Tom Mullane outside the old Ballan Jockey Club rooms at the racecourse reserve. INSET: A Tiger wool bale and hay on the old farm ute. BALLANS tireless Tiger has been remembered for his faith, community and love of the land. Thomas Joseph Tiger Mullane passed away on February 7 at the Ballan Hostel after an active 89-years that spanned football, faith, farming, family, committees, Local Government and more. More than 700 people attended his funeral last Wednesday (Feb 12) and students from St Brigids stopped to remember the former 1930 pupil who worked hard to rebuild their school after a devastating re. Tom Mullane was born to Thomas and Mary on 2 May 1924 at Westcott hospital in Inglis St - just 300m from where he died. Westcott is now a private home and served as a plant nursery in the early 2000s. Tom grew up as one of nine children on the Bradshaw farm where his Great-Grandfather rst settled in the 1800s. In 1930 he joined the bubs class in the original St Brigids School, which at that time met in an 1856 converted timber church. With a Merit Certicate under his arm in 1937 he went to work in the local greengrocers and later on the farm. He married Margaret in 1954 and together they had eight children: Michael, Barb, Clare, Margie, Peter, Colin, Annemaree and Mary Ellen (dec). Son Mick said as a dad, Tom was natures gentleman. Nothing ustered him, he said. He would say words like bloomin but never swore in his life. In 1956, at the age of 32 he played his nal game for Ballan football club the Bacchus Marsh District Football League Grand Final win against Darley, where he was named Best on Ground. Mick said he went on to serve ve terms as club President, and was also a keen tennis player and cricketer. Two sports-related buildings have been named in his honour: the Tom Mullane Sporting Complex at Ballan Recreation Reserve and the TJ Mullane building at the racecourse next to the farm. Tom was also active in countless community groups including church, school and hall committees. (cont pg 7)

News
By Jessica Howard In 1951, John Leeding of Ballan walked into a caf to buy a malted milk and walked out having met the love of his life. Lenore (Gilbert) Leeding was 18-years-old at the time and worked as a waitress at the May Fare Caf (now known as XIUs Caf), Mr Leeding says he went into the caf to buy his favourite drink and thats when he met his wife-to-be. After that I used to go in there everyday, Mr Leeding said. John and Lenore then married three years later on February 6, 1954 and have remained so, for the past 60 years. Married at the Wesley Church in Ballarat, the Leedings shared three children, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr and Mrs Leeding moved into their Atkinson Street house in Ballan in 1951 and have lived there together up until late 2013, when Mrs Leeding was moved to the Ballan Aged Care Hostel due to her struggle with dementia. Approximately 40 people attended the celebration on the day of the Leedings anniversary, to help celebrate six decades of marriage. It was a very nice turn out, some people we hadnt seen since they were so high, Mr Leeding said. After that, we had a BBQ at the house on the Sunday where I cooked for about seven people. Mr Leeding rides his motorised scooter up to the hostel twice a day to visit his beloved wife and cooks for her every Sunday at their home. Every time I go for a visit she asks me if I can stop a little bit longer, but I have to get home before dark, so on Sundays I cook for her, Mr Leeding said. This week will be a leg of lamb with mint sauce. Mr Leeding said the key to a long and happy relationship was simple, We get along well, weve never had a blue, he said. The Leedings received various letters from the Queen, Catherine King, Tony Abbott and the Governor of Victoria congratulating them on their milestone. Mr Leeding plans to frame the letters and hang them on the wall with pictures of himself and Lenore, and their family.

The seed for Grandpas Tomatoes has been passed down through the generations of our family. We draw on over 75 years of horticultural experience to grow delicious, flavoursome and gourmet Grandpas Tomatoes. We only hand-pick them if they are plump and heavy for their size (density is a good indicator of flavour), making sure they have a firm, shiny skin. We then pass them through an aroma test the tomato should have a slight, crisp aroma which increases with ripeness. The tomato should also yield slightly to the touch, to guarantee taste.

