Critical Reflections on Structuring Knowledge in Islamic and Christian Theological Encounter

The spring academy invites young researchers from Germany and Turkey to engage in inter-theological dialogue. Starting point is the Dictionary of Dialogue. Basic Terms in Christianity and Islam which was published in both German and Turkish in the autumn of 2013. For the first time, this work combines Christian and Muslim theological approaches towards the own and the other religion. Theologians from both Germany and Turkey outline the basic terms and concepts of Christianity and Islam. The spring academy seeks to reflect on the underlying concepts, methods and challenges of such an approach to systematize religious knowledge and focuses on key theological aspects occurring in the dictionarys articles, such as revelation, anthropology, and tradition. 30 young theologians Christian and Muslim researchers from Germany together with Muslim researchers from Turkey will be nominated by professors to spend nearly one week in a unique learning environment, being in close personal contact with their teachers. Students working on their doctoral thesis, junior researchers and highly qualified students in the fields of Catholic, Protestant and Islamic theology may participate in the spring academy. Christian and Muslim academics from several German and Turkish universities will conduct the seminars which will include lectures, workshops and discussions.
