J EC EUROPE 2013 REPORT
The 48th session of JEC Europe Composites Show and Conferences
conrms once more its position of leading Networking platform and
Knowledge-sharing conferences in the global Composites panorama.
JEC Europe remains the best place for Composites professionals to get
the fastest ROI on an event since cumulative returns from the trade
show for all exhibitors are estimated at around 769 million, or US$997
million. Around 65 useful contacts with follow-up orders are acquired
on average per exhibitor, with a declared payback period of 20 months.
JEC Business Meetings service also helped exhibitors attended an
overall of 365 meetings over the 3 days!
The event covered the sectors major topics from mass production to
thermoplastics, smart composites with embedded sensors and new
applications to the environment or again recycling. The automotive
supply chain was front and center as 70% of the parts shown in the
Exhibit Area were related to automotive transportation. Innovation
being the keyword, 11 companies received the prestigious JEC
Innovation Awards this year.
On the Exhibition oor as well as in the Conferences room, one could
feel the effervescing professional crowd that is reecting a steadily
growing market. Indeed, it is estimated that the composites market
will grow at an average annual global rate of 6%, to reach a value
of about 90 billion and a volume of 10 million metric tons by 2015
(compared to 80 billion and 9.2 million MT in 2012).
So much so that given the demand and the fact that JEC Europe already
entirely lls Porte de Versaille Hall 1, JEC Group has decided to increase
the surface area of the trade show signicantly for 2014. So next year,
JEC Europe 2014 will take place in Halls 7.2 and 7.3 of the Porte de
Versailles fairgrounds, with a total surface area of 54,400 sqm (+8%
vs2013) 585,556 sq. ft., or 8.5 times the size of a football pitch!!

Visitors facts and gures
In spite of unprecedented unfavorable climatic conditions
that made all accesses to Paris very difficult, JEC Europe
has once again been a successful edition, with more than
27,750 visitors.
This session of JEC Europe has once more revealed that
this show is more than ever the undisputed leader
in the global market in terms of composite products
manufacturing. Technologically, the continent occupies top
slot in the sector, and the dimensions of JEC Europe 2013
reflected this leading role.
The high number of visitors testies to the appeal of this
platform for the composites market. Of these, 66% came
from abroad (94 different countries) and 34% from France.

Paris, the World capital for composites
JEC Europe brings in visitors from everywhere in the world,
with 94 different nationalities. In 2013, there was a strong
growth in visitors from Russia (+22%), Portugal (+18%)
and Norway (+17%).
Users are more and more won over by composite
materials.
The event is a genuine platform for the global composites
industry, and one of its dening characteristics is its end-
user oriented position.
About two out of three visitors are users of composite
solutions in the main application sectors, namely
aerospace, wind energy, automotive, land transport
(train, bus, subway, tram), construction, civil engineering,
marine, electrical & electronic equipment, sports & leisure,
consumer goods, etc. Aerospace, building and construction,
mass transportation and wind energy are still the most
innovative and dynamic sectors. This year, the JEC Europe

Visitors prole
One of the particularities of JEC Europe lies in the prole
of its visitor base which is essentially made of decision-
makers (56% of the visitors are Top Managers, Heads of
Department or Managers).
Their presence strongly contributes to the knowledge
sharing between the different countries, and reinforces the
reputation of a show characterized by its innovations and by
the quality of the interactions between all the stakeholders.
JEC Europe remains the unequalled platform where
professionals from the whole chain of the composite
industry can meet. This annual event has established
itself as an obvious success thanks to the diversity of its
visitors.
JECs strategic position geared to end users is borne out
by the fact that one
out of two visitors is
a user of composite
solutions working in a
downstream sector of
activity (aerospace, automotive, construction, marine, ener-
gy, transport, sports & leisure, etc.).

journalists worldwide from the composites, trade, economic
and nancial press. These journalists are informed all year
long about JEC news, events, new publications, etc., giving
rise to several hundred articles each year.
JEC Europe is one of the few trade fairs to propose a press
service developed to this degree, with a dedicated team to
receive the growing numbers of journalists.
40 different press families were present this year, with
a majority of industrial publications. All of the user
sectors were represented by at least one or more news
publications:
automotive, aerospace, building & construction,
environment, marine, textile, land transport, energy, and
more.
The Events own press service gives exhibitors the
opportunity to submit their reports and press releases for
broader circulation of their news, and to announce their
press conferences and events at the Show all free of
charge. This service becomes more and more popular each
year.
The 2013 Show placed a special emphasis on the
