SAFER INTERNET DAY celebrations in Poland are coordinated by the Polish Safer Internet Awareness Centre: Nobody's Children

Foundation and NASK.

The Polish Safer Internet Center was established in 2005 within the European Commission's Safer Internet Programme. It is run by the Nobodys Children Foundation (Fundacja Dzieci Niczyje - FDN) and NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network). Nobodys Children Foundation is a nonprofit non-governmental organization, which since 1991 has been providing a broad scope of assistance for abused children, their families and caregivers. The Foundation runs advocacy centre for abused children, organises and implements many projects related to the problem of child abuse and provides training courses to different groups of professionals. Since 2004 NCF has been working in the field of Internet safety. NASK has been operating since 1993 as a research and development entity. It is a pioneer of the Polish Internet and one of the leading tele-IT operators. NASK maintains the national register of pl domain names and conducts scientific research. For a number of years it has been contributing to the content of the Polska.pl educational portal. It is within NASK that the CERT Polska team operates, responding to events violating Internet safety.

Events planned for Safer Internet Day 2014 Safer Internet Day conference in Warsaw on 11 February 2014. Safer Internet Day press conference mainly intended for the media, but representatives of educational sector, NGOs, law enforcement and government will be also invited. Members of the Polish Advisory Board will participate too. Opening lecture An interactive debate on "How to create Better internet together" featuring representatives of different stakeholders: police, education system, Safer Internet Centre and youth themselves. Ceremony of public announcement of national winners in Best Content A session with 5-minute presentations from partners on their initiatives on child safety online Decentralized SID model. Local events across the country organized by local partners. The initiatives related to childrens online safety will be undertaken by schools, libraries, industry partners, local media and local ngos. The actions may include talks to children & parents at schools, local media campaigns, school theatres performances, school competitions, etc. All ideas can be registered via www.dbi.pl website. The website allows local organisers to view initiatives according to regions, so they can see whats going on in the neigbourhood and it gives them an opportunity for joining forces for future wider actions. Due to the winter holidays in many parts of Poland, the initiatives can be registered until the end of February. All submitted initiatives will take part in competitions with valuable prizes. The winners will be announced in March. Media outreach: dissemination of the press release, interviews, media appearances.