Councillors on notice
By Kate Taylor Moorabool Shire Council CEO Rob Croxford has welcomed proposed new powers for the Local Government Inspectorate to examine serious misconduct by councillors and hand down tougher penalties. Minister for Local Government Jeanette Powell, who recently announced that she will not contest this years state election, said the reforms are part of a suite of vital improvements to governance and conduct arrangements designed to improve the standing of local government. These new and stronger powers for the Inspectorate send a clear message to current and future councillors that they must be beyond reproach when representing their communities, she said. Under the proposed reforms, the Chief Municipal Inspector will have expanded power to investigate and prosecute breaches of conduct in the Local Government Act 1989. The new powers also include two new offences relating to breach of condentiality and improper direction of council staff - it is proposed that both these offences will carry penalties of up to 120 penalty units or $17,323. The Inspectorate will have the power to investigate alleged instances of serious misconduct by a councillor and to initiate prosecutions for both serious and gross misconduct. The inspectorate currently has the power to investigate breaches of the act including misuse of position by a councillor, failure by a councillor to declare conicts of interest, and failure by a councillor to lodge pecuniary interest returns. The proposed reforms also give greater scope to prosecute and penalise improper direction or inuence by a councillor to a member of council staff, and release of condential information by a councillor. Mr Croxford responded favourably to the proposals. I welcome changes that continue to guide and strengthen the governance aspects of local government in Victoria, he said. The new legislation is expected to be introduced into Parliament in the rst half of this year.

Bacchus Marsh VC winner - Rupert Vance Moon - by Joe Zappulla

Battle for war art

MOORABOOL MAYOR Paul Tatchell is pushing for the shire to be one of the rst places to exhibit paintings showing some of Australias bravest men. Joe Zappulla also known as Artist Zapp - has depicted a long list of Victoria Cross winners including Captain Rupert Vance Moon who has a tree in the Bacchus Marsh Avenue of Honour. They are amazing paintings magnicent and Im going to advocate that they are shown in Moorabool, Cr Tatchell said. Hopefully we can have an exhibition in Bacchus Marsh and another in Ballan. Each huge image shows a portrait of the medal winner against other images showing the context and story of their medal-winning bravery. He is taking this show around the state and 40 per cent of the takings go to charity, Cr Tatchell said. This is such a good thing. This artist is showing us art, history and national pride all at the same time. His artwork is a real emotional journey. The artist said he was in tears while trying to paint some of these images. I think we need to remind people and kids of these things. He said if the exhibition was able to come to Moorabool, he would request that it spend at least three days in each town possibly at their main community halls. Paintings of Australias 99 VC winners are expected to hit the road from May onwards. The 100th winner Corporal Cameron Baird was announced on Thursday after he died during a daring raid in Afghanistan. It is not known if his image will be represented.

