND A. 9. CallAFTER TAKEOFF CHECKLIST. 10. At the Transition Altitude, set and crosscheck the altimeters to standard pressure.

Prior to Top of Descent 1. Select FMC approach procedure. 2. Set the Transition Level in the FMC 'DES FORECASTS' Page. (FS2Crew uses value this for the Transition Level call.) 3. For RNAV (RNP) approaches, inhibit other navaids as needed per NOTAM. 4. Note that engine out fail operational approaches to autoland available with flaps 30 only (performance permitting). 5. Verify/set RNP as appropriate for the procedure. 6. Set the RADIO/BARO minimums as need for the approach. 7. Make your selections on the FS2Crew Approach Briefing Page. Don't forget to enter the Decision Height/Altitude. 8. Play the Approach Briefing (or make the voice command: "ARE YOU READY FOR THE APPROACH BRIEF?" Close the brief by speaking: "ANY QUESTIONS?") 9. Verify VREF on the FMC 'APPROACH REF' Page. (You will need to manually add any wind additive to VREF). 10. Set or verify the navigation radios and course for the approach. 11. Set QNH in the Standby Altimeter. 12. CallDESCENT CHECKLISTaftertheFOcompleteshisdescentflow. Notes: If shooting a CAT II or CATIII Monitored ILS approach, you must set the DH selector to RADIO and select a Radio Altimeter value (i.e., 100 feet, 50 feet, etc). If shooting a non-Monitored Approach (ILS, VOR, NDB, RNAV), then you must set the DH selector to BARO, and select the Barometric Decision Altitude as found on your approach chart. If shooting a normal CAT 1 ILS approach, the barometric Decision Altitude is usually 200 feet above the runway elevation. So, for example, if the runway elevation is 110 feet, the Decision Altitude (BARO) is probably about 310 feet.

TRANSITION LEVEL PROCEDURE

1. The FO will announce "TRANSITION LEVEL" when passing the Transition Level you entered on the DESCENT FORECAST PAGE in the FMC. 2. Set local pressure on the Captain's altimeter (which shows in white below STD), and then press the STD button. 3. Then you need to announce the local altimeter setting: Example: "ALTIMETERS TWO NINER NINER EIGHT"

The FO will then read back his altimeter setting. Note: This is why it's important that the CAPT'S ALTIMETER and the FO's ALTIMETER be synchronized (the option is in the PMDG Options menu in the FMC.)

Approach 1. Update the arrival and approach procedures as needed. 2. Update RNP as needed. 3. CallAPPROACH CHECKLISTat10,000feetortheTransitionLevel,whicheverislower. Note: For airplanes with NPS, the flight crew may enter 125 feet for vertical RNP. While there are no vertical RNP values published on the approach chart, the use of 125 feet will cause the NPS amber deviation exceedance alert to occur at 75 feet or slightly less deviation, since vertical ANP will be at least 50 feet at all times.

Landing

1. CallFLAPS___asrequiredtobringtheflapsdownonschedule. 2. When on localizer intercept heading, verify that the ILS is tuned and identified and that the LOC and G/S pointers are shown. 3. Use HDG SEL to intercept the localizer. 4. Verify localizer captured. 5. Arm APP mode. 6. Engage both autopilots if making an autoland. 7. Passing the Outer Marker or Final approach Fix, call: "OUTER MARKER" or "FINAL APPROACH FIX". The FO will read back the altitude. Reply "CHECKED". 8. Atglideslopealive,callGEAR DOWNandFLAPS 15. 9. Arm the speed brake lever. 10. CallLANDING CHECKLIST. 11. The FO will run the checklist but will hold the checklist at the landing flap challenge. 12. Call for the final landing flaps. The FO will then complete the 'landing checklist'. 13. Whenclearedforlanding,callCLEARED. 14. AtminimumscallLANDINGor"CONTINUE"orGOING AROUND.

