America experienced 2.5 million home burglaries every year from 2009 to 2011. About 30% of these burglaries are committed through an open/unlocked door or window, and on top of that, 66% are residential break-ins. 85% of break-ins are from non-professionals, making them more desperate, and in turn, more dangerous. Only 17% of the homes in America have home security systems. A home invasion occurs every 13 seconds. Home Owners are most at risk in July and August during the day while occupants are at school or work.
