Introduction
The Relay Division of the VMCL is into design and manufacturing of Numerical and Auxiliary relay. We have developed numerical, three-phase over current and earth fault relay for use in distribution systems, and also for use as back-up protection for generators, transformers, transmission lines etc. The Relay Division has also developed a complete range of hinged armature type electro-mechanical relays for auxiliary, tripping and supervision functions. These relays are simple and reliable in construction, and are housed in compact panel mounting cases.

Description
Type Test
The relay has been tested successfully at Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) Bangalore, as per the rquirements of IEC 60255, for electrical performance. The relay has also been tested successfully at Electronic Test and Development Centre (ETDC), Chennai and Bangalore, for Disturbance Withstand, Mechanical Environment and Atmospheric Environment, as per the requirements of relevant IEC and other international specications.

Description
The relay can be supplied with self reset contacts (type V80RS) or hand reset contacts (type V80RH). The contacts are made of silver / cadmium oxide alloy and are designed to have superior contact rating with minimum wear and tear. Each element can be provided with upto 6 pairs of contacts in suitable combinations of Make and Break. When it is necessary to break heavy or highly inductive DC loads, heavy duty magnetic blow-out type contacts can be provided. Auxiliary relays can be supplied with delay on pickup or drop-off, on specic request.A mechanically operated ag (operation indicator), hand reset type, is provided wherever required. The relay is available in single element (type V80RS1 or V80RH1), two element (type V80RS2 or V80RH2) and three element (type V80RS3 or V80RH3) versions. The elements are mounted in compact, non-drawout / plug -in type cases, suitable for flush or projection mounting on panels.

Description
The relay is available in two versions viz. Type V95RS2 having two elements and Type V95RS3 having three elements. Type V95RS2 is suitable for post closing supervision of CB trip circuit and for supervision of trip relay operating coil. Type V95RS3 is suitable for both pre and post closing supervision of CB trip circuit. The essential requirement of a Trip Circuit Supervision relay is that it should have a maximum pick-up current which will not be sufcient to energise either the CB trip coil or the tripping relay coil, and at the same time will be able to supervise the healthiness of the entire trip circuit comprising DC supply, the tripping cable, CB auxiliary contacts and the CB trip coil, or the tripping relay coil and the DC supply to which it is connected. The three operating elements in the Trip Circuit Supervision relay are designated as A, B and C. Type V95RS2 relay comprises elements A and C whereas type V95RS3 relay comprises all the three elements A, B and C. The elements A and B are designed to have a maximum pick-up current of less than 10milliamps.The element C is a standard auxiliary relay which is energised by the normally open contacts of elements A and B, and provides the output contacts for alarm, nterlock etc. It is provided with a hand reset, reverse ag (operation indicator).

Description
The relay is designed to have a minimum operating current in excess of 0.025A, so that it can be used on DC supplies tted with a negative potential biasing device. The contacts are made of silver /cadmium oxide alloy and are designed to have superior contact rating with minimum wear and tear. Each element is provided with 4 pairs of contacts in suitable combination of Make and Break, and all the contacts are brought out to electrically separate terminals. A mechanically operated ag (operation indicator), hand reset type, is provided as standard. The relay is available in single element (type V86RH1) and two element (type V86RH2) versions. The elements are mounted in compact ,non- drawout / plugin type cases, suitable for ush or projection mounting on panels.

11 kV Metal Clad Switch Gear with Vaccum Circuit Breaker
Construction
The enclosure is made of 3mm sheet steel fabricated by modern machines. It houses the air insulated bus bars and is segregated to many functional compartments It houses the draw out truck. The design is made to meet any customer requirements.
Circuit Breaker
This consists of a motor operated spring charging mechanism with separate VIs operated by a common drive shaft. It is very compact and trustworthy design. It has very high mechanical as well as electrical operating strengths.
Spring Charging Mechanism

The VM07 mechanism is indigenously developed is very robust, dependable and go up to 25000 operations. With spare charge at end of one closing. The internal links are easily accesable during any maintenance. Slow closing is possible with the lever provided.
Chamber
The Busbar, metering, Breaker, CT/PT chambers houses the respective equipments and are segregated by metallic sheets and are earthed.

Application
Battery charger is used to store the electrical energy in secondary cells, and to feed the power to DC electrical circuits.
Description
The rectier is SCR controlled AC/DC rectier with input isolation transformer and with automatic constant voltage and constant current ability. It comes with sign options depending on user requirements have lower THDI (<10%)and higher pf at input (>0.9) as well as to secure redundancy since 12 pulse rectiers are designed with one delta and one star connected transformers, so the unit itself behaves as two redundant rectiers by its nature. Output current, battery current, boost and oat charge voltages are adjustable on the userfriendly control panel. Detailed indications help you to monitor all function from the front panel

Features
Power savings is above 25% in lighting. No load current is very low below 1% of the rated output current. ON/OFF control can be achieved by timer, dusk-dawn control, PLC &Manual mode. When used in manual mode all the control circuit is been bypassed directly, used in the case of emergency. Compact in size, box can be custom designed as per the requirement of the customer. Programmable logic controller can be use for the sequential, ON/OFF for lights Easy to install with existing control unit and cabling. Payback period is 6 to 10 months based on site conditions and usage. Low maintenance, no moving parts, easy to service