Landing (Using VNAV)

For a LOC, LOC-BC, SDF or LDA Approach: On intercept heading to final, verify the localizer is tuned and identified and that the LOC point is shown. 6. Select LNAV or arm VOR/LOC mode. 7. Using LNAV or HDG SEL to intercept the final approach course. 8. Verify LNAV engaged or that VOR/LOC is captured. 9. Approximately 2 NM before the Final Approach Fix (FAF) and after ALT HOLD or VNAV PATH or VNAV ALT is annunciated: Verify the autopilot is engaged, set DA(H) or MDA(H) on the MCP, select or verify speed intervention, select or verify VNAV. 10. Note: YOU MUST USE THE CAPTAIN'S AUDIO CONTROL PANEL!!!!!!! NOT THE OVERHEAD OR FO'S AUDIO CONTROL PANEL.

OTHER OPTION: Use the FLT Interphone instead on the CAPTAIN'S PANEL AUDIO CONTROL PANEL. This is simpler, but it's less common in the real-world. Press in the FLT Mic Selector switch as shown below. The Service Interphone switch does "not" need to be on.

If External Power/Air has been selected as the power source for Pre-Flight, FS2Crew will automatically connect External Power and Air after you start the Pre Flight Events sequence. Note: You can also connect External Power and air by using the FS Video Marshaller program. Note: If want to use the APU for engine start, you will need to manually start the APU prior to Engine start and turn on the APU Bleed before commencing the enginestartsequence.YouwillalsoneedtoconfirmontheFS2CrewConfigPanelthattheGroundPower/AiroptionhasautomaticallyupdatedtoAPU(theAPU bleed switch is the trigger for this to occur. Time remaining to engine start must also be less than 25 minutes). If it remains on EXT, the FS2Crew FO will think yourestillusingExternalPower/Airandperformhisactionsaccordingly. Note: When using External Power/Air for engine start, you start the left engine (Engine #1) first. Note: Do not try to start the engines using the Air Conditioning Cart (AC). You can only use the Air Start Cart (AS) for engine start! Note: For departure, select your power source on the FS2Crew Config Panel "before" pressing RUN PF. Note: When using External Power/Air for start with Pushback required, you have two options:

Option #1: Start Both Engines at the DEPARTURE GATE Prior to Pushback: 1. Ensure parking brake is on. 2. InthePB REQboxselectthe<-- option as shown in the figure below. 3. The <-- indicates that you will start both engines prior to pushback. 4. Ensure the Service Interphone switch on the Aft Overhead is selected to 'On'. 5. Ensure the SVC button on the audio control panel is selected to on as shown above. (Note, you also simply press in the FLT mic button instead). 6. After you've completed the 'Before Start Checklist' and with the mode in: "S.CREW / ENG START",speak:WE ARE READY FOR AN EXTERNAL AIR ENGINE START. 7. InstructtheFOtostartnumber#1.Speak:START ENGINE ONE. 8. After starting engine #1 (the left engine), manually connect the left engine generator to the bus and switch the Ground Power Switch ontheoverheadtooff. 9. Next,instructthegroundcrewtodisconnectexternalairandtheGPU.Speak:YOU CAN DISCONNECT THE EXTERNAL AIR AND GPU NOW. 10. Be sure to do Step 9 ONLY AFTER you have manually connected Engine Generator 1 to the bus or you will lose power! 11. The ground crew will clear you to Start #2 when he informs you that the external air and power have been removed. 12. Set the parking brake if it's not already set, otherwise the aircraft may start to taxi when you advance the left throttle as per Step 9. 13. TostartEngine#2,advancedtheleftthrottleuntilbleedductpressureindicatesabout30PSI,thenspeak:START ENGINE TWO CROSS BLEED START. 14. Next,afterbothengineshavestarted,callforpushback.Speak:WE ARE READY FOR PUSHBACK. 15. Complete a normal pushback sequence.

