Printer Friendly instructions One size US H-8 (5mm), or size to obtain gauge One size US M-13 (9mm) (for attaching fringe) Yarn needle FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Scarf measures approximately 7"/18cm wide x 70"/178cm long GAUGE In pattern, 7 pattern repeats and 15 rows = 4"/10cm. Note: One pattern repeat consists of one ch-sp and the following sl st. Gauge is not critical for this project. STITCHES USED Chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st) SPECIAL STITCH FPdc: Front-post double crochetYarn over, insert hook from front to back and then to front again around post of stitch, yarn over and draw up loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice.

COLOR SEQUENCE Work first section with A, [next section with B, next section with C, next section with B, next section with A] 3 times NOTE To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color. SCARF With smaller hook and A, ch 39. Row 1 (RS): Sl st in 3rd ch from hook (skipped chains count as first ch-sp), *ch 2, sk next 2 ch, sl st in next ch; repeat from * across, turn13 pattern repeats. Row 2: *Ch 3, sl st in next ch-sp; repeat from * across, turn. Repeat last row until scarf measures 5 1/2", end with a WS row and change to B in last st of last row. Post-Stitch Row (RS): Ch 3, sl st in next ch-sp, *ch 2, working in front of next ch-sp, FPdc around sl st 2 rows below, ch 2, sk the ch-sp behind the FPdc, sl st in next ch-sp; repeat from * across to last 2 ch-sps, ch 2, FPdc around sl st 2 rows below, ch 3, sl st in last ch-sp. Next Row: *Ch 3, sl st in next ch-sp; repeat from * across, turn. Repeat last row until scarf measures 5 1/2", end with a WS row and change to next color in color sequence Repeat from Post-Stitch Row eleven more times, changing to the next color in the color sequence at the end of each 5 1/2" section (except last section). Fasten off. FINISHING Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block lightly, if desired. Fringe: Cut 52 strands each of A, B, and C, 20"/51cm long. Hold 2 strands of A, B, and C together (for a total of 6 strands) and fold in half forming a loop at folded end. With RS facing, insert larger hook from WS into first unworked ch-sp of lower edge of scarf. Draw loop through to WS, thread ends of strands through loop and pull to tighten and secure. Repeat to attach fringe in each ch-sp across both short ends of scarf. Comb out fringe and trim to about 8"/20.5cm.
