Jhailan Wilson with mentor Deandre Dixon

Sixth grade student Jhailan Wilson sat with Senior Deandre Dixon on the bench throughout the game on January 9th against AAE. Jhailan joined our team huddles during timeouts and halftime breaks, observed Coach Schrager drawing out plays and directions, and learned how to be a responsible member of the high school basketball team. Deandre served as an excellent role model for our young middle school players.

The vaccine is still available in the School Based Health Center. Call us and we can fax or e-mail families the permission forms. Call Dawn Carter RN or Sue DeGennaro APRN with questions. 860-2427834 ext. 2380

Get Schooled in Schoology

This year, CREC has embraced a new online learning system called Schoology. Every CREC student has been enrolled in each of their classes within Schoology. Sowhat is Schoology (pronounced skool-ah-jee not skoh-ah-loh-jee)? It is like a digital classroom and teachers can add assignments, grades, announcements and materials. Students can submit assignments, check their scores and complete online quizzes and tests. Teachers are using Schoology in a variety of ways. Some teachers are using Schoology more for homework, while others are using Schoology for specific projects or research papers. Some teachers use it for everything! There are many advantages to this new system! Students are able to work more independently and at their individual pace while benefiting from the online collaboration with their peers and teachers. It also makes it easier to make up work for absences and review work at home. Best of all, parents can be more involved and have a better understanding of what their children are studying and their individual progress. Ask your child about Schoology and have them give you a virtual tour!!!!! If you still have questions about Schoology, please write Ms. Artis at suartis@crec.org!

IB Learner Profile Trait of the Month of January

Risk Taker
They approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and forethought, and have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas and strategies. They are brave and articulate in defending their beliefs. Over the course of the month, MLC will be highlighting this area of the learner profile. Please take some time with your student to review this trait and the positive influence it can bring to your everyday life. Here at MLC, we will be celebrating those students who exhibit caring behaviors. Your child could be one of our students of the month!
