Ensure insulin dose accuracy
• Make sure you never recap your insulin pen
with the needle still on, as this leaves an open
passageway into the medication cartridge
• Attach a new needle before each injection
and immediately remove after the injection
• Check the flow of medication through the
needle before every injection
• If medication continues to drip from the
needle after injections, hold the needle in
the skin longer when injecting, to ensure
delivery of the complete dose
