Architecture
What contexts could this type of photography be used in? It can be used in calendars, on websites, in books, on greeting cards, in leaflets and galleries.
Who are your influences for this project? My influences for this project are Simon Kennedy and Roger enton. I think Simon Kennedy!s work is the best architecture work I!"e e"er seen. It is such good #uality and is so uni#ue. All of his $hotographs are "ery sharp and ha"e a high contrast. %hey also usually ha"e lines guiding you around the Image to make sure you ha"e seen the whole photograph in detail. Roger enton is a past architecture artist who died in &'(). I think his work is of a "ery good standard seen as they!re "ery old and ob"iously it was harder to take good photographs back then because you could not see the image you had produced straight away.
2ithin the project I will be disco"ering the form of the building, which includes the shape of it, patterns, structure, lines, geometric shapes3 Straight lines3 4ur"y lines3 And also the te5ture of the building. Asymmetrical shapes or symmetrical shapes
What techniques will you use? %he techni#ues I will use are different angled shots, sometimes for making the photograph look abstract, for e5ample using high angle shots on windy stairs. I will also use a low shot to get a shot of a building from a low point of "iew, this is used a lot in architecture work I!"e seen. I will also use a "ariety of long, mid, close and e5treme close up shots. %his is so you get different si6es of a building and also to look into detail. I will use all the camera settings on the S1R to make the images all look different so I ha"e a "ariety to choose from when I select my best $hotographs. %he settings I will use are white balance7 to see which colour I like my image to be in. I will use white balance for either making the photograph not look real or either making it look better. I will use aperture to see what the photographs look like on a low aperture, but will usually use the high aperture to make the whole image sharp and in focus. Shutter speed I will not really change that much, because I usually use that for if I want to free6e something or make something looks blurry and out of focus, which I won!t want to be doing for architecture photography. IS8 I will be e5perimenting with, because I would like to see what each photograph looks like on a different IS8 setting. 2hilst doing all this I will use a tripod to make the images the sharpest they can get, without distorting them through camera shake. After taking all of my photographs I will be doing some manipulating to some of them, whilst still keeping the originals. Manipulating photographs is good if you want something to become abstract. I also like changing the colour adjustments on $hotoshop because this can change a whole meaning of a photograph. 8n most of the photographs I will use post production just to correct some of the e5posure and sharpness of some $hotographs. I will also use dodging and burning to change some of the highlights and shadows.
