The Anointing to Excel

Acts 10:38 KJV How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

The life of our Lord Jesus Christ on earth was beyond comparison. No one has lived like to the max like Jesus Christ did. Two thousand years later, Jesus is still the central issue. What distinguished Him? Our text says God anointed Him with the Holy Ghost and with power. Lets look at three areas in which Jesus excelled. 1. Jesus started well. He was anointed so He started well. How you start a thing determines its success. In my years as a pastor, I have seen people cross over into a New Year many times but nothing crosses over in their lives simply because the year changes but they dont change. For example, in the old year, they attended Church only on Sundays. The New Year starts and they still come only on Sundays. In the Bible, the people who got results from God, ensured they were in Church every time the doors were opened (see Acts 3:1-8). The way you start something determines how it will end. This New Year, we all have a great opportunity to start well so that we can finish well. Jesus started well; he started making impact from childhood. Luke 2:42-47*. At twelve, Jesus was already engaging with the learned men in the temple. I pray that God will anoint you with the same Spirit that was upon our Lord Jesus, so that you will always start and finish well in Jesus name! 2. Jesus didnt just start well, He kept on making unhindered progress. Acts 10:38 says Jesus went about doing good. He kept excelling in all pursuits of life. Everywhere He went, doors opened to Him and help came for Him. People opened their homes to Him joyfully. In Luke 19 2 10, we see the story of Zaccheaus. Zaccheaus was a vile sinner, hated by many people for his shady tax collection practice. But when he saw Jesus, he opened his home to Jesus and received Him joyfully. There was something about Jesus that was irresistible. There is an aura, a grace that comes upon a man and makes him irresistible. It makes mountains become plains before you and doors open for you. In the years

that I have lived, I have seen two broad categories of people. I have seen people for whom life is a victory walk. A certain grace upon their lives makes things work for them. On the other hand, I have also seen people for whom life is a rock and a hard place. Even when they get into a situation where everything was working, things turn for the worse. For Jesus, it was victory all the way. This year, the same grace Jesus enjoyed will make every storm to cease in your life in Jesus name! 3. Lastly, Jesus recorded landmark achievements. Its one thing to make progress in life, it is another thing to do exploits and leave your footprints in the sands of time. This is something about Jesus that those who are His own must partake of. Jesus Christ didnt do small things. In Acts 10:38, the Bible says Jesus went about healing all those who were oppressed by the devil, not running away from Satan. I pray that this year, God will give you the grace to record landmark achievements in life in Jesus name! What was the secret of Jesus? His secret was that He was anointed to excel from the womb. (Luke 1:26). Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost at conception. Thats why His life was like that and He is our model and standard. Many of us wonder why life does not deliver to us the results we see in other people. Some of us know that while Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost, we were anointed with charms and incisions at birth. The Bible talks about the man who was laid daily at the Beautiful Gate. He was lame from his mothers womb. Some people had people prophesying great things over them from the womb, while others were being cursed from the womb. No matter how you started, you can have a fresh start from today. God says if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation. Jesus said, anyone born of the Spirit will be unstoppable in life. You can become unstoppable like Jesus today. All you have to do is to ask Jesus to be the Captain of your life, your Lord and Saviour. Then you can ask God to baptize you with the same Holy Spirit and power as Jesus. As long as you keep walking in the ways of God, His anointing will ensure that you are victorious in every area of your life.