Anger over park consultation

THE FORMER HEAD of one of Moorabools biggest and oldest parks has slammed Moorabool Council for attempting to abolish volunteer committees of management. Marg Scarff chaired the Maddingley Park committee until December and said she felt misled by plans to help her committee as well as others managing Darley Park, Masons Lane reserve and the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve. I am appalled at the lack of genuine consultation, she said. At the December meeting facilitated by council and attended by about 50 people from East Moorabool committees, many concerns were recorded mainly complaints about committees not getting a sense of progress due to lack of Council support and resourcing. I was advised that the consultation process would take as long as a year, and those present at the meeting were advised that they would be invited to a second meeting to be told what the general feedback had been from the two groups, and where to from here. There was no follow up meeting and the agenda item recommending these committees be abolished demonstrated that Council knew what it wanted and wasnt willing to complete the consultation process. Councillors were presented with a staff recommendation at their February 5 meeting to abolish the committees and replace them with a 6-person umbrella advisory group, but the issue has been deferred until a later meeting. Council has used the negative feedback to justify abolishing committees, rather than seeing that the problems recorded by volunteers were as a result of Councils lack of resourcing and support, Ms Scarff said. I reported at the consultation meeting that of the top-10 priorities listed on the parks master plan only one had been delivered since 2002. This project was a high fence along Taverner Street designed to stop cricket balls going onto the road. She said most urgent priorities included: ** Irrigation for dying plants and trees, ** The upgrade of electrical infrastructure which was at its limit; and ** The removal of a cypress hedge along Station Street and its replacement with a high wire fence and new plantings. I cant see how the suggested new Advisory Committees will progress these or any other projects. There are increasing demands on Council to maintain and develop reserves and not enough money allocated to their maintenance and development. People tell me how disappointed they are with the state of Maddingley Park. What they dont realise is that the parks passive area received no funding from council for improvements but that the committee had to raise funds through donations and by applying for grants. She said the Adventure Playground was built and maintained by Bacchus Marsh Lions Club, while the bulk of money allocated to the park was spent on maintenance of football and cricket facilities, toilets, mowing and emptying bins. An unspecied amount is also spent on cleaning grafti and vandalism. Ms Scarff resigned from the Maddingley Park committee in December. Her husband died after a long illness in January. She stood for council in 2008 and has a background in womens health and advocacy.

Response from Mayor

MOORABOOL MAYOR Paul Tatchell said Council had spent $270,000 on recurrent costs at Maddingley Park in the last three years, but a large amount had also been spent on capital projects. Much of this was for sports facilities. He said he requested a recent report from council officers and capital costs had included cricket nets and protective fencing for cricket balls, new tennis court surfaces, a netball shelter, new multipurpose courts for netball and tennis, refurbishment of changerooms and kiosk, a shelter in the Taverner St area known as Siberia, irrigation for Siberia, irrigation for the main oval, restoration of entry gates and the ovals picket fences, realignment of pathways and surface treatment, relocation of scoreboards, an electronic scoreboard, toilet upgrades, barbecues and a new playground. When asked how recently these had occurred, Cr Tatchell said the report from officers was recent and he believed within the last five years. Cr Tatchell also listed several less tangible projects Council had paid for. These included the development of a landscape plan, and pre-planning on a new carpark, as well as a health and fitness circuit, More than $250,000 has been obtained to support Maddingley Park plus external funding from grants and other levels of Government, he said. A Master Plan was completed in 2001 and a new one in 2009. Most people Ive spoken to are happy with the new proposed advisory committee system. We have three committees in East Moorabool that dont have a chairperson and a few committees have had no new members join up for a few years.

Educating our future leaders

By Kate Taylor Moorabool has a new Mayor. Though only elected to the post for one day, Grade Six student Thomas Stoians classmates at Myrniong Primary School decided that he was the man for the job. I thank Mr Mayor, my mum and dad. My teacher for swaying me into politics, my class and fate! he said upon donning the Mayoral robes following his election. The coup was staged during a visit to the school by the Shires more ofcial Mayor, Paul Tatchell a visit that was inspired by 12 year old Thomas having attended a council meeting the previous week. At the meeting, young Thomas used public question time to ask what council is doing about crime prevention in Moorabool. It was satisfactory, Thomas said of the answers the councillors provided on the night. Mayor Tatchell then decided to visit primary schools in Moorabool to speak about council, democracy, and the role of Mayor. He faced questions posed by Myrniong students, including Is there a lot of pressure when there is an election? and sometimes there is a small house on some land, and then there are ve houses in a small paddock, how does that work? Mayors are just people, prime ministers are just people. Anyone in this room could be the next Mayor, Premier or Prime Minister, newly ousted Mayor Tatchell told the class. Last year, Myrniongs Grade Five class undertook a project to design the town of Myrniong the way they would like to see it in 20 years time a project which switched Thomas interests from the police service, to politics. Im quite interested in local council and politics, he said. The class designed the town with a budget, taking into account infrastructure requirements and service provision and with his extensive resources including statistical information that he brought in, Thomas was elected CEO of the council. I was the CEO on the council, and I did the police department. I basically built a building, the police ofce, and it all went together because we had to build roads and we did it to scale. Believe me, it wasnt exactly easy. The class also decided that Myrniong needed a railway track but found that the only viable route was through a hill, and so a Paper-Mache mountain with a tunnel through it was built to scale. I found that the class learnt a lot about being grown up, really, Thomas said. Teacher Mrs Lacy had Thomas in her Grade Five class last year for the project, and was also in on the Mayors visit which she said truly beneted the students. He got down on the oor with them, and he said to the kids that as a group they need to come together and think about what they would like to see in the community and hell see what he can do, even a couple of years down the track in the future. The kids were asking lots and lots of questions and he was just very down to earth and listened to what the kids had to say. It really encourages more awareness of politics in the community.

