On-campus Migration: The on-campus migration of 30 courses will be finished during the week of June 10. Afterward we will contact the course instructors and offer our assistance with further development and training on Canvas functionality. We had good session this week with two on-campus instructors who are collaborating on a course. They decided to build the master in one section and then copy it to the other section. One discovery they made is the benefit of creating content pages (think of them as web pages), verses hosting all the course content in Word documents. Word documents cannot be edited in Canvas, so to make a change it must be done in Word and reloaded to the course, which means you have to keep track of the version and remember to delete the old document in Canvas. However a content page can be easily edited by every instructor enrolled in the course. There are more options for making the content interactive as well by adding video, podcasts, links to websites, Powerpoint presentations, images, and linking to Canvas assignments and discussions. It is very exciting to consider the possibilities! Instructors may contact Joanna Cummings by email at jcummings@champlain.edu or elearning@champlain.edu to set up a time to come in and work on courses. Other on-campus courses that are currently in migration include LEAD, and plans are in the making for PATHe also.
