Know Your COSEC PANEL

The COSEC PANEL supports the following options: 1 Ethernet communication port 1 RS485 communication port 5 LEDs. (Fault, Battery Fail, Mains Fail, Alarm, Power) 1 Aux Output port 1 Aux Input port

The COSEC PANEL Lite model supports only 3 LEDs as compared to 5 on the PANEL. The COSEC PANEL communicates with the central COSEC application software and the connectivity with the application server is accomplished via TCP/IP network connection. Another key feature of the Matrix COSEC PANEL is its completely distributed database. All information regarding cards, time zones, relay control and alarm points are loaded into its memory, enabling the unit to operate independently of any other equipment. The PANEL in turn connects downstream to COSEC DOOR Controllers via the RS485 loop or the TCP/IP network as shown in the figures below. The COSEC PANEL is designed to operate off-line, making access control decisions independently from a PC or other controlling device. Various Network Topologies: All PANEL DOORs (up to 32) connected to a PANEL on a RS-485 Loop.

telephone equipment or lines, and at a minimum of 8 meters (25 feet) from any transmitting equipment. Review the COSEC PANEL layout, cable runs, and power needs. Mount the enclosure at the proper location on the wall. Use appropriate anchors for the mounting material. Run all I/O wires to the enclosure, and properly mark each wire for its use. The PANEL comes with a 8 port terminal strip to connect the I/O and the RS485 communication cables.

Connect the RJ45 connector of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port located next to the 8 port terminal on the PANEL and in the case of the PANEL Lite on the face of the enclosure as shown.

To connect the wires to the ports: Strip off about half a centimeter of the insulation of the wire ends. Push back the orange/black levers of the connector of appropriate port, using a blunt pin or a small flat screw driver. Insert the stripped ends of the wires into the openings of the connector, with one wire in each opening. Release pressure on the levers. The wires will be held in place by spring clamp action

The COSEC PANEL enclosure has a knockout for routing the I/O and the communication cables coming into the enclosure. This knockout is located on the lower face of the PANEL enclosure. Step 3: Power Supply The PANEL operates on DC input power. The AC input to the Universal Power Supply board can be 90-285VAC@50- 60Hz. The PANEL enclosure comes equipped with a prewired plug having a third Ground pin, which fits only into a grounding type outlet. It is advisable to route the power supply from the mains through a Constant Voltage Transformer (CVT). When there is sufficient AC power, the power-on LED illuminates. If the AC power is off, the LED is not illuminated. The Panel Lite comes with a 12VDC adapter which can be directly plugged into the power jack provided on the PANEL Lite enclosure. Power should only be applied to the unit when all connections are completed and tested.

To remove the wires, a. push back the levers. b. pull out the wires gently. c. release pressure on the levers.

Battery One 12 VDC, 7 A-Hr sealed lead-acid battery provides standby backup power. This option is not available with the PANEL Lite. When the primary power is off, the COSEC PANEL automatically switches to the battery for continuous operation. The
