Leeds Library and Information Service

EUROPE
DIRECT
LEEDS
Europe Direct Leeds is based in the
Information Centre in Leeds Central Library
and acts as an interface between citizens
and the European Union at local level. It
provides an information service and also
holds, and participates in, events and
activities to raise the profile of the EU and its
aims and institutions. Europe Directs are
funded by the European Commission.
There is a network of 16 Europe Direct
information relays in the UK, Europe Direct
Leeds is currently the only one in the
Yorkshire and the Humber region. There is
also a wider network of 400 across Europe
that has been established for some time.

Europe Direct aims:


• To enable local citizens to obtain
information, assistance and answers to
questions about the European Union’s
institutions, legislation, policies,
programme and funding
opportunities.
• To actively promote local and regional
debate about the European Union
and its policies.