Option #2: Start Left Engine at DEPARTURE GATE and Right Engine at end of Pushback:

1. Ensure parking brake is on. 2. InthePB REQboxselectthe--> option as shown in the figure below. 3. The --> indicates that you will start the left engine prior to pushback and the right engine at the end of the pushback. 4. Ensure the Service Interphone switch on the Aft Overhead is selected to 'On'. 5. Ensure the SVC button on the audio control panel is selected to on as shown above. (Note, you also simply press in the FLT mic button instead). 6. After you've completed the 'Before Start Checklist' and with the mode in: "S.CREW / ENG START",speak:WE ARE READY FOR AN EXTERNAL AIR ENGINE START. 7. InstructtheFOtostartnumber#1.Speak:START ENGINE ONE. 8. After starting engine #1 (the left engine), manually connect the left engine generator to the bus and switch the Ground Power Switch ontheoverheadtooff. 9. Next,instructthegroundcrewtodisconnectexternalairandtheGPU.Speak:YOU CAN DISCONNECT THE EXTERNAL AIR AND GPU NOW. 10. Be sure to do Step 9 ONLY AFTER you have manually connected Engine Generator 1 to the bus or you will lose power! 11. Wait for the ground crew to tell you that the external power and air have been removed. 12. Next,callforpushback.Speak:WE ARE READY FOR PUSHBACK. 13. Start Engine 2 when cleared by the ground crew. The ground crew will clear you to start Engine 2 near the end of the pushback sequence. 14. TostartEngine#2,advancedtheleftthrottleuntilbleedductpressureindicatesabout30PSI,thenspeak:START ENGINE TWO.

Option #3: Using the GPU for power at the DEPARTURE GATE and the APU for air: You have the option of using the GPU to provide power and the APU to provide air conditioning. To do that, please do the following:

1. Configure the Captain's Audio Control Panel so you can talk to the ground crew. 2. At some point prior to calling for the BEFORE START PROCEDURE, manually put the APU on the busses so the APU is powering the aircraft. If you don't do that, the aircraft will lose power when the ground crew disconnects the GPU! 3. Next,speak:COCKPIT TO GROUND.Theengineerwillreply. 4. Next,speak:PLEASE DISCONNECT EXTERNAL POWER.

Using the GPU and External Air at the ARRIVAL Gate: Many airports do not want you use to the APU. In those cases, you need to connect the GPU at the arrival gate. To do that, please do the following:

1. Prior to landing, select EXT in the PWR/AIR SRC box as shown in the figure below, and choose the air source to be used: Air Start Cart (AS) or Air Conditioning (AC). 2. During his after landing flow, the FO will NOT turn on the APU. 3. When you arrive at the gate, set the parking brake and shutdown only Engine #2 (the right engine). 4. Ensure the Service Interphone switch on the Aft Overhead is selected to 'On'. 5. Ensure the SVC button on the audio control panel is selected to on as shown above. (Note, you also simply press in the FLT mic button instead). 6. Nextspeak:COCKPIT TO GROUND.Theengineerwillreply. 7. Nextspeak:PLEASE CONNECT THE GPU AND EXTERNAL AIR NOW. 8. The engineer will then connect the GPU and External Air. 9. The FO should turn on the Ground Power switch. 10. The engineer will then clear you to shut down Engine #1 (the left engine). 11. Important: So you don't suddenly find yourself without power, visually confirm that the GPU is in fact connected to the aircraft and that it is powering the aircraft before shutting down engine #1! 12. After both engines have been shutdown, the FO will commence his shutdown flow.

Using the GPU and APU at the ARRIVAL Gate: You have the option of using the GPU to provide power and the APU to provide air conditioning. To do that, please do the following:

Nextspeak:PLEASE CONNECT THE GPU NOW. 8. The engineer will then connect the GPU approximately 30 seconds later, and clear you to shutdown Engine #1 (the left engine). 9. The FO should turn on the Ground Power switch to connect the GPU to busses. 10. Important: So you don't suddenly find yourself without power, visually confirm that the GPU is in fact connected to the aircraft and that it is powering the aircraft before shutting down engine #1! 11. After both engines have been shutdown, the FO will commence his shutdown flow.

Notes: You should radio the de-icing coordinator at least 15 minutes prior to engine start to coordinate de-icing. IMPORTANT (REQUIRED COMM RADIO FREQ): To communicate with the de-icing crew on the radio, you must set COMM RADIO 1 or COMM RADIO 2 to 121.65.

To initiate the conversation with the de-icing crew, using the following trigger phrase, which must be spoken separately and clearly from any other phrases so the speech recognition system can easily detect the phrase.. REQUESTING DE-ICING. Example: "De-Ice Coordinator, it's American Flight 24... requesting de-icing."

