DIVISION OF CAREER SERVICES JOB OFFER POLICY for CLASS of 2014 This policy has been formulated to act

as a guide to registered students for taking part in various recruitment processes facilitated by the Lovely Professional University.

The aims of this policy are:

To regulate procedures regarding taking part in the processes and offers arising out of the same. To lay down procedure and process for accepting JOB OFFERS To lay down the number of JOB OFFERS available to students, conditions for accepting, over-riding provisions etc To codify the expected conduct of students during the processes and to specify the deterrents regarding unwarranted communication with companies or any other player/medium which might affect the image of Lovely Professional University directly or indirectly To lay down guidelines for joining of students.

Application of the policy

The policy applies to all students who have registered for placement assistance at appropriate time.

Definitions

COMPANY LEVEL RECRUITMENT is the recruitment process held by any recruiting company without seeking facilitation of the university. CRUCIAL DATE is the cut-off date indicated in every placement process notice. This date will be used for determining eligibility of a particular student for that particular process. DEBARRMENT is the process which leads to a student being taken out of placement process. This may be caused by Performance Gap and/or Misconduct as defined elsewhere in this document. PEP or Professional Enhancement Program are the various credited/noncredited inputs given to students by Lovely Professional University to improve their placement preparedness.

INDEPENDENT OFFER is a job offer secured by a student using independent efforts without involvement/facilitation of the university. All INDEPENDENT OFFERS must be reported to DCS. JOB OFFER means final selection in a company whose result may be declared either during the process orally or by way of a subsequent communication either made directly to student or mediated through university. The oral communication shall invariably be followed up in writing. Pre-placement offer or a job offer made to a student during the course of a university facilitated internship/training/ or an On-Job Training will also be treated as a valid offer in case of acceptance of the same by the student. JOB OFFER is classified as one of the following: Company Type Core Company Core Company Non Core Company Non-Core Company Profile Type Core Profile Non-Core Profile Core Profile Non-Core Profile Offer Type Matching offer Non-Matching offer Matching offer Non-Matching offer.

For a Student who is sitting in a placement drive: Core Company: The Company that is coming for Campus Recruitment is belongs to the same area in which the Student is perusing his degree. Non-Core Company: The Company that is coming for Campus Recruitment belongs to a different area in comparison to what the student is perusing his degree in. Core Profile: Student getting a job offer matching with his program of Studies. Non-Core Profile: Student getting a job offer not-matching with his program of Studies.

MISCONDUCT is any act on part of student which may be covered under one or more of the following: 7.1 7.2 7.3 7.4 7.5 Misbehavior with any company officials or university officials involved in the process Disobedience of any directions or general instructions Interacting with company officials unless otherwise permitted Establishing contact with company officials. Sending any communication/request to company officials/company

either directly or indirectly through parents/siblings or any other acquaintances with a view to seek concessions/information/influence decision etc. 7.6 7.7 Registering for a process and then skipping it. This would also have a monetary penalty as described elsewhere in this policy Leaving the process at any stage other than immediately after Pre Placement Talk. This would be subject to provisions of security deposits as described elsewhere in this document. 7.11 Misusing provisions of duty leave in any form. The misuse/violations of the same would invite separate action which would be circulated at appropriate time. 7.12 Not following the prescribed norms of dressing, decorum etc during or after the process. OJT or On Job Training is a special dispensation created to facilitate the joining of students, upon their selection, with companies at any stage during final semester. The relieving of students under OJT is regulated as per separate policy provisions. PACKAGE FOCUS Ist Offer Conditions for Sitting in the Second Company Matching offer 1.Profile/company matches with his/her programme of studies. 2.Package offered is higher by at least 1.5 times PACKAGE FOCUS is the option available to a student who has secured first offer under MATCHING OFFER category. A student who has secured offer under MATCHING OFFER category can take part further only in such processes where profile/company matches with his/her programme of studies and where the package offered is higher by at least 1.5 times as described elsewhere in this document

PERFORMANCE GAP is the gap between various minimum qualifying marks prescribed during PEP inputs and the ones secured by student. PLACEMENT PROCESS is the recruitment process for a particular company under various available profiles. This starts with registration of the students for a particular process and culminates with final selection and may include various intervening stages like written tests, interview etc. This may be classified as one of the following: Sr. No 11.1 Type of Campus ON CAMPUS Definition Is a placement process where whole process or any stage of the process is organized in Lovely Professional University Campus. Is a placement process which is facilitated by DCS where the entire stage is held outside the Lovely Professional University. Is a placement process organized in Lovely Professional University where students from other institutions also take part.

