Call for Trainee

3DCG Creator Intensive Training in HCMC (3DCG09)

The 3DCG (Three Dimensional Computer Graphics) Creator training course in HCMC will be
held for August 31 to September 11, 2009. This two week program is a first 3DCG creator
class in HCMC by us, which has a new methodology of teaching, combining programming
aspect and graphics design aspect of the field. The course is designed as an intensive course
suitable to create new graphics industries in Viet Nam, and the base for future human
resource development for the field. The keywords for the course contents would be;
Three dimensional objects creation, media business, scientific visualization and
simulation, digital contents, interactive contents, animation, virtual world, computer
graphics and art, 3D image
Please register before the end of July. Experienced and advanced teaching staff will
come from Japan. The seat number is limited.

Professor Ida has many experiences in teaching OSS and IT in Vietnam, and is one of the
leading experts of the field.

Premium Agency is one of the leading companies in Japan for the field.
.Lecturers: Masayuki Ida and his team
.Number of the Trainees: 10 for Graphic design aiming visual artists, 10 for Programming
course, total 20. The applicants in visual art field would be people who are confident in their
2D art or design skills, but lack experience in3-d works. The applicants in programming
course would be people who have experience in C++, but have limited experience in terms of
3-d graphics and game programming.
.Fee: US$30 including the lecture text etc to cover the local arrangement costs

.Course overview: lectures in the morning (8AM to 1130AM) and group works in the afternoon
(130pm to 430pm), including the final presentation on the last day.
In the morning, the course will be separated into two groups for visual arts and
programming the arts. These lectures will cover all basic skills necessary for their respective
topics in terms of CG development. In the afternoon, trainee will participate in a series of
development group works, where they get the chance to apply what they learned in the
morning lecture, with guidance provided by the instructors.
For the afternoon group works, participants will be divided roughly into groups of 5, and
will work together to complete their group's independent simulation project from design to
finish. The students will present their results on the last day of the course. The contents at
the last presentations will be shared by the organizers and the participants for further use to
extend the experiences into real base.
The target of the first week is, for visual art course, acquiring modeling skill of the CG
bldg for real-time graphics using Blender and PA's Chidori engine, such as bldg, environment
modeling, and for programming course, acquiring programming skill of developing CG model
viewer using Blender and PA's Chidori engine, such as rendering 2D/3D graphics, lighting,
camera.
The target of the second week is, for visual art course, acquiring modeling/
animation/scene construction skill of the CG assets for Landscape simulation using PA's
Chidori engine. (bldg, vehicle), and for programming course, acquiring programming skill of
developing Landscape contents system using PA's Chidori engine. (landscape, collision mesh,
walkthrough)
The above targets may change a little bit after listening the local arrangement feedbacks.

.Requirements for the applications: Applicant MUST submit one of the following two, when
making application.
For Graphics design application: two dimensional art image solely created by the
applicant using GIMP. The print out and the GIMP file must be submitted.
For Programming application: Program source codes in C++ and the executable for
Windows or Linux to show the basic capability of programming language use. The size of the
source codes must be less than 5 pages. The program can use keyboard inputs and textual
display of some outputs. No disk file use for run time. Any types of software are fine, but the
judging committee prefers interesting programs which can be used as the base for extension
of the capability by using CG technology. No CG functionality is needed to include in the
submitted program.