You will then tell the De-Ice Coordinator what your requirements are for de-icing and your estimated departure time in 'Zulu' time. ThetriggerspeechphrasetoclosetheconversationisZULU TIME. Just prior to de-icing and if you want to de-ice at the gate prior to engine start, command the FO to prepare for de-icing by speaking: PREPARE FOR DE-ICE. Notethatifyouaredeicingataremotepad,youwouldspeakPREPARE FOR DE-ICEjustpriortothestartofdeicingprocedures. The FO will then perform his de-ice prep flow: 1. APU Bleed Off. 2. Engine Bleeds Off. As Captain, you are responsible for: 1. Setting the stab trim full nose down. 2. Ensuring the flaps are up. Ask the FO to raise the flaps. Use the speech command: "FLAPS UP". 3. Ensuring idle thrust. The FO will leave the APU running if it is already on. If you wish to have the APU off during de-icing, you must manually shut-it down, however, ensure the groundpowerisconnectedoryouwilllosepower.Ifyoureataremotepad,leavetheenginesrunning.MakesureWingAntiIceis'off'. AftertheFOhascompletedhisdeicingflow,speak:DE-ICE COORDINATOR WE ARE READY FOR DE-ICINGtotelltheDeIcecoordinatorthatyourereadyto start the de-icing. The de-icing team will then de-ice the aircraft. This procedure takes approximately 3 minutes.

When de-icing is complete, the De-Ice Coordinator will radio you, and provide you with his employee number, the start and end time, etc. SpeakTHANK YOU FOR YOUR HELPtodisconnecttheDeIceCoordinatorthatphraseisalsothetriggerfortheFOtoconfiguretheaircraftafterthede icing. Note that the FO will wait one before before turning the bleeds back on to prevent de-icing fumes from being ingested into the aircraft. Please be patient during this period. As Captain, you need to: 1. Reset the Stabilizer trim to the takeoff setting. 2. Move the control column full forward/aft three times to drain any residual fluid from the elevator balance bays.

ToinitiateaRejectedTakeoff,speak:ABORT ABORT. Perform the following: 1. Close the thrust levers. 2. Disengage the autothrottle. 3. Apply maximum braking or verify operation of the RTO system if it was selected. 4. Raise the speedbrake lever. 5. Apply maximum reverse thrust consistent with the conditions.

FS2Crew will change to ROLL-OUT mode. When you exit the runway, you have two options: 1.Ifyouarereturningtothegate,speak:OKAY TO CLEAN UP. The FO will then perform his normal After Landing flow and you can return the gate as per a normal after landing/arrival sequence. 1. Unless otherwise authorized, start the APU before the ETOPS segment. The APU must be on for the entire ETOPS segment. You can use the speech command: "START THE APU". 2. During the last hour of cruise, speak: "FUEL CROSSFEED VALVE CHECK". The FO will then perform the fuel cross feed valve check procedure.

ETOPS General Notes: HF Preflight Check

A reception-only check of the HF radios should be accomplished prior to departure. This is most easily accomplished by selecting and listening to WWV for a GMT transmission signal on frequencies of 5000, 10000, or 15000. Note: If the tuning tone plus HF receptions from other aircraft or WWV broadcasts are audible, the flight may proceed, provided enroute HF radio and SELCAL checks are successful prior to transoceanic entry. WARNING: Do not perform a HF transmissions check if refueling is in progress on your aircraft or any other aircraft in close proximity.

FMC RESERVES Fuel and Wind Entries For all flights, both international and domestic, the RESERVES (4L) fuel entry on the PERF INIT page should include the alternate fuel (ALTN), and reserve fuel (RESV 10PCT + RSV 30MIN) from the flight plan. CONT- Contingency, ETOPS Add, and Extra Fuel are not included to avoid an erroneous INSUFFICIENT FUEL message. FMC fuel predictions which include fuel over destination on the Progress Page, hold fuel remaining, and the FMC message INSUFFICIENT FUEL are reliable only if: Forecastwindshavebeenuplinkedormanuallyloadedfortheentireroute. ForecastwindshavebeenloadedforthedescentontheDESCENTFORECASTpage. Theflightplanspeed/MachnumberhasbeenselectedontheCRZpage.

