TERMINAL EQUIPMENT AND SPACE CHECKLIST FOR UNDERFLOOR APPLICATION Design Review and Startup Checklist
Equipment type: Floor diffusers, perimeter heat, VAV, and VAV with heating coil terminals. Equipment designation: FSD, FTR, VAV, and VAVHC. Bar code designation: Refer to end devices. Area served: Second-floor office space. Equipment location: Within underfloor space. return air cfm plus exhaust air cfm. Calculate total outdoor air equals exhaust air plus 5% (rule of thumb) positive building space pressure cfm.
STARTUP OBSERVATION
ELECTRICAL INSPECTION (FAN-POWERED VAV TERMNAL): YES NO
Electrical completed and disconnect installed per code compliance. Starter and wire sized per contract documents. Motor bumped to verify rotation. Terminations and panel circuit labeled. Voltage and motor amps (per phase) documented.
NOTE:
Refer to the January 2004 Central AHU Checklist and March 2004 issues for the Project Closeout Checklist. In reviewing the design, punchlisting the installation, and assisting in the startup of the installation, the design engineer may do a complete review or a partial spot check of the installation based on his contract requirements.
DESIGN REVIEW
Confirm there is safe access to the equipment and around the equipment. Confirm there is adequate access for maintenance service and equipment removal. Consider a laminated, reduced floor plan with bar code equipment designations for quick and easy location of terminal equipment, and locate drawing on back of door entering the room or other suitable location. Spot check air quantity by dividing the cfm by square feet of area served for cfm/sq ft. Spot check heating capacity based on dividing the Btuh by square feet of area served for Btuh/sq ft. Spot check air conditioning capacity based on dividing the square feet of area served by tons cooling for sq-ft/ton. Confirm design criteria meets the state energy code. Spot check space thermostats for correct dead band between heating and cooling setpoints. Complete an on-site check of design parameters compliance including: Supply air temperature in heating cycle and cooling cycle; Duct static pressure upstream of VAV terminal; Pressure drop across the ATC valve and through the heating coil; Space air temperature (drybulb and wetbulb); Space noise criteria; and Space particle count. Spot check internal heat gains: Inventory number of light fixtures and wattage; Inventory number of chairs for occupancy count; and Inventory other heat gain (i.e., equipment). Calculate floor pressure balance with supply air cfm equals return air cfm plus exhaust air cfm plus 5% (rule of thumb) positive building pressure cfm. Calculate positive space pressure balance with supply air cfm equals return air cfm plus exhaust air cfm plus 15% (rule of thumb) positive space pressure. Calculate negative space pressure balance with supply air cfm plus 15% (rule of thumb) negative space pressure cfm equals
