Meeting started: 17:09 Meeting adjourned: 19:18 Jo left: 17:24 Tiffany and Alex arrived: 18:03

In attendance: Iain, Kim, Lauren, Colvin, Mariam, Alex, Amy K, Amy H, Andrew, Tiffany, Craig and Jo Apologies received: Anna No apologies: Charles

Discussion points:
Review of last week:
Pub crawl was a really good start to the semester. There was a very decent turn out, with an increase in both new members and semester two exchange students. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was nice to see other bars outside the gay scene.

Action points:
Iain and Andrew to send Amy K their teams photos for the points to be added up and for the winning team to be announced.

Welfare drop in:

Andrew and Amy H ran a welfare drop in session during drop in lunch where someone came along to pick up some welfare supplies.

Campaigns:
Rectorship update:
Kim, Iain, Anna and Tiffany met up with GUSA for the first official campaign committee meeting which was a very successful and positive meeting. Kim and Stuart from GUSA are going to officially nominate Graeme at the senate court tomorrow, so from then the real campaigning can begin. We are still waiting to hear back from GUU and QMU about their involvement in the campaign.

Queerfest:
Workshops update:
We definitely have three workshops confirmed: The Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadow Cast; The Vegan society has expressed interested in working with us, and Lukes meditation workshop has been confirmed. Guava has still to get back to us concerning their workshop the committee discussed that we would love to see a tie dye T-shirt workshop. The committee approached the Cheerleading society to see if they would run an ultra-fun cheerleading workshop with/for us, they have yet to reply. It was also discussed that we could get the Red Cross Society involved in some sort of first aid workshop. Colvin contacted Encore theatre society about writing a play for us , they have yet to get back, however, he has a contact he can email to see if they would be willing to do it. Andrew suggested that we invite Gay Mens Health along and see if they could run a sort of drop in clinic type thing in one of the smaller rooms throughout the day time events. Andrew emailed Jo Russell about doing a talk, she has emailed back asking for finer details about what we want to hear/what people will be there etc. We are also awaiting confirmation from Lock Up Your Daughters film company.

Amy K and Amy H are to go and seek Guava tomorrow and see if they want to work with us this year. Amy H to re-email them to check their want/availability ACTION FOR ALL: Think of an alternate dancing workshop in case cheerleading falls through.

Colvin to contact his friend about doing something theatre related with us, and he will keep trying to find the contact for the drag workshop idea.

Andrew to forward to email to Kim, so together they can construct an answer and reply back to her about what we expect from her.

Publicity:
We need to go publicity mad for Queerfest it needs to be everywhere and it needs to be huge! In order for this to happen, we need to flyer whenever we can, at every event. Polo will produce a flyer for us and PR in the street for us.

Change the Facebook page cover photo to the Queerfest Logo ASAP. Make the Facebook event this Thursday Advertise for Queerfest volunteers. Send polo a mock-up of what needs to go on the flyer Flyer in the GUU and use our poster boards more.

Theme:
Over the past few days the committee have been discussing what we would like the theme of Queerfest to be: Eighties, Twenties, Sports, and Mardi Gras etc. We brought these down to a final two options sport and eighties. Sport would

have worked as we could play pop music, simple sports costume, however may cause problems as people may dress up in football colours, and people expressed that fact that they do not want to go to polo in trackies. Eighties was then discussed, 80s music and outrageous costume, simple enough to find and do, decorations would be simpler and easier to distinguish. We took it to a vote: Eighties 10 votes, sport 1 vote. So our theme is eighties.

Night-time event:
We need to find two acts to perform at night. One of these definitely needs to be 80s themed. Kim has a DJ in mind

that would play a set for us at the start and end of the night. We also discussed the idea of have a small ceilidh half way through the night between the acts to get people up dancing and involved in the actual night. Budget:
Lauren wants to wait to see if any of the workshops want to be paid before she starts allocating decoration budgets and such.

Kim to email Kirsty from polo to see if she can recommend any acts for us. ACTION FOR ALL: Think of a night-time act you would like to see.