Display CEEP and CEXP The C-EEP and the C-EXP should be displayed by placing the ICAO airport identifier for each of these adequate airports on a FIX page with /427 (one hour, single engine still air distance) entered on line 2L. First enter the C-EEP reference airport and then, when past the C-EEP, change the reference to the airport for the C-EXP. The intersection of these green arcs and the magenta active course line reflect the C-EEP and then the C-EXP. This will normally be within a few miles of the latitude / longitude defining the C-EEP / C-EXP on the flight plan. It is important to note that the airports defining these points may not be the designated suitable ETOPS alternate airports.

HF Radio Check The HF radios and HF-SELCAL must be checked prior to the loss of VHF communications. The appropriate frequencies will be assigned enroute or can be found on the Jeppesen Enroute Chart Transoceanic communications are conducted primarily by HF radio. The following checks will ensure that the HF radios are functioning properly. Prior to loss of VHF communications: SelecttheappropriateHFfrequencyfromJeppesenchartsorasassignedby ATC on both radios. Keymicrophoneandlistenforthetone. ContactappropriateagencyforHFandSELCALcheck. BothSELCALscanbecheckedsimultaneouslybysettingthesame frequency in both HF radios. If both SELCAL units are inoperative, a constant listening watch will be maintained on the primary HF frequency.

Enroute VHF On flights, which are operating in areas outside of VHF contact with ATC, the VHF communications radios will normally be set as follows: LEFT VHF 121.5 Guard RIGHT VHF 123.45 or appropriate Air-to-Air common Current frequencies may be found on the Jeppesen charts for the intended area of operation.

Transponder Settings Unless otherwise directed by ATC, or in cases of emergency or radio failure, transponder codes will be set as follows: ATLANTIC: Code 2000 (last assigned code will be maintained while in domestic airspace). A rule of thumb is to add 30 minutes to the ATA of the first waypoint on the NAT Track. This would be the earliest time to change the code to 2000. MIDPAC:Code2000afterClearedtoenroutefrequencybyATC. GUAM: Code 2100 when approaching within 250 NM of the airport.

Circuits
FS2CrewforthePMDG737NGXmodelsCircuits/TouchandGos. ToputFS2Crewintocircuitsmode,selectCIRCUIT TRAININGfortheApproachType.Youwouldusethismodeifyouwishtomakepracticecircuits.

Circuits are modeled on the standard Boeing circuits profile.

Notes: 1. Automation is generally not used during circuit training. 2. Circuits are usually flown with the Flaps at 5. 3. On touchdown, the FO will automatically raise the Flaps to 15, and you would perform a Flaps 15 takeoff. 4. VREF must be entered in the FMC.

One way of Doing a Circuit: Switch off the FD and autothrottles for take off. Use flap 5 for convenience. Aim for climb speed 180 knots and leave flap at 5. At 1000 agl start turn at 30 degrees angle of bank - maintaining bank angle until arriving at downwind hdg and hauling back throttles to maintain 180 knots while levelling at 1500 ft agl. Set Vref for landing flap from previously set V1 and VR.

Up to you whether you set MCP cursor at 180 knots or set Vref+5 now. You are not using autothrottle so the MCP speed is purely a reminder figure rather than an A/T setting. Ensure A/T is switched off and not just ARM (see FCTM cautionary paragraphs on autothrottle use in ARM mode - Boeing do not recommend it)

Downwind keep eyes on runway and visual tracking. Don't stare at MAP. Abeam landing threshold hit stopwatch, select gear down, flap 15, arm the speed brake if full stop landing and allow speed to reduce toward 150 knots and call for landing checklist to flaps.

45 seconds after passing end of runway, turn base 25-30 degrees angle of bank and square off the circuit because of slower speed of 150 knots. Avoid flying a 5 degree bank angle turn as this is sloppy flying. If an ILS is available ensure the standby ADI ILS is selected because it gives you earlier glide slope indication than primary ADI/HSI glide slope. Very useful if the simulator is limited in side view.

Flap as required on base and final. Cross the fence at Vref if no wind and use reverse and manual braking. This gives you the practice at modulating the brakes as a skill rather than always carrying out autobrake use which can lead to loss of braking technique skills.

