Group Supervisor, part time temp - FOR IMMEDIATE HIRE About Lutheran Settlement House Teens 4 Good Academy: Lutheran Settlement House runs a daily after school out-of-school time (OST) program for approximately 37 high school-aged youth in the city of Philadelphia. The program offers young people of various high schools throughout the city the opportunity to improve life skills and explore college and career options. The program focuses specifically on entrepreneurship, giving young people the opportunity to envision and initiate original business ideas. Youth take advantage of opportunities to grow, define personal goals, and work to achieve their vision. The program strives to achieve a youth-led program model where young people gain the skills and experience to become key decision makers in program planning and development. Position Summary: The Group Supervisors primary goals are to: provide positive youth development and outreach for high-school youth in a daily after school out-of-school time (OST) program for approximately 37 high school students. The Group Supervisor works under contract with the Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS) and Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC). This position reports directly to the Site Director. This is a 25 hours per week contract position at $15/hour to begin immediately through the rest of the school year (end of June). Duties and Responsibilities: Direct Facilitation: Provide program oversight with youth from 3:00-6:00pm, Monday through Friday; Facilitate structured workshops, such as political education, leadership trainings, community meetings, debates, discussion groups, art and self-expression, and media literacy; Supervise unstructured activities, such as team sports, music, theater, or billiards; Implement Project-Based Learning (PBL), where youth will develop their own group or individual projects that improve the local community, or enhance their 21st Century skills; Conduct regular check-ins with youth to build healthy supportive relationships; Attend all required trainings and meetings; Program Development: Create curriculum for topics including entrepreneurship, social justice, self-expression, identity, and leadership; Identify needs and interests of youth to determine program content with Site Director; Assist in planning the monthly program calendar, including brainstorming daily activities, trips, and guest speakers; Recruit teaching artists, mentors, and community leaders to volunteer to lead special classes Administration: Daily use of PCAPS (Provider, Contract, Attendance, Performance and Payment System), a web-based management information system that tracks performance, contract compliance, and fiscal information.

Organizing: Can leverage resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done, and efficiently, arranges information and files in a useful manner. Drive for Results: Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully, is constantly and consistently one of the top performers, very bottom-line oriented, steadfastly pushes self and others for results. Experience and Qualifications: 1. Associates Degree in related field, with at least 1-2 years of experience working directly with youth, coordinating programs, and/or in the non-profit sector; 2. A demonstrated commitment to the individual and collective development of youth 3. Cooperative hard worker, who can problem-solve, show initiative and creativity, and has stamina; 4. A team-player who is able to adapt to the needs of a small office environment; 5. Strong facilitation, public speaking, and written communication skills; 6.
