Chapter 3: Loading 2D and 3D SEG-Y Data

Chapter 3
Loading 2D and 3D SEG-Y Data
The first step in creating a seismic interpretation is generally to convert SEG-Y data to . 2ds for 2D data! and"or .3ds for 3D data! format that can #e $sed in SeisVision. The 2D or 3D SEG-Y Load Wizard in SeisVision progresses thro$gh a series of steps that re%$ire all the pertinent information to correctly load data. The res$ltant .2ds/.3ds files can #e stored at any location on an individ$al comp$ter or in the net&or' environment d$ring data loading. (t is) therefore) not re%$ired to create a pro*ect in ProjectExplorer prior to loading SEG-Y data. (t may) ho&ever) #e desirea#le to create a pro*ect #efore SEG-Y data loading #eca$se certain defa$lt settings map coordinates) $nits) etc.! may then #e $sed &itho$t &orry of inserting the &rong val$e. (n Chapter 2 a pro*ect) Moosehead) &as created in ProjectExplorer. The Moosehead pro*ect has #oth 2D and 3D seismic data availa#le in SEG-Y format. SeisVision has t&o SEG-Y load &i+ards) one for 2D and one for 3D data) to assist yo$ &ith loading the seismic data. (n this chapter yo$ &ill learn to, Load 2D and 3D SEG-Y seismic data