JOINT Is a placement process facilitated by Lovely Professional University organized in some other institution where students of Lovely Professional University are also invited to participate. Is any fair organized in Lovely Professional University where more than one placement processes are organized.

PROFILE FOCUS is the option available to a student who has secured first offer under NON MATCHING OFFER category. A student who has secured offer under NON MATCHING OFFER category can now take part only in such processes where profile matches with his/her programme of studies. PROFILE FOCUS Ist Offer Non-Matching offer Conditions for Sitting in the Second Company Profile matches with his/her programme of studies

13. PRE-PLACEMENT OFFER is a job offer made to the student as a follow up or during the course of an internship/training/project etc done by the student with a company. 14. SPECIAL DISPENSATION is the over-riding power to modify any of the governing conditions of this policy 15.WALK IN is a placement process which has been thrown open to all eligible students who may or may not have registered for placement assistance.

D.The Policy

MISCLLANEOUS A Student can participate in any number of placement drives till he/she gets a job offer. At times company/university may prescribe certain more criteria other than eligibility etc to create a filter for assessing the students. This will be binding to the students. Similarly, the companies may also prescribe score-lines of few benchmarking tests like AMCAT etc for assessing the students or prescribe their own short-listing methodology. This will be binding for students. CONSEQUENCES OF NOT REPORTING AT THE DRIVE Students are required to register at placement portal for a drive only after convincing themselves about the nature of job profile, location and other factors etc. Sr No. 3.1 Type of Mistake Committed In case a student registers for a drive and does not report at time and place stipulated for drive or leaves the process at any subsequent stage other than after pre-placement talk, he will be fined and will not be allowed to take part in any fresh/pending processes till he deposits penalty amount. In case a student who has already been fined earlier and commits the same offence again, he will be required to pay a higher penalty failing which he will be not be allowed to take part in any fresh/pending processes till he deposits penalty amount Any student who has been fined 2 times on account of this is liable to be debarred from placement process.

Non serious students must not register for a drive. However in case a student fails to register for 5 drives where he/she was eligible and where at least 2 of the processes matched with his profile, then it may be taken as a sign of his/her non-seriousness towards placement activities and follow up action including debarment may be taken after seeking explanation. OFFERS: The university shall follow the principle of One student; One offer. Thus in ordinary circumstances, after a student gets an offer through a process facilitated by the University, he/she cannot take part in any other campus recruitment process and is expected to join the company for which he/she got an offer through university. ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER: A student who gets an offer has to communicate acceptance in prescribed Performa within 3 clear days from the time offer was made to him/her whether directly by the company or through Department of Placements. In case a student does not communicate acceptance within 72 hours, it would be treated as acceptance of the offer and no further correspondence will be entertained. A student who accepts an offer (as per 7 and 7.1 above) is required to deposit security as per applicable slab as described elsewhere in this policy.

NON ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER: A student who does not accept the offer has to communicate reasons for non-acceptance within 3 clear days from the time offer was made to him/her whether directly by the company or through Department of Placements. In case reasons for non-acceptance are not found satisfactory, the university shall take a decision whether to allow the student to take further part in any placement process; and, if yes, the conditions may be imposed on the student.

In case student does not communicate as per provisions of S. No. 8 above, he/she will not be allowed to take further part in the placement process.

SECOND OFFER The university recognizes the fact that first offer may or may not be as per profile/package expectations of the student. Thus following provisions are there to attend to both the concerns. 1st Offer Type Matching offer Non Matching Offer Eligible for 2nd offer on the basis of Package Focus Profile focus

PACKAGE FOCUS: After securing a MATCHING OFFER, a student can make an attempt at a second company provided the package offered by the company is at least 1.5 times more than the one in which he/she has already secured an offer. After securing first offer, a student can also make an attempt at a second company if the university invokes special dispensation clause and declares the drive open to all students or in some cases selectively to some students based on companys criterion or universitys relation etc with that company.

However, in ordinary circumstances, extra opportunity at S No 14 and 14.1 above shall not be available to those students who have got one offer and whose employer has mandated that students selected should not be allowed to take part in any other process.

