ORGANIZATION OF HUMAN SERVICES AT VILLANOVA UNIVERSITY

OHS

WHAT WE DO...
OHS strives to help members establish a well balanced sense of career opportunities and different aspects of the Human Service field. As a member of OHS, you will hear various speakers discussing topics such as social work, mental health, and human resource. You will also partake in exciting and rewarding volunteer activities and monthly meetings in which all members have the opportunity to voice their thoughts and ideas. If you are a Human Service Major, becoming a member of OHS fulfills one of the eligibility criteria towards becoming a member of the National Honor Society for Human Services, Alpha Delta Omega. The Organization of Human Services has partnered with the Second Mile to provide its Friend Program here on Villanovas campus. Once per month, at-risk children from surrounding communities will be bussed to campus for an afternoon of activities and mentorship with our student volunteers. These programs will be the building blocks of relationships between these young people and their Villanova partners. Join OHS and become a founding member of this statewide program now being offered in the southeastern region of Pennsylvania, right here at Villanova!!

WHAT IS OHS?
The purpose of OHS, Organization of Human Services, is to experience and gain knowledge of different areas within the Human Service field. In doing so, you will have fun and learn a lot about yourself as you reach out to the Villanova Community and beyond! OHS is tailored to meet the interests of Human Service, Sociology, and Psychology majors and minors. However, we welcome all who are interested in the Human Service field. OHS is a perfect opportunity to get involved on campus, feel great about yourself, and meet other students who share the same interests and values. OHS is a young organization working hard to become more prominent within the Villanova communityand we are getting there fast. You can be a part of our adventure!

The Second Mile, founded in 1977 in State College, Pennsylvania, is a statewide non non-profit organization for children who need additional support and who would benefit from positive human contact. The Second Mile plans, organizes, and offers activities and programs for children children and adults who work with them them to promote self self-confidence as well as physical, academic, and personal success.