Venue: GUU is provisionally booked, just need to get this confirmed after reaffiliation.

Future Events:
Pub Quiz: Venue: The Dram hosts their
own pub quiz on a Wednesday night, so we need to find another venue and fast. Halt was suggested but it would probably be too small. ACTION FOR ALL: Post on Facebook tonight any bars they think would be suitable Action for someone: provisionally book/check if QMU would be free on Wednesday just in case. Andrew write LGBT people round Iain write the shout out and the catchphrase round Craig write the Glasgow round ACTION FOR ALL: Come up with an interesting fact about yourself Action for someone: Buy toilet paper for

Structure: We plan to mix it up a bit and keep the rounds interesting and a more interactive quiz. Round breakdown and who is responsible for them: LGBT people Andrew; Shout out riddle round Iain; Committee member round ALL;

Glasgow round Craig; Catchphrase picture round Iain; Toilet paper mummy round; 60 second round, and Pan and sling mystery round. 6 questions per round.

the mummy round Amy K and Kim: Bring in pots for the mystery round Action for someone: Source and bring rope for the mystery round. Action for someone: Overall host for the night, score keeper, compare.

Week 3:
Was meant to be the roller disco but it was decided that we can push that back and give it more time to sell tickets etc. To replace this, Kim has contacted Luke and Jacks to see if they would host one of their BYOB parties. Amy H has a womens event this week, she was planning her self-defence class, but the woman never got back to her, so she is planning laser tag, which will be very popular with our members Tuesday 28th January. The Sandyford visit also falls in this week, and Amy H has offered to go along with Andrew. Wait for confirmation from Luke and Jacks Amy H to book and organise her womens event and send Lauren her blurb for that for the weekly email on Thursday.

Religious panel:
Week 4s main event. Vicky Gunn is confirmed. Amy K emailed a list of religious figures in the area and is waiting to hear back from them regarding availability. We will also host our cheese and wine night on this night. ACTION FOR EXEC: Book the Williams room. Amy K post a list of the people you have contacted already.

Empty Space:
Fill with the roller disco, this will give us plenty of time to sell tickets and publicise and organise properly. Viper was suggested as a possible space, but Amy K has said it is doubtful due to the stairs and the equipment required. The committee suggested AXM as an alternative this could possible work due to the presence of a mysterious lift, or the minimal stairs once inside.

Iain and Kim to ask Scott on Friday whether this would be possible.

Mens event:
The mens officer was not at the meeting again. We need to start getting this sorted as it is coming up soon. This should be the welfare event, but if Charlie hasnt planned anything/cant make it, then it will be another social,

Amy K and Iain to contact Charles to see where he is, and where he is with his event planning.

and the welfare will happen later in the semester.

Website:
What still has to be done/progress update: People need to send Mariam
what they have done. The website is live, with a load of information on it, and in our opinion looks fantastic! Very pleased with it. Colvin and Mariam to re-write to Q+ section for the website. It was suggested that they write a short introduction and then get testimonials from people about what Queer means to them, because its a very contentious issue for one person to try and define. Kim to write the introduction and get the remainder of the hon. Members bios and pictures.

AOB:
An ordinary member Jo opened the meeting with a request/a proposal for us: he wants to set up a kind of voluntary Liberation library somewhere in the university, like one he saw in Edinburgh University. A library that focusses its books on diversity topics. We all felt that this would be a very useful resource to have on campus and would love to get involved. GUU: We will be having a meeting with GUU in the next week hopefully to talk about re-affiliation and how we can help each other: Amy K, Andrew, Kim and Colvin to go along to that meeting. Stall: we have been allocated a stall at a prospective student fair on the 29th January.
He needs us to circulate this to our members and see if this is something they would like to see on Campus, and if they have any books they can donate/suggest to go in it. We will keep in touch with Jo in the next few weeks to see how he is getting on and whether we can help at all Pop this in Week 4/5 newsletter, this gives Jo enough time to set it up, and gives us time to get Queerfest and some busy events out of the way.

Kim to post on the Facebook page to check peoples availability and to confirm times and numbers required.
