The Committee for Members in Industry (CMII) is a Non- Standing Committee of ICAI out of total 33 Non- Standing Committees of ICAI. CMII is working relentlessly for the benefits of the Members in Industry in particular and Members of the Institute as whole in general from 1983. Out of the current strength of the Members, 57% members are in Industry and they have been occupying prominent positions such as CMDs, CEOs of PSUs and MNCs, both in India and abroad. CMII has been acting as vigorous platform between Chartered Accountants in Industry and the Institute and is putting extensive and intensive efforts to enhance the brand image of Indian CAs as most competent accounting, auditing and management professionals across the globe. OBJECTIVES

MISSION To encourage and enhance close links between the Institute and the Chartered Accountants working in industries in various capacities so as to provide for them, a base of reference in terms of knowledge, expertise, skills and assistance in individual career growth through the development of extensive and intensive relationship with organisations, agencies of the Governments, Departments and Ministries of the Central and State Governments in such manner as to provide the maximum possible exposures to the world of trade, commerce, industry and Governance, while simultaneously pursuing the goal of providing the maximum of employment opportunities.

To organise campus interviews for newly qualified Chartered Accountants seeking employment through the ? Institute. To explore and develop new avenues of employment for Members in Industry. ? To provide sector specific assistance in improvement of skills of Members in Industry. ? To consider the problems and issues pertaining to the career planning, ethics and other related matters of the ? Members in Industry. To popularise the Placement Portal of the Institute. ? To bring out background materials/publications relevant for Members in Industry. ? To organise programmes on the topics relevant to the Members in Industry. ? To develop a sector-wise data bank of the Members in Industry and continue to develop their involvement in the ? mainstream of the Institute. To encourage and recognise the Corporate entrepreneurs of our profession i.e., Corporate MDs, Chairmen, ? Presidents, etc. in Industry. To consider the ways and means to enhance the participation of the Members in Industry in the activities of the ? Institute. 3

1. Outreach Programmes

The Committee for Members in Industry is organising Outreach Programme in the Corporates having more than 25 Chartered Accountants. ICAI comes to campus of Corporates having more than 25 Chartered Accountants and does half day or full day programme free for members. The Outreach programme has been conceived with the idea of bringing the Members in Industry closer to ICAI.

The Primary objective of setting up such a guild is to develop a platform where highly intellectual & talented pool of people who are leaders, Visionary and Decision Maker from various organizations can share their views. We request the Members of the Institute who are CEOs of the organization to share 3-4 pages write up on yourself including your qualification, experiences, How would you trace your journey, key challenges, key strategies in taking your organization to new heights etc. We shall publish the short listed write up of CEOs in the publications of CMII. 5. CA CFOs Guild (http://www.cmii.icai.org/cfo_login_frm.asp?memtype=CFO) The Committee for Members in Industry has set up CFOs Guild. This guild is for our members who are occupying high positions (CFO/Treasury Head/Head of Analyst, GM or above) in Industry. The Primary objective of setting up such a guild is to develop a platform where highly intellectual & talented pool of people from various organizations can discuss various issues. They can plan, formulate and strategize policies for improving the image of the Chartered Accountants in the eyes of the Industry. In this regard ,We would also like to inform you that an edit facility with some additional features have been provided in CFO Guild. CA Corporate Accountants Guild This Guild shall be for the Members in Industry who are not covered in above two Guilds. The Primary objective of setting up such a guild is to develop and maintain an industry wise database of the members of our Institute serving in industries. Further, the guild shall act as a forum where various issues concerning the profession in general and for Members in Industry in particular can be discussed. Industry specific seminars/ Conferences/ Round Table meetings can also be organized to discuss the matters pertaining to the industry and make them the Brand Ambassadors of the profession. The Members shall also be apprised of the various happenings of the Institute and updates in respective fields from time to time. Being the Brand Ambassadors of the profession as the members in Industry, we seek to involve and gather your support for the various ensuing programmes and the initiatives of the Committee for Members in Industry (CMII) . CPE Study Circles for Members in Industry ICAI has notified the norms for CPE Study Circles, which caters exclusively for the members in Industry. These CPE Study Circles are being contemplated to help Members who are in Industry in industry to achieve the objectives of maintaining their core competencies and exchange professional knowledge amongst the members apart from fostering and developing fellowship. We request the members serving in industry to come forward to form CPE study circle in their organization/locality.

Orientation Programme The Committee for Members in Industry organizes Campus Placement Programme for newly qualified Chartered Accountants, twice a year. Before the placement programme, the Committee organizes Orientation Programme for the participants with a view to brush up their soft/technical skills to face the interview process. The topics of the Orientation Programme are How to Become CFO to CEO, Right Approach to Placement, Life V/s. Career, Campus to Corporate, Job opportunities and career in specific industry, What Corporates expects from Chartered Accountants, Credit Rating, Expectations of Corporate, How to be a Successful Entrepreneur, Journey from CA to being CEO and CEO to Entrepreneur of a company, How to get job, how to be successful & professional avenues for CAs, Right Approach to Placement and Tips to succeed in Group discussion, Creative mind - the fuel of excellence, Need for keeping yourself updated, How to face the Interview Board, Professional Ethics- For the CA , Steps for better and brighter future, Mock Interview & Group Discussion. ,What an Employer (a mid sized corporate) looks for in a CA, Basics of GD and Tips for GDPI, Final tips for P.I., Soft Skills required by Chartered Accountants. The next round of Orientation Programme, the Committee is organising at 18 centres during January- February 2013 all over the country. Constitution of State Task Forces for Members in Industry The Committee intend to set up State Task Forces for Members in Industry to achieve the Mission and Objectives of the Committee. Terms of Reference for State task forces: i) To hold Placement Seminars. ii) To hold Members in Industry Liaison Meeting with various Industries. iii) To Co-ordinate with various Branches regarding holding of Committee for Members in Industry Programmes. iv) To report back to the Committee of special problems of Members in Industry of different state. v) To hold of Programmes for Members in Industry vi) To Constitute and run industry specific study groups vii) To Conduct Counselling sessions to members who switch over from industry to practice and vice-versa. viii) To discuss the various Exposure Drafts issued by the Institute ix) To have a dialogue with Chambers of Committee, Trade Associations and discuss holding of Job Fair etc. 1. 2. 3. Maximum number of members in these Task Forces should be twenty only. Each State Task Force might constitute and run a maximum of two industry specific study groups (as given in 14 (vi) above) whose strength should not exceed ten. Industry specific study groups might focus on the following aspects: a. Business Knowledge covering National and International outlook, production, marketing, finance, HRD, General Management, b. Accounting and Auditing issues, c. Direct and Indirect taxes etc., Heads of Branch of the Institute to coordinate the conduct of meetings and submission of Reports to the CMII No DA/TA would be permissible to the members of these Task Forces