For touch and go don't arm the speed brake and no reverse. On touch-down open up to 50-60% spool-up N1, select flap 15 at same time set stab trim at 5 units. When ready, set take off thrust and rotate at Vref which had already been set. Around 1000 ft agl select flap 5 and aim for 180 knots and repeat the

circuit. Note at no stage was FD, AP or AT used. Miminum talk in the cockpit.

To initiate a go around, press the TOGA button and make the following voice commands: GOINGAROUND FLAPS 15 Pitch the nose up to approximately 15 degrees. TheFOwillcallPOSITIVERATE. After the FO has called "Positive Rate" make the following commands: GEAR UP 400 feet above the runway: SELECT HEADING SELECTorSELECT LNAV At acceleration height, call "FLAPS ___" according to the flap retraction schedule. After flap retraction to the planned flap setting, select LVL CHG. VNAV may be selected if the flaps are up. Verify that climb thrust is set. CallfortheAFTER TAKEOFF CHECKLISTaftertheaircraftisinacleanconfiguration. Continuetothealternateairportorshoottheapproachagain.Ifshootingtheapproachagain,cycletheModetoLANDINGbeforecallingforFlapExtensions, Landing Gear and commencing the 'Landing Checklist'.

Notes: 1. FortheGOAROUNDcalltotakeeffectinthesimulation,theFS2Crew Display Mode on the Main Panel must display: 'LANDING'.

Select versions of FS2Crew include, as an added bonus, a special version of FS Video Marshaller. Using the FS Video Marshaller is an optional enhancement for the simulation. It is not a requirement for the correct running of FS2Crew. VERY IMPORTANT: YOU MUST RUN IN 'WINDOWED' MODE, NOT 'FULL SCREEN' MODE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO A PLAY A FS VIDEO MARSHALLER VIDEO OR YOU WILL GET A CRASH. THIS IS A RESULT OF AN FSX IMPOSED LIMITATION. PRESS 'ALT - ENTER' ON YOUR KEYBOARD TO CYCLE VIDEO MODES! Step 1: To setup FS Video Marshaller, uncheck "PAUSE ON TASK SWITCH' found in the FSX's 'SETTINGS - GENERAL' menu as shown below:

LEFT SCREW: Open the video panel so it can be dragged to a new position. Left click again to close. CHOCKS IN: Wheel chocks in. CHOCKS OUT: Wheel chocks out. ENG 1: Start Engine 1. ENG 2: Start Engine 2. GPU CON: Connect Ground Power Unit (GPU). External PWR and AIR will connect to the 737. GPU DISC: Disconnect Ground Power Unit (GPU). External PWR and AIR will disconnect from the 737. WAVE OFF: Wave off the ground crew when ready to taxi. LIGHT: Toggles night lighting on/off. RIGHT SCREW: Closes the Video Marshaller Panel. Notes: To move the FS Video Marshaller video window to a different monitor or reposition it on the screen: 1. Open the Video Marshaller panel. 2. Left click the left screen on the panel. 3. The video player window will pop-up.

The following are a list of hints to help improve your FS2Crew experience with the PMDG NGX while using Voice Control: 1. Use 'Hard Mute' frequently, especially during long stretches of time when you do not need to make any speech commands, such as during taxi, cruise or descent. M+ will flash on the FS2Crew Main Panel when Hard Mute is active. 2. For the "Minimums" call during approach, FS2Crew uses the value selected in the Briefing Page, not what's set via the EFIS panel. 3. For the best voice results, speak clearly and distinctly. 4. Generally, you should not need to re-adjust the pre-selected Pushback distance listed on the Configuration Panel. The FSX pushback tug turns the aircraft very slowly, resulting in a very wide turn. So if you select a high number, you will likely be pushed back much too far. 5. The voice command to auto trigger the mode change between "APPROACH" and "LANDING" is "SET". Many people also forget to make this call. For example: "2992 Set". Make sure 'SET' is spoken clearly and distinctly. 6. At the arrival gate, you will hear a 'ding' sound and the FA call light on the FS2Crew Main Panel will illuminate briefly. The FA is calling you. Speak "YES" to answer the FA.