Similarly, in ordinary circumstances, opportunity at S No, 14 and 14.1 above shall not be available to those students where the company mandates that it would not consider those students who have already secured an offer with any other company in past. PROFILE FOCUS: A student who has secured a NON MATCHING OFFER can take part in such processes where offered profiles match his/her programme. After securing a MATCHING OFFER, a student can also make an attempt at a second company if the university invokes special dispensation clause and declares the drive open to all students or in some cases selectively to some students based on companys criterion or universitys relation etc with that company.

However, in ordinary circumstances, extra opportunity at S No 17 and 17.1 above shall not be available to those students who have got one offer and whose employer has mandated that students selected should not be allowed to take part in any other process Similarly, in ordinary circumstances, opportunity at S No 17 and 17.1 above shall not be available to students where the company mandates that it would not consider those students who have already secured an offer with any other company in past. After the student has secured first offer, he/she is entitled to exercise PACKAGE FOCUS/PROFILE FOCUS options as applicable. In case he/she gets a second offer, the first offer would automatically stand surrendered. INTERPRETATION OF OFFERS SCENARIOS Short listing of the student by a company would not be counted as job offer till result is declared. In the event of his/her getting an offer, the same would be regulated as under: SCENARIO ONE: NO PREVIOUS OFFER IN HAND: This counted as first offer. would be

SCENARIO TWO: ONE PREVIOUS OFFER IN HAND: If he gets an offer from a second company where he was shortlisted prior to getting first offer, the student will have the option to choose within 72 hours one job from among any of the two offers. In case no communication is received, the one with higher package will be considered and the other offer shall be deemed to have been surrendered. The onus of conveying his/her option in time lies on students. All offers and short listings till now or in pipeline would stand cancelled.

The moment a student has got first offer, he/she will not be allowed to take part in any new/incomplete process except in the event of a process falling under point 12 and 13 above subject to conditions prescribed in point 14 and 15. A Student can avail any number of offers through Job Fairs, Walk-ins and from any other source which are not initiated by Department of Placements but he/she must intimate the Department of Placements about the same so that in case there is any verification/enquiry from the company, Department of Placements is in a position to answer the same. The university shall not verify the credentials of any such student who does not intimate Department of Placements about his/her job offers secured independently. Student Coordinator Student Placement Coordinator whose performance is found to be excellent in coordinating the drives will be eligible for one extra offer as a token of appreciation. The list of such coordinators will be released on 28th February, 2014. In case of any peculiar situation arising out of unforeseen contingencies like 2 results being declared on same day etc, the DSCS may have to take a balanced view on case to case basis and on the facts and merits of the case. Any decision taken under this clause will not be treated as precedence for any future analogies. No request on this count shall be entertained. JOINING AND REPORTING and CONSEQUENCES OF NOT JOINING All students who have secured an offer are expected to join the company invariably. As university has to ensure continued relationships with companies, it is essential to ensure that students indeed report to join at the company where they were offered job by a university facilitated process. In order to ensure an element of seriousness amongst students, they are required to deposit a refundable security when they accept a placement offer. A student who accepts an offer is required to deposit the same within 10 calendar days of the same. Till the time this is done, the offer would be conditional and he/she would not be allowed to take part in any other placement process, if otherwise admissible. In case company insists on immediate joining as OJT, the student will be required to deposit security amount immediately and in any case before getting relieved. This security will be forfeited in case of a student who does not join the company where he was required to join finally OR fails to complete OJT satisfactorily. . However this shall not apply in case where there is a written delay beyond 30th September 2014 in joining at companys end. A student is required to furnish salary statement of first month from the company in order to prove that he has indeed joined and availed of the final placement offer. Security would be refunded within 3 months of production of first salary statement.

ACTIONS FOR NON COMPLIANCE/MISCONDUCT Any student whose conduct falls within the definition of MISCONDUCT as defined above will be liable to be debarred from placement process and to face disciplinary/administrative action.

GENERAL A student who has secured one offer need not take part in PEP sessions and his/her name will be transferred to OA (Offer Availed) list. Any Provision mentioned under this Policy may be revised at any point of time as deemed appropriate by the University. When a student receives any communication whether written or oral or by any other means it has to be communicated to Department of Placements immediately. Similarly, when a student sends any mail or replies to communication to any company officials when required officially, a copy of the same must be marked to Department of Placements.

In case of any issue arising out of this policy and interpretation thereof; decision regarding any point not covered under this policy; and in case of any

provision/decision being changed, modified or overridden, Pro-Chancellor LPU shall be the final authority. Note: In addition to this the policy of "On Job Traininig" would be released on of before 31st October'13 The above mentiod policy is applicable for all the drives conducted after 25th October'13
