We made some yummy crisped rice cakes for Valentines Day in Nursery Class this week.

We all enjoyed mixing the marshmallows together with the crisped rice and jam and then we all got to use the special heart shaped cutter! We also made some beautiful cards to take home for someone special!

On Tuesday, Reception Class were very lucky to have a visit from a real architect! Romi's dad came in to show us one of his favourite books about homes all around the world. All of the homes were made of local, natural materials such as bamboo, cactus and even cow dung. The children were captivated by the beautiful pictures and hopefully will be inspired as they plan and design their own dream homes this week. They look forward to making them over half-term!

This week in Year 1 we finally finished our creative writing stories and they are fantastic. We had a really fun drama session where we went into space to collect space samples to bring back to earth, we spoke about Charles Darwin and how while on expeditions he would take samples, make observations and discover new species. The big news was the arrival of our alien babies! It was the most exciting thing ever. In PE we needed to get across the strange alien terrain and obstacles to rescue the King and Queen along the way we had different challenges such as freezing oceans and wobbly ground.

In Maths this week in Year 2/3 we have been looking at measurements. We made our own smoothie recipes and thought about the volume of each liquid we were using. We measured them out very carefully using measuring jugs. We had a great time and our smoothies were delicious.

This week, we switched the Stars of the Week reasons to ones where teachers had identified children for doing outstanding, miscellaneous things during the week. The focus of being extra friendly, kind to each other, inclusive and tolerant was reserved for our prize winners. This way, were all clear on why children receive certificates and why they receive prizes! The Musician of the Week goes to Aina in Year 1. She is working well and her behaviour and enthusiasm in every lesson is always excellent! She really enjoyed making up her own version of the traditional African echo song we were learning this week, coming up with creative ways of putting the actions and vocal parts together. Well done you!! The Artist of the Week goes to Yvie in Reception Class. Her dream home design shows great imagination and lovely touches that would make anyone want to live in it! Lovely work Yvie! Our staff have tidied up with help from the children have put everything back where it belongs for the next day, so wed be grateful if they collect things from their tray, their water bottles, their coats and bags then set off.
