Part A [10 marks] In the recently launched Malaysian National Education Blueprint, it was stated: There is a lack of alignment

between the written curriculum, the taught curriculum and the curriculum assessed. Discuss the above statement in 3 pages. You do not have to make any references. The lack of alignment between the written curriculum, taught curriculum and the curriculum assessed as stated by the recently launched Malaysian National Educational Blueprint is clearly depicting our students level in schools. There are several factors do contribute to this misalignment of standards. Hence, discussions regarding the misalignment of standards have become popular among the educators. As we all know, our government had carved a written curriculum using the excellent education systems as a modal in order to reach the international standards. The international standards do give substance to knowledge and skills which are fundamental to achieve the aspired standards. Besides that, the international standards and the National Education Philosophy were given importance to produce a curriculum which is suitable for Malaysians. According to the National Education Philosophy, our Education system is bound to produce a student who is developed holistically and capable of contributing to the betterment of our country. Looking into the matter deeply, we would realize that the curriculum has not been fully utilized to educate the children. Furthermore, the teachers are not well equipped with the required knowledge to disseminate their worthwhile experiences to the future generations. Thus, the misalignment problems are on the rise. This problem takes root because the particular teacher is not actually trained for the subject he or she was asked to teach. Hence, the poor teacher needs to combat with the inconvenient subject in order to deliver the lessons half -heartedly. When a teacher fails to deliver the actual content of the lesson, the poor students would become the victims. There is a possibility for the students to misunderstand a lesson.

Those days before our country attaining the independence, the education system was indeed systematic. Such well-maintained education system had produced much manpower that was capable of contributing to the betterment of our country. The notable thing is that, our grandfathers can speak in English very well compared to these days graduated people. Some of them are really scared to strike a conversation with other people. It is indicating that something is wrong with our education system and it needs to be overhauled. If we ponder over the above matter, our mind would disclose an opinion that the lack of alignment was due to the wrong questioning techniques during the examination. Our teachers are not really giving Importance to the students higher order thinking skills. The students have become ingrained with the normal questions which are really easy to be found in the text effortlessly. Therefore they are unable to think out of the box when they are exposed to a problem which is beyond their capabilities to solve them. In order to find a solution for this increasing problem, the students must be trained to think for challenging questions. More importantly, the teachers must be sent for a course such as CELTA and other suitable English courses the learn the questioning techniques. Apart from that, our government should be very careful when they are about the introduce a new program or way in order to assess the students in our country. Every step should be taken considering the level of the students in our country. Adapting an inappropriate program into our ongoing education system might cause unpredictable problems. One of the examples to explain this would be the emergence of KSSR . Many teachers are cracking their head to understand it better. However, it is becoming more and more of a problem to our teachers. Assessing our students according to the criterion mentioned in KSSR could indeed complicated . The teachers who are facing problems due to the technology glitches are encountering difficulties to assesses the students ability level. Many teachers are not really satisfied with the governments newly introduced KSSR system.
