OTWAY VIEW ELOISE STEALS THE SPOTLIGHT AT THE 2014 ROYAL MELBOURNE HORSE SHOW
Shetland pony Otway View Eloise, exhibited by Sally and Monique Centrone, has been awarded the prestigious Best of Show Championship at the 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show. Presented by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), a record 4,483 entries were received for Australias largest horse breed show, which was held over four days on the Australia Day long weekend at the Werribee Park Equestrian Centre. RASV CEO Mr Mark OSullivan congratulated first-time competitor Otway View Eloise for taking out the Royal Melbourne Horse Shows Best of Show Championship award, highlighting the increasing number of entries each year. The RASV would like to congratulate Otway View Eloise exhibited by Sally and Monique Centrone on winning the coveted Best of Show Championship at the 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show. The Royal Melbourne Horse Show continues to be regarded as a premier event on the Australian equestrian calendar, with overall entries having increased by seven per cent on last year and by up to 85 per cent across some classes, Mr OSullivan said. First runner up was awarded to Ascot Noosa Fox exhibited by Dean Matthews, second runner went to Beauparc Enchantment exhibited by Elizabeth Greshner, third runner up was taken out by Waylon J Justice exhibited by Adam Wellington, while Newell (NZL) exhibited by Katie Ramsay was awarded fourth runner up. Sections that experienced significant growth this year included Morgans (250 per cent), Australian National Saddle Horse Association (78 per cent), Australian Ponies (75 per cent), Australian Saddle Ponies (38 per cent) and Saddle Horse Championships (30 per cent), which was the largest number of entries since its introduction in 2011. A 40 per cent increase was recorded in Racing Victorias Thoroughbred section, which was also selected as the first ever feature breed for the event. Other highlights of this years event included the Saddle Horse Championships, a qualifier for the 2014 Royal Melbourne Show and Show Horse Council of Australasias Grand National Championships 2015; and new sections for the Arabian Bridle Hack, Australian Pony Stud Book Society Derivative Stallions and Colts and the Best Novice Thoroughbreds. Judging of the 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show was conducted by nationally and internationally acclaimed experts, including Mr Robert Parker Jones and Mrs Beverley Moore, both from the UK.
