About the Programme

Medical biotechnology is an emerging biological sciences discipline that promises major technological advancement to the growth of the Malaysian healthcare industry. Our graduates will receive two degree certicates, one from Sunway University and another from Lancaster University, UK (ranked 2nd in the UK and 9th worldwide in the 100 best universities under 50 years, according to The Times Higher Education 2012 Rankings).

Academic Requirements
STPM GCE A Level Australian Matriculation Canadian Matriculation MUFY UEC IB : : : : : : Average B- (CGPA 2.67 minimum 2 principals) BC/CDD (Minimum 14 points) ATAR 65 70% 240 Maximum 22 points (Grade B in 5 subjects excluding Chinese & non-academic subjects) : Minimum 26 based on 6 subjects

Offers may also be awarded on a case-by-case basis to students with other qualications.

Mathematics & Science Requirements

SPM / O-Level equivalent 5 credits or equivalent, 3 of which in: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English. Preferred subjects at Pre-University or equivalent At least CGPA 2.5 in 2 science subjects from Biology or Physics and Chemistry.

English Language Requirements

English Language Assistance

Sunway University welcomes students who are industrious and envision becoming professional scientists. For students who have met the academic requirements but may still encounter problems with English, special assistance can be arranged through the universitys Centre for English Language Studies.

Scientic researcher in medical/biotechnological areas such as pharmaceutical, industrial, agricultural and medical R&D biotechnology rms, and medical research centres and universities.

Medical & Diagnostic Research Clinical Research

Laboratory technologist in government and private hospitals. Clinical researcher in the pharmaceutical industry involved in the development, administration and participation in clinical trials.

Regulatory Affairs

Medical biotechnologist with good knowledge and understanding of governmental regulations and laws who is involved in the process of gaining approval for medical products to be marketed.

Academia

Science educator at every level from secondary schools to institutions of higher learning, and involvement in outreach programmes in educating the public.

Marketing & Sales

Product specialist or technical support personnel in the promotion of sales and provision of technical support for products by medical biotechnology companies.