Council ditches Family Day Care

MOORABOOL COUNCIL will dump its Family Day Care service on June 30. The shock decision was made behind closed doors at the end of the February 5 Council meeting under section 89 of the Local Government Act. Mayor Paul Tatchell said the vote involved the loss of a service that employed four people and was of a personal nature involving job contracts. It was discussed in condence to protect those employees, he said. How would they feel if they heard it in the media the next morning? A council media release dated February 7 was emailed late on the afternoon of Monday February 10 beyond the time both of the shires community newspapers go to print. As of February 15 it had not been posted with other media releases on the Council website. The only hint of the closure was an obscure decision at the end of the minutes, which were posted two days after the meeting: That Council ofcers develop a communication strategy and that the Chief Executive be authorised to implement the strategy to inform staff, educators, families and relevant unions about the changes to the family day care service. Cr Tatchell said the decision was a tough call. We are competing against private enterprise and at present we have enough Family Day Care to pick up the slack and cater for the needs of people in the shire, he said. It was running at an extraordinary loss about $300,000 a year (1 per cent of rate revenue) and I would like to spend that on something else. We also could not get enough educators. I dont even know why they call them educators. Its childcare. Why would you want to compete against things in the private sector using ratepayers money to prop it up? Cr Tatchell said no other Council departments were on the chopping block at this stage, but Moorabool was working with neighbouring councils to share services, rather than triplicate. This is all pretty logical stuff. We have got to have efciencies. Chief Executive Rob Croxford said Moorabool was working with families and educators contracted to Council to nd new Family Day Care services by June 30. He said other Council childrens services would not be affected and Councilrun occasional care at the Lerderderg Childrens Centre would continue.

By Kate Taylor Yendon will soon have a new community space thanks to the help of $31,300 funding from the state government as well as $30,000 from Moorabool Shire Council. The state government money, from the Regional Growth Fund, will be used in combination with the funding from council and $3050 made up of cash and in-kind contributions to be provided by the local community. The project will see the Yendon Community Centre renovated and expanded, an electric barbecue with shelter built, table and seating, and the construction of an awning to link the new building with the old to promote social functions and community events. A basket swing will also be installed that can be used by children with a disability which is important for social inclusion because there is no play equipment for children with a disability between Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh. Moorabool Shire Council CEO Rob Croxford attended the announcement last Friday 7 February at the Yendon Centre, along with General manager of Community Services Danny Colgan, Mayor Paul Tatchell and West Ward Councillor Tom Sullivan, as well as members of the Yendon community. Speaking on the day, Mr Ramsay told the crowd that instead of putting out a media release about the funding, it was important to him to attend to celebrate and acknowledge the local community and its efforts.

