THE GRADUATE APPLICATION CHECKLIST

To be considered for admission, you must submit the following completed forms and documents:
Completed application form, typed or printed neatly (Form 1) Application fee of $50 or LE 295 (non-refundable) Not required from applicants to the African Graduate Fellowship. If you are applying through Cairo, send an international money order or certied check in U.S. dollars. Applicants through the New York Ofce may use checks drawn on a U.S. bank. Please note that AUC does not accept cash sent by mail. Statement of Purpose (Form 2): Journalism and mass communication as well as television and digital journalism applicants must submit published/ broadcast work and writing samples. Psychology as well as forced migration and refugee studies applicants should include experience with, and interest in, working with diverse or marginalized populations. Teaching English as a foreign language, teaching Arabic as a foreign language, Master of Laws in international and comparative law (LLM), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Global Affairs (MGA) and Master of Arts in international and comparative education applicants should include information about their professional and/or teaching experience (Attach certicates, if any). PhD applicants must submit research interests and objectives, as well as a Master of Science thesis abstract. All applicants are required to submit a rsum. Ofcial transcripts from all higher education institutions that you have attended These should be sent directly to you and afxed with a seal. Transcripts must be submitted by applicants with their complete application.Transcripts will only be accepted if they bear an ofcial seal and are in sealed envelopes. Photocopies or unofcial transcripts will be accepted for evaluation purposes only. Final ofcial transcripts with proof of graduation must be submitted upon admission and before registering for courses. Letters of recommendation (Forms 3a and 3b) All applicants are required to submit a minimum of two letters of recommendation. PhD applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation. Required test results Applicants are required to demonstrate knowledge of English sufcient for graduate studies at AUC. This is done by taking international TOEFL or academic IELTS offered at numerous locations around the world. Graduate applicants who hold degrees from an accredited English-language-only university may be exempted from presenting evidence of academic English prociency, unless they are applying for the African Graduate Fellowship, whereby English test results must be provided. Some programs request higher scores; please refer to the attached required minimum scores. Applicants to the MBA program must have an ofcial GMAT score report sent to the University. Applicants to the PhD program, masters in economics, masters in economics in international development, and masters in journalism and mass communication must submit an acceptable ofcial GRE score report or have it sent directly to the University. Applicants to the Master of Science in nance must submit either an acceptable ofcial GMAT or GRE score report, or have it sent directly to the University. *A Writing score 6.5 or 6 will be placed in ENGL 123. A Reading score less than 6.5 will be placed in ENGL 124. A Listening or Speaking score less than 6.5 will be placed in ENGL 125. IELTS Placement is based on achieving the cut-off level score/band and the writing score/band. If one score is lower, placement is based on the lower score.

GMAT and GRE Tests


The MBA program requires an acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The department currently considers applicants who score 550 and above. The PhD, economics, economics in international development and journalism and mass communication programs require an acceptable score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The Master of Science in nance requires an acceptable score on either the GMAT or GRE.
