SCOPE Scope of this document is to define and classificate the Hazardous areas relevant to the valves and breather pipes installed on the Gas Fuel piping that feed the new Gas Turbines (GT16 and GT17) that will be installed in the FAJR 1 Power Extension located at BANDAR-IMAM (IRAN). The examined equipment are installed on the Gas Fuel piping included between the following flanges: connection to existing Fuel Gas Main Line, connection to GT16 skids (Fuel gas system, safety shut down valve, fuel gas metering), connection to GT17 skids (Fuel gas system, safety shut down valve, fuel gas metering).

The Hazardous area classification inside each GT skid has been determinated from the manufacturer (GEF). The considered equipment /points are: valve 00EKG01AA01 (manual and solenoid valve) valve 00EKG01AA02 (N2 purge) valve 60EKG01AA03 (drain) valve 60EKG01AA01 (vent) valve 70EKG01AA03 (drain) valve 70EKG01AA01 (vent) Breather pipe in atmosphere of the GT16 fuel gas system (60EKG06BZ001) Breather pipe in atmosphere of the GT16 fuel gas safety shut down valve skid (60EKG07BZ001) Breather pipe in atmosphere of the GT17 fuel gas system (70EKG06BZ001) Breather pipe in atmosphere of the GT17 fuel gas safety shut down valve skid (70EKG07BZ001)

STANDARDS The determination and classification of the hazardous areas considered in this document are in accordance with the follows applicable IEC std: IEC 60079-10 Pubblication date Edition 2002-06 4.0

Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres Part 10: Classification of hazardous areas.

FLAMMABLE MATERIAL According to the contract Volume III _ ANNEX 2A-1-table 6.5 the prevalent flammable gas is Methane CH4 (83,23%). The meaning characteristics of the Methane CH4 are: Spontaneous ignition temperature Relative density of gas Mass concentration (M) Mass Volumetric (liquid) Lel % VOL Ratio of the specific heat () Flash point Temperature class and group Gas constant (R) Factor [(+1)/ (-1)] [ J/Kmol K ] [ C ] [ Kg/Kmol ] [ Kg/m ] % [ C ] <0 0,554 16,04 415 4,40 = 0,029kg/m 1,31 537 II AT1 8314 7,45

DESIGN ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS All the considered equipment/points are installed in open space, without barriers (wall, enclosure, etc.), therefore with free air circulation: Air minimum speed (w) Maximum temperature Barometric Pressure Ventilation availability Ventilation efficency factor (f) Ventilation efficency level [m/s] [ C ] [ mbar ] 0,5 52 1013 Good 1 medium

VALVES Installation

All valves are installed on the Gas Fuel piping. The installation is in open space, with free air circulation . 6.2 EMISSION SOURCE

Each equipment has the following emissions: - Continuous level emission: Negligible - Second level emission: Fortuitous emission consequent to a break. The parameters used to define the area classification around each equipment are the following: Hole dimension relevant to the emission Maximum pressure Emission time Safety factor Initial concentration Discharge Temperature Discharge factor [c] [Xo] [A] 2,5 10 6 m(= 2,5mm) 28 bar 30s 0,5 50% 32C 0,8

[]

Considering the high pressure in the piping and the source system type, in case of emission as defined in the above par., the system pressure do not suffer a considerable reduction. Therefore, it is possible to define the emission flow rate [dg/dt]max as follow:
2 dG = c A + 1) dt
0,5

P T R M
0,5

With the parameters listed in the above chapters, the Emission Flow Rate is 0,0094 kg/s therefore, the critical distance dz is:

k LEL% dz = 16,5 ( P 10 ) M A =< 0,5m 100 Considering all the elements in case of break: - emission level : second - ventilation efficiency level : medium - ventilation availability : good It is possible to define the area around each equipment with a good safety margin as follows:

BREATHER PIPE IN ATMOSPHERE Installation

The breather pipe in atmosphere relevant to Fuel gas conditioning and metering skid of each GT is installed in open space, with free air circulation . 7.2 Emission Source

During the normal operation of each GT, from the breather pipe can occur of the occasional emission. According to IEC60079-10 attcahment A, the system has been classified as follows: First Level Emission The parameters used to define the area classification around to the top of each breather pipe are the following: Hole dimension relevant to the emission Maximum pressure Discharge Temperature Discharge factor Sonic emission [c] [] [A]