Dux of school
By Kate Taylor Returning to her home town to teach high school could be on the cards in the future for Bacchus Marsh Grammars highest scoring VCE student from last year. Aleisha Clark was named Dux of the school in 2013 after she earned herself an Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking of 99.5 per cent, out of a possible 99.95 per cent, putting her among the best in the state. She excelled in her subjects of English, maths methods, chemistry, psychology and legal studies, having already done biology the previous year but Aleisha still wasnt expecting such a high score. Not really no, it was a bit of a shock. The high score did change her plans slightly Aleisha knew she wanted to do a Bachelor of Arts degree, possibly at the University of Melbourne, but found herself accepted into the Deans Scholars Program at Monash University. So I decided to do that instead, and classes start in March. At the end of her degree, Aleisha says she is maybe hoping to become a high school teacher but with no specic subjects in mind yet. Im not sure at the moment but Im thinking I might like to be a high school teacher eventually I think Id like to teach everything really. Returning to Bacchus Marsh to teach is also an option. Maybe, Ill see what happens.

New outdoor seating and a barbeque are just two items on the wish list for improved facilities at the Yendon recreation reserve. Funding was announced by Simon Ramsay (seated) along with Moorabool West Councillor Tom Sullivan and Rec. Reserve Chairperson Mark Filmer. Photo - Helen Tatchell These grants are all about assisting the community to provide better facilities. This exciting project will improve opportunities for local families and visitors to the area to participate in events and connect with one another, Mr Ramsay later said. The centre is the only community facility in Yendon and it is used by many community groups including Yendon History Group, the Red Cross and the Reserve Committee of Management for community meetings. Councillor Sullivan said the funding shows a commitment to small communities. The Yendon community must be commended for their preparation of the masterplan. This is a great outcome, and it is an investment in the future of this community, as all these smaller communities have a future. Yendon Recreation reserve chairperson Mark Filmer said that when he joined the committee, he wanted to see something happen. This is an investment in our community and Kay Paton has done an enormous amount of work, especially writing up the grants! Mayor Tatchell said the upgrade to the reserve is long overdue. I have played tennis here and one afternoon around ten years ago, Hugh Ryan rolled up on his farm postie bike with the kettle on the back, and with the milk in a coffee jar.

Seat waits on policy Bulldogs take a class

RED TAPE is hampering a plan to remember former Bacchus Marsh Grammar student Sarah Cafferkey. The school she attended from 2003-07 has donated $500 for a seat next to a prominent memorial in Maddingley Park, but the committee of management has said it cannot install the seat until Moorabool Council adopts a policy for park memorials. Ms Cafferkey, 22, was murdered in November 2012, sparking a national campaign against early parole for convicted killers and prompting an appeal which has raised more than $10,000 for youth services at Djerriwarrh Health. Marg Scarff headed the Maddingley Park Committee of Management President until a month ago but said the seat had been on the cards for several months. Sarahs mother visits the site regularly and when I was chairperson I mentioned that I noticed her sitting on the ground and suggested we move a seat there for her, she said. Thats when the offer came from the Grammar to purchase one and place a small plaque on the seat saying it was donated by the school. Yet Council told me that the Committee of Management couldnt go ahead with the purchase and installation until a policy is in place for memorials in the park. Ms Scarff said more seats were needed across MadAFL clubs are well into their pre-season training, and just to break it up before the start of the season, clubs are sending out players to interact with school students. The Bacchus Marsh College welcomed three players, Will Minson, Mark Austin and Daniel Pearce, from the Western Bulldogs, formerly Footscray, last week with the Year 7 students participating in skills workshops and activities. College Publicity Assistant Elissa Spence said the workshops and activities were run by the schools Year 12 VET students.

