Message...
Dear DSYM, I am glad to know that the DSYM Burari is bringing out the second issue of the Electronic Magazine (Yuvadeepti). I am sure that this magazine will help all of us to enlighten the horizon of our life in the light of Faith. Our life in the society has to transmit the values, life concepts, moral choices that progressively impose on those who do not have the ability to react. We need to create an atmosphere of charity in the daily life and discover that Christian life following Christ is quite unlike what everyone thinks. We must all take our share of responsibility, each one of us according to his/her means, forming ourselves to be good human being, devoting time to our needy brothers and sisters in the society. As Jesus calls us all to follow His path, let us try our level best to make every moment meaningful and respond to the cry of people around us. I appreciate and encourage all of you for taking many steps to bring light to the truth. God bless and guide all of you. Mother Mary intercede for you that you may be enlightened to spread the fragrance of love and truth. With my Good wishes, Bro. Davis Kalliyath

JOY IN CHRIST

Sr. Karuna CHF

1Thes.5:16-17 "Rejoice always, give thanks in all circumstances." One day a nurse asked an elderly woman nearly 70 in an old age home, 'Mother, how can you be happy always like this while other inmates always complain and dissatised?' The old lady smilingly said, I lost my husband 20 years back, I have no children, but I am happy that I have this home, I am able to walk slowly, able to do my own works, My husband was an educated man , good looking, very loving, all these memories keep me joyful, God gives me everything I need and he does many things in my life. Therefore I thank God for all these and keep me joyful.' Being grateful to God, having an attitude of gratitude can make our hearts joyful. A joyful heart keeps a healthy body. In the book of Psalms we can see that every Psalm begins with a praise and thanksgiving to God. Ps.33 says "Rejoice in the Lord, for praise bets the upright." We read in the gospel of St. Luke that Jesus asks to the Samaritan who was cleansed of his leprosy and returned to say thanks to Him, "Where are the other nine who were cleansed of their skin diseases?" The Samaritan's attitude of gratitude lled his

heart a kind of joy. The Samaritan woman rejoices in Christ when she encountered the divine. She leaves everything and follows Him to experience that everlasting joy. To Berthemeus the blind man Jesus asks "What do you want me to do for you? He says 'I want to see.' He heals and his eye sight was restored. The blind man experienced the joy of Christ. If we journey from the rst book of the Holy Bible to the last book we come across with the people who lived in the joy of divine for they encountered Him and they received grace upon grace because of their gratitude towards Him. Mother Mary rejoiced in God and sang the song of praise; the Magnicat. She sings 'My soul magnies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my savior.' This season of joy invites us to rejoice in Christ our savior. The coming of the savior reminds of God's personal love to us. Can we count the blessings bestowed upon us? If not, why do we complain? Leave aside all our worries for He cares for you. Rejoice in him always.

Spiritual Life
On the Surface, Happiness and Joy are similar, they are both uplifting and blissful experiences. Yet there are more differences than similarity. Happiness is a self- focused emotion lied directly to getting what we want. Joy is a spiritual result of our focus on God. It is tied to our salvation and our walk with Christ. Happiness is temporary at ,it is subjective to our circumstances and moods. Joy is eternally based and can be ours even in our deepest valleys. Happiness quickly leaves us when we fail to attain our goals or we become bored with our .Joy is from God and therefore can never be stolen from us. Joy is given through the Holy Spirit the moment we accept Christ as our savior. As Christians our joy can never be completely destroyed, although there are many pitfalls which can signicantly diminish it. Joy is a permanent Gift from God, but it is also a gift for which we must take responsibility for nurturing and protecting on a daily basis. We can always nd joy in our salvation, because our salvation is assured. Paul told the Philippians "In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the rst day until now, being condent of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus"(Philippians 1:4-6). You may have heard the acronym for J-O-Y representing how to gain joy through our priorities Jesus, others, then yourself .But consider this twist. J stand for Jesus, Y stands for you, but O stands for Zero. When absolutely

Shinto K.J Nothing comes between Jesus and you will nd Joy. At the centre of our joy is our relationship with had, anything that stands between us and our savior will corrode our joy. One of the greatest threats to our joy is disobedience, we become a fruitless and joyless Christian .Jesus warned against fruitlessness" No branch can bear fruit itself, it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him .he will bear mush fruit: apart from me you can do nothing"(John 15:5,5) Joy does not mean that we will not experience pain or sadness or frustration when everything seems to go wrong. But unlike happiness we can nd joy in the midst of our suffering .when Christ is at the centre of our lives, when his glory is our goal, when we refuse to be intimated by life's obstacles, and when we live totally for Christ in obedience, we will nd a joy that will carry us through the darkest of valleys. "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

PADHEYAM

Under the guidance of Ft.Peter and Bro.Davis Kalliyath BMTC youth is undertaking Padheyam an activity of distributing food and clothes to the destitute people in near by areas. As its written in Bible "when you help the poor you are lending to the lord and he pays wonderful interest on your loan!" (Prov.19:17) The food and clothes are collected from the families of our parish. We are getting a good support from them. The feeling of feeding destitute people is just cannot be expressed.

Lord Jesus, you always showed great love for the young and the gospels are lled with incidents about the children in general and the centurious servant and the rich young man and jairus daughter. Please power down you're grace to help us in our growing and formative years. Enable us to take advantage of all the good things while avoiding the many pitfall of their age. Grant that we may follow the example of youthful saints in remaining devoted to you. Help us to carry out our Vocation in life for the good of ourselves and for the good of others. Amen.
