Fire ...

CUSHING CITIZEN

| SATURDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2014

Winds on Wednesday blew about 15-20 mph, fanning the fire toward the north. Cushing Fire Department responded to the call about 1 p.m., Pixler said. Mutual aid came from firefighting agencies from Northeast Lincoln County, Drumright, Perkins, Tryon, Ripley, Ingalls and Agra, Pixler said. CFD and Cushing Emergency Management had tanker trucks on the grounds. Their big purpose is to refill the small grass trucks that are fighting on the front lines, Pixler said. could result in a misdemeanor charge punishable by a fine of up to $500 to up to a year in prison. Other counties under burn bans are Alfalfa, Blaine, Canadian, Canadian, Cleveland, Cotton, Creek, Grady, Haskell, Jefferson, Latimer, LeFlore, McClain, McIntosh, Okmulgee, Pittsburg, Pottawatomie, Rogers, Seminole, Stephens, Tillman and Woods. The cities of Edmond, Midwest City and Oklahoma City also have instituted burn bans. Commissioners have the option to cancel the ban before the 30-day term if conditions improve, or extend the ban if conditions persist. Both Kelly and Thomas were wearing seat belts, according to the report. Airbags did not deploy in Kellys vehicle. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the OHP. Potter was assisted at the scene by fellow OHP Troopers Steve Burrows, Coleman Parker and Todd Blaylock and OHP Lt. Gabriel Leach, the Payne County Sheriffs Office, Cushing Fire Department and Air Evac. like school, Lexi said. She said she not only likes school but truly loves Deep Rock. Ive been here since kindergarten and will really miss it very much. My friend Autumn and I, in kindergarten, picked out a tree on the playground and would go sit under it and talk when we were bored or not interested in playing. It is still our go-to tree. In six years at Deep Rock, one assumes, a dramatic young lady would have latched onto a boyfriend. Not so with Lexi. My dad said I cant have a boyfriend until Im in the seventh grade. That same dad, she said, awoke early with Lexi and her little sister on Christmas morning. We got up at 5:30 in the morning to open presents! she said, a strong hint of incredulity in her voice. Lexi said she likes food from the school cafeteria their hamburgers are delicisoso and music. In fact, she plans to be either a singer or an actress as an adult. I love to sing, Lexi said. If there were not music in the world, I would go crazy.

Oak Grove School latest to dine on Keystone

Students at Oak Grove Public Schools will have fresher, healthier meal options for the remainder of the school year, thanks to the school districts newly announced partnership with Keystone Foodservice. Keystone Foodservice focuses on providing freshly prepared breakfast and lunch options for the students it serves. The company, which served about 2,000 students daily during the 2012-13 school year, was selected as the cafeteria vendor for Oak Grove Public Schools between Cushing and Drumright. We are already seeing a difference in what Keystone offers our students, Krista Burden, superintendent of Oak Grove School, said. Keystone focuses on making fresh meals with students tastes in mind. They grill burgers and chicken on a grill seasoned by hand rather than cooking prepackaged meats one tray at a time. Our students are going to taste the difference.
