System Preferences
- General o Customize appearance / scroll bar (in case you want it to stop disappearing on you) / safe closing options for apps / recent items in Apple Menu - Desktop / Screen saver o Change background and screen saver o Choose how long until screen saver appears when computer is idle - Dock o Icon size o Icon magnification o Position of dock o Options - Security & Privacy o General ! Change password ! Require password entry after sleep mode (choose how long after display goes to sleep until password is required) ! Software download restrictions If downloaded apps are not approved for download you can still [control" + click] on the .dmg (application file) and choose Open to continue with download o FileVault (not recommended unless you have highly classified / sensitive / restricted information on your computer) ! This is what it says under the FileVault tab:

WARNING: You will need your login password or a recovery key to access your data. A recovery key is automatically generated as part of this setup. If you forget both your password and recovery key,

so yeah, you might want to think about how restricted you need your computer
