Activities/ Techniques Stage Warm-up The T greets class. The T asks for absentees. The Ss greet the T. back. The S on duty names the absentees.

Purpose - to prepare the class for the new lesson

Lead-in activity

1. Stand in front of a child and introduce yourself. Mime and say Im Mr/Mrs X. Point to a child and elicit his/her name. Model the response. e.g Im Alex. Do the same for the rest of the class. As children say their names, write them down in English on a piece of folded card. 2. Hold up a folded card with a name on it and ask: Whos (Alex?) .Encourage the child to come to the front and take the card. As Ss. take their cards the class greet him/her. The Ss are attentive. The Ss come to the front of the class. 1.The T. pins up flashcards nr. 4-7 on the board and says the appropriate words. 2.The T makes an introduction about the characters of the book. Children repeat, chorally and individually. The Ss are attentive. 1. The T draws a large 2 on the BB. The T points to it, mimes and says. Open your books at page 2. 2. The T. plays the cassette. 3. The T asks the Ss what they can see in the pictures illustrating the dialogue. e.g. Who are they? Look! This is Punch and ! 4. The T. writes the names of the characters on the BB, including some extra names. The T. plays the dialogue again. 5. The T. reads the example on pg. 3. 6. The T. asks two Ss to act this dialogue.

The Ss open their books. The Ss listen and repeat chorally, and individually. The Ss answer. The Ss listen, then say the names they hear. The Ss repeat individually and chorally. Ss use the exchange as a model and act similar dialogues. 1.The T. asks Ss to look at the -listening illustrations of the song in their -speaking books. The T reads and mimes these instructions. The T. tells the Ss that they are going to play a game with these instructions. Ss have their books closed in front of them. 2.The T says: Open your books at pg.2; Stand up; sit down. 3.The T repeats the commands. 4.The T plays the cassette. 5.The T plays the tape again and asks the Ss to carry out the commands. The Ss are attentive. The Ss carry out the tasks. The Ss listen and sing along. The Ss. listen, sing and carry out the actions. 1.The T pins up the character flashcards on the BB. , says and waves : Goodbye Lulu! Goodbye ,Larry! 2.The T encourages Ss to say goodbye as she leaves the room. The Ss repeat after the T. and say Good bye