Crime and mystery top choice

By Jessica Howard Moorabool Shire residents have proven to love a bit of mystery, with 8 out of the 2013 top 10 most borrowed books from the local library chosen from the mystery and crime sections. Library Services Co-ordinator Dale Johnston says the list really reects the popularity of mystery with Lee Childs bestselling Jack Reacher series featuring three times. Harlan Coben made the list with his two thriller novels Stay Close and Caught, whilst only one childrens book made the top 10 list with Michael Rosens Were Going on a Bear Hunt. Take a look at the top ten most borrowed books from Moorabool Shire Libraries for 2013.

dingley Park and this had also been identied in a 2002 Master Plan. She said a member of the Friends of Maddingley Park had now taken on responsibility for the purchase and installation of the seats. Ms Scarff has publicly advocated for improved lighting at night and other female friendly town planning issues since the history of Ms Cafferkeys killer was revealed. Meanwhile, Bacchus Marsh Grammar said it would not comment on the seat donation at this stage,

but in a November 2012 newsletter, Principal Andrew Neal said Ms Cafferkey was a delightful young student with a bright and vibrant personality. She was a positive presence in the life of the school, he wrote. In particular, she was active in her school house Pentland and showed promise as a junior athlete. We will remember Sarah as a happy and friendly young woman that she was. Ms Cafferkey spent her primary years at Coimadai.

More than a chook rafe!

By Jessica Howard The Footscray and District Poultry Club will hold its annual Helmsman Poultry Auction this Sunday at the Bacchus Marsh Poultry Pavilion Harness Track. The Helmsman Auction is held twice a year in February and October, and is the main fundraising event for the club, which aids in the development of the Poultry Pavilion. Auction Convener and Publicity Ofcer Kerry Pavey says that the club has helped to develop the old shed into one of the best Poultry Pavilions in Victoria. Although we are the Footscray and District Poultry Club, we have made Bacchus Marsh our home since 2004, Kerry said. The poultry sale combines the best features of both the auction system and sale by private treaty. People say that the Helmsman system is buyer friendly because it helps them get better value for money, Kerry says. The not-for-prot association hires the pens on the day, for a small fee paid by sellers, to allow the public to speak to, and purchase stock directly from the

breeder. There is no middle man or commission which is a win/win situation for both Vendor and Bidder. The buyer knows where and from whom the birds have come and can make contact for further interaction. The auction starts at 11am on Sunday 23 February, with nal bid commencing at 12:30pm. Layers, pets and breeding poultry are on offer with a small buyers register fee of $2.00 Club meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month at 2.00pm at the clubrooms.

Sonia to fight tooth and nail

By Jessica Howard A lawyer and sheep farmer from Navigators will run as the Nationals candidate for Buninyong at the 2014 Victoria State Election. Sonia Smith practices law in Ballarat and runs a small farm with her husband in Navigators. Sonia says she is standing for the new seat of Buninyong because she would like to see the potential of the region unlocked. It is an honour to stand as the candidate in Buninyong and I do so aware of the rich and diverse cultural history embodied in our community, she said. Buninyong is a large and important region which includes the existing Ballarat East electorate plus new growth areas such as Sebastopol. My ambition is to see the electorate become a world class region and I will seek out the opportunities that exist to promote the investment, job growth and business development this community needs and forward, Mr Walsh said. deserves. Dear Editor, There are two articles in the October 2013 edition of the Medical Journal of Australia, one entitled Public health implications of sleep loss: the community burden and the other Sleep loss and sleep disturbance. Both cover many different aspects of the effects of sleep deprivation on the human body; the previous Labor Government identied the effects of sleep deprivation on the populations health and productivity as being among the most important challenges facing Australia. Despite the propaganda spread by proponents and their supporters of wind farms that there are no health problems experienced by people being forced to live too close to turbines, the truth is that many people have been unable to stay in their homes because of constant exposure to noise. As a health professional I am well aware of the importance a good nights sleep to the health and well being of us all, a right which we are all entitled to and which cannot be overemphasised. The health cost to the neighbours of the wind turbines is far too great to be ignored. By proper community consultation and sensible siting of turbines well away from rural residents dwellings, all of this controversy could have been avoided. The ball now seems to be in the Moorabool Shire Councils court and they need to demonstrate that they are not lacking in a duty of care to their potentially affected ratepayers. Held weekly at The Laurels, the Bacchus Marsh Community College in Main St, the Weight Watchers sessions are an opportunity to lose weight and enjoy a healthier lifestyle according to Group Leader Lyn Foster. Having started late last year, the Weight Watchers Program is helping local residents to shed kilos, get active and build a healthier lifestyle. The members have had fantastic success and have lost over 200kg since September through to December, said Ms Foster, who lost 20kg herself through the program. I can honestly say that losing weight is one of the best and most rewarding things that I have ever done. I now have more self condence, feel happier and more importantly, healthier and am really looking forward to helping others change their lives as well. The Weight Watchers program will help anyone with either a large amount of weight to lose or those last few kilos that wont budge! I dont have a magic wand but what I have is a never ending supply of encouragement, support and enthusiasm to offer, all spiced up with a sprinkling of fun. Already in 2014, the group has shed another 50 kilograms.

