The Graduate Research Project (GRP) This manual is intended to provide broad guidelines to the MBA students in the preparation of the GRP The GRP is an integral part of the postgraduate studies at Pokhara University A student is re!uired to undertake a research pro"ect on the approved topic# and gather information on the assigned topic using relevant instruments The data thus gathered $ill have to be tabulated# analy%ed# synthesi%ed# and presented in the prescribed format After data analysis# the student has to $rite a research report and submit it for evaluation The GRP involves conceptuali%ing# planning# implementing# and $riting up a report# $hich e&tends kno$ledge in the sub"ect area under investigation This assignment thus aims to develop kno$ledge# skills and attitudes necessary for conduct of individual research at a level $hich $ill make a distinct contribution to kno$ledge A student is e&pected to demonstrate the use of appropriate research# methodology# and $ritten skills through the preparation and presentation of a substantial investigation Activities Involved in a GRP The follo$ing activities are involved in a GRP' Selecting a relevant topic or issue for study (ocating the relevant literature (ocating the sources of information )&tracting the relevant information from these sources *dentifying the various dimensions of the problem or issue +rgani%ing and analy%ing the data effectively ,ra$ing inferences and conclusions -riting a report

Study Requirements The GRP shall comply $ith follo$ing re!uirements' The proposed field of study or topic of research must be approved by the instructor The $ork must relate to the topic approved by the instructor The $ork must comply $ith any limits imposed by the instructor The $ork in a pro"ect must reach a satisfactory standard of e&pression and presentation The student must maintain close and regular contact $ith the instructor and the supervisors .if any/

Reporting Requirements A student shall prepare the GRP embodying the results of the research The report submitted by the student shall' Be an accurate account of research Be an account of a student0s o$n research Relate to the approved research topic 1ot include $ork $hich has been submitted for any other academic a$ard Be $ritten in )nglish Achieve a satisfactory standard of e&pression and presentation Ackno$ledge any substantial assistance provided to the student during the conduct of the research and $riting the GRP 2onform to the rules and format for the presentation of the GRP

Length o the GRP The length for a GRP shall be around 34#555 6 75#555 $ords This length is e&clusive of the materials included in appendices !ultiple "opies Required Three copies of the GRP shall be presented to Pokhara University in a form $hich complies $ith the reporting styles and formats given belo$ The duplicate copies of the original are to be produced using a method $hich gives a clear and permanent copy .offset print# dry photocopy# or laser copy/ The use of spirit duplication# $et photography# or carbon copy is not accepted Typing# Layout# $diting and %inding

The GRP shall be a typescript paper document *t shall not be submitted in an electronic format The GRP is to be typed on *S+ A8 si%e $hite bond paper *f diagrams# maps# tables and similar presentations do not fit readily on this sheet si%e# *S+ B8 si%e may be used B8 si%e pages are to be folded and bound so as to open out at the top and the right Typing is to be done on one side of each sheet only# $ith pages numbered consecutively throughout the report The follo$ing minimal margins are to be observed' (eft' 8 cm Top 7 9 cm Bottom 7 cm Right 7 cm Typing is to be spaced :space;and;a;half< $ith the e&ception of !uotation# footnotes and bibliographies $hich are to be single spaced All pages are single sided There is no blank line bet$een a section heading and the te&t that follo$s it School of Business# Pokhara University e&pects a high standard of editing of the $ork submitted to it for e&amination Any easily readable font is acceptable The font should be 35 points Generally the same font must be used throughout# e&cept chapter titles and section headings# tables and graphs $&amination o the GRP The GRP shall be evaluated by one e&ternal e&aminer# appointed by the ,ean# Pokhara University The )valuation criteria $ill as mentioned in the syllabus
