COMPUTER SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY Specialization Stream: Network Management

DEC DIPLOMA OF COLLEGIAL STUDIES 420.AC


The program Computer Science Technology Network Management aims to train computer techniciens able to design, analyze ans troubleshoot computer networks using multiple technologies (platform). The network manager may be involved in all stages of creation of a network.

PROGRAM PROFILE
Graduates from this program will be called upon to get involved at critical stages of launching and administering local and extended networks, and to fulfill various functions involving system usage, network connections and computer hardware. The training targets computer network management and providing the programming basics that give you the versatility required by the job market. Youll be able to supervise the installation and maintenance of both hardware and software for intranets, including: Maintaining desktop computers and their peripherals. Installing and configuring Microsoft Windows or Linux workstations. Installing and configuring Microsoft Windows, NetWare and Linux servers. Analyzing and problem solving networks in a client/server environment. Administering resource management, and the interconnection and setup of Cisco network interconnection equipment.

General prerequisite: Have obtained a Secondary School Diploma (DES) or the equivalent. Specific prerequisite: Mathematics TS or SN5 (Math 526). Specific conditions: The student must be willing to purchase a personal computer or possess a personal computer before beginning the program.
