13 Dec 2010 UMSC Chooses FiSiCien Hospital Information System To Boost Operational Excellence

Petaling Jaya, 13 December 2010 University of Malaya Specialist Center (UMSC) has chosen FiSiCien for its Hospital Information System that sets to boost the hospitals operational excellence and give more data insights that will support management decision-making. Located along Jalan Universiti in Petaling Jaya, UMSC is a private specialist center wholly-owned by the University of Malaya. The hospital serves an average of 60,000 patients each year.

The hospital has signed a RM 6 million agreement with Strateq Health Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Kompakar eHealth Sdn Bhd), a leading healthcare technology leader, to implement a complete Hospital Information System that will transform the hospitals operation and patient care quality.

Commenting on the implementation of FiSiCien, Professor Dato Dr. Mohd Amin Jalaludin, CEO of UMSC said, UMSC has embarked on a journey to transform and automate the hospitals frontline, clinical and backend processes in order to improve the hospitals continuum of care. We needed a new web-based system to replace the traditional paper-based approach, to improve the workflow from point of care to billing, backend support and management.

He added, the implementation of a new, complete Hospital Information System, will also be the building blocks for UMSCs long-term transformation project.

We believe a reliable, scalable FiSiCien Hospital Information System, will give us an edge in better positioning UMSC as a premier private specialist hospital providing a comprehensive range of specialties, said Professor Dato Dr Mohd Amin.

We believe the implementation of FiSiCien will not only help us streamline all administration process, but also allow the management to have greater insights to the hospital data that will support decision-making in transforming UMSC into a truly premier private specialist center. Dr Goh Hsien Ming, UMSCs Medical Director explained during a signing ceremony to mark the partnership between UMSC and Strateq Health. UMSC expects the new Hospital Information System to promote seamless data sharing between the different hospitals departments and to bring about better patient care and workflow management.

Dr Goh added, the entire project will be implemented in stages from 2010 to 2012. First phase of the project is expected to go live in June 2011, involving key functions such as patient management, queue management, bed management and billing system.

The second phase which involves clinical management is expected to be completed by February 2012 while the Electronic Medical Records will come in sometime end of 2012. Developed by Strateq Health Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Kompakar eHealth Sdn Bhd), FiSiCien is a total hospital information system designed to empower healthcare professionals by automating workflow and processes across the hospitals continuum of care.
