#195 Stackpole Pullover

Designed by Melissa Morgan-Oakes

Sleeves: One sleeve is worked in main color only. The other is worked in alternating stripes of main and contrasting color. Follow directions for sleeves below, on one sleeve alternating colors after every 5th row, while working the other sleeve all in main color. You may prefer to work both sleeves at one time to ensure they are exactly the same length when completed. For both sleeves, with main color cast on 26[28,30,32,34] stitches and work in K1,P1 rib for 8 rows. On next row, working in st st, increase 2[4,6,6,6] stitches evenly across. For striped sleeve, begin at this point changing colors after every fifth row, while incorporating sleeve increases as below: Increase at both ends every 3rd[3rd.3rd.4th.4th] row 8[8,8,9,10] times (44[48,52,56,60] stitches). Work in st st until sleeve measures 7[8.5,9.5,10.5,12] inches, maintaining stripe pattern for one sleeve. Bind off all stitches. Finishing: Create neck band by picking up and knitting around neck opening as follows: beginning with right side facing at right shoulder, pick and knit 18[22,22,24,24]sts across back neck, 13[13,14,16,16] sts down left shoulder, 12[12,14,16,16] sts across front, and 13[13,14,16,16] sts across right shoulder. (56 [60,64,72,72] stitches) work in knit 2, purl 2 rib for 8 rounds. Bind off loosely in rib. Using mattress stitch for all finishing, sew shoulder seams. Attach sleeves to body. Sew side seams. Run in all ends, wash and block sweater to measurements.
