They travelled for #iles to see baby Jesus and brought hi# the gifts of gold$ fran%incense and #yrrh. Known as the "agi &scholars$ priests or astrologers'$ these three #en were first #entioned in the New Testa#ent as the (wise #en fro# the East(.

They followed the divine star that led the# to the child Jesus to worship the "essiah and brought gifts for hi#. )ince$ these #en were fro# different cultures and bore rich gifts that were laden on #any ca#els$ they caused *uite a stir in Jerusale# and were highly regarded. They ca#e in*uiring about the newborn (King of the Jews(. !hat #ade their arrival even stranger was that co#ing of the foreign %ings and gentiles bearing gifts of gold and fran%incense for the pro#ised "essiah was foretold in the scriptures.

The "agi who were being led by the divine star followed ,erod(s directions and the Christ#as )tar and reached /ethlehe#. There$ they found 0irgin "ary$ Joseph and the /aby Jesus in a lowly stable. They worshipped the Child and gave ,i# the gifts of gold$ fran%incense and #yrrh. +s they fell asleep that night$ they were warned in the drea# not to go bac% to Jerusale# and King ,erod. )i#ilarly$ Joseph and "ary were as%ed to leave /ethlehe# i##ediately with the ,oly Child until ,erod dies.
