Please let me know if your student is listed above and will not be able to make it on their assigned morning. Valentines Day is only a few short weeks away. I am sending home a letter in the Monday Folders this week with a list of the all of the students names in our classroom for students wanting to bring in Valentines cards to pass out on that Friday. It is okay if the students bring in cards with small treats attached to them as long as the treats are not food. In other words, no candy should accompany any of the cards. Thank you for your support of our District Wellness Policy. Thank you for your continued support for our school through the contribution of Box Tops! Our class has

We will also be continuing to work on homophones, words that sound alike but are spelled differently, such as sea/see, and to/two/too. Writing Work continues on our informational writing pieces. At this point, students have completed their first drafts. This week we will spend time revising and editing their work before writing final copies at the end of the week. Math We are going to take some time this week to go over the midyear review the students completed last week. Overall, they did really well and should be very proud of their work! (Students, the secret number is 48, because tonight is the 48th annual Superbowl). Well begin with unit 7 in math this week, all about fractions. This can be confusing for some students, so please check in with them often to see how they are doing. Math Club this Tuesday will be all about fractions. All are welcome at 8am. This week we will map its upper and lower sub-regions and begin to look at its economy and natural resources. States and capitals can be found on the class blog if you and your child would like to get a head-start on practicing. Science This week in science we will continue to invent. We will finish with our Thingamajig projects and present them to each other in the form of a quick infomercial. Later we will begin planning for the annual Egg Drop. This is always an exciting time for the kids as they create some sort of invention that will keep an egg safe when dropped from a height. Keep checking in with your fourth grader to see how their inventions are shaping!
