Biomedical Engineering (bioelectric) # Modeling and simulation of Laser-Induced Thermo Therapy (LITT) in
human tissue using finite and boundary element methods
Simulations of hyperthermia and coagulations during laser irradiation in LITT using Finite Element and Boundary Element Methods 2010-2012

# Human Tracking, Identification and Aiding System

(in collaboration with the Trauma Research Center in Baqiyatallah Hospital and University of Medical Sciences)
I designed, implemented and tested a system to track individuals in hospitals, extreme environments, e.g., soldiers in the battlefield or athletes in the mountains and for the purposes of tracking and telemedicine. The system facilitates the process of automatic tracking and helping the individual when needed. It comprises a small tracking unit (that is worn by individuals using GPS as tracking module) and a base station to receive transmitted data. 2011 - Present

# MRI/PET scanners
Performed extensive research and investigations on the possibility of implementing an MRI/PET scanner. Several feasibility issues were considered and different approaches were compared. Fall 2010

# EMI and RF shielding

(in collaboration with the Aja University of Medical Sciences)

EMI and RF shielding for electronic devices specially in medical instruments and vital devices.

2013 Present

# Digital image processing and classification

I worked on filtering, processing, classifying, and segmentation algorithms over a dataset of natural images. I also worked on pattern recognition and image compression techniques.

Spring and Summer 2010 Summer and Fall 2010

# Applications of thermal energy harvesting from human skin

Design and simulation of electronic circuits (with Orcad, Matlab) to harvest energy from human skin, with possible applications to energize small medical devices like pulse oximeters.

# Modeling human circulatory system with a left ventricular assist device

Modeling the human circulatory system and the use and control of ventricular assist device (using Matlab).

Spring 2010

# Optical sensors and their use in measuring human skin characteristics

Extensive research experience on optical sensors and how to improve their applications and their accuracy in measuring human skin characteristics

Fall 2010

Others # Applications of neural networks in detecting computer worms

I implemented a well-known artificial neural network (?) to detect computer worms & malware. I created my own database of worms and studied the performance on a small computer network. Fall and Winter 2009