Some members of the local weight loss group that have shed over 200kg.

Enzo Raimondo CEO, REIV

Interest rates
Despite all the optimism which accompanied the growth in Melbourne house prices late last year, there have been signs that the market may slow in 2014. So it was good news that the Reserve Bank maintained interest rates at their record low, as announced earlier this month. Low interest rates mean smaller mortgage repayments and give buyers, especially those entering the market for the rst time, the chance to get a foot on the property ladder without the stress of nancial struggle. Though regional house prices show healthy growth in some parts of the state there are still many affordable areas and the interest rate stability will support condence in home buyers and investors. As the year gets under way, buyers can house-hunt with greater certainty, with rates in their seventh month at the current level. While the past year was about housing market recovery, which the REIV expects to continue in the rst quarter this year, we have seen signs that consumer sentiment has been slowing. In addition, employment conditions have weakened in some parts of the state, and the Victorian economy as a whole is experiencing only slow growth. But agents in key regional centres such as Geelong remain positive. New employment opportunities are arising, and governments are conscious of the need to support the harbour city and other key regional centres. In Bendigo, for instance, projects including the New Bendigo Hospital project are gearing up. There has also been a decline in the Australian dollar in recent months, which has been welcomed, helping to make Victorias export businesses more competitive. The impact of the low interest rates throughout 2013 took some time to ow through to the market with growth in both Melbourne and regional house prices only taking place in the nal few months of last year. In Melbourne it is the middle and outer suburbs which showed the greatest growth in the nal quarter of 2013. As the city spread continues, more commuters are considering regional centres such as Geelong and Bendigo, and towns along the rail links, as an affordable and highly viable housing option. The Reserve Bank decision will clearly be a great help to buyers in the rst quarter of this year and we hope that the banks will respect this decision and help buyers by either reducing interest rates or keeping their rates on hold.

CAR RV memory TRUCKisTYRES How much enough? The more RAM the better performance. It pays to have SPECIALIST BALANCING as much RAM as your computer can cope with. All computers ship with a specied amount of RAM, and most BATTERIES & ALIGNMENT mother boards have extra capacity to install additional
RAM. Even new computers can take extra RAM

Your computer uses Random Access Memory (RAM) to hold program code and process instructions that you give your software when computing. When you turn your computer off, RAM loses the data that was used during the computing session. When you restart your computer the data from the operating system and the programs you start is once again loaded into the computers RAM. Lord Street Division 1 had a disappointing reality check, losing to Kyneton by 22 shots. Alan Maher and Justin Webster both won their rinks, 29-19 and 21-20 respectively, but it wasnt enough as Dylan Filuk lost 12-35 and Amy Gloury 21-31. Next week the Division 1 team will play at Kyneton, once more facing minor premiers Lanceeld. Division 2 had a magnicent three rink win against the top side Kyneton, yet it wasnt enough to see them into the nals, falling less than half a game short. Division 3 capped off an infallible home and away season with another comprehensive victory. With an unblemished record they go into the nals a raging favourite, but have to rst knock over Kyneton Red at Romsey.
