CHAIRPERSON DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP!

BALL STATE UNIVERISITY MUNCIE, INDIANA The Department of Educational Leadership at Ball State University seeks applications at the Associate or Full Professor level for Department Chair to begin in the 2014-2015 academic year. The Department is a leader in facilitating graduate programs (both online and hybrid) and has a strong tradition of excellence and innovation in leader preparation; across Indiana we have extensive reach with a large representation of principals and superintendents holding a degree from our department. Department faculty are highly committed, energetic, and collaborative practitioner-scholars. The Department chairperson position is available as of July 1, 2014. Responsibilities: assisting with departmental program development, accreditation, and faculty and student mentoring; overseeing departmental budgets, personnel, and department operations; providing leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and maintenance of academic programs; continuing research agenda and production of refereed publications; providing professional service to the program, including chairing and serving on doctoral committees; teaching master's through doctoral level courses in educational leadership. We anticipate that a successful candidate would minimally have: a doctorate in education administration, leadership, policy or related fields; experience in higher education settings; excellent record of teaching, research and service commensurate with associate professor level, including chairing dissertations and student advising; evidence of effective leadership and communication skills; evidence of high-level collaboration skills; and a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Preferred qualifications: previously tenured; record of grant writing and directing; served as department chair or equivalent leadership role; proficiency with budgets, resource management, and new technologies; knowledgeable about leadership preparation; skilled at hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff; experience with strategic planning skills; K-12 teaching/leadership experience.
