Hi Thankyou very much for this videos, I practice whit these three times per week to improve me English. One Question: in 3:09 minute, I understand Ashlie say "why", but in transcript is right.

Hi Ariamlope, It's great that you're listening to carefully! It does sound a little like 'why' because we often hardly say the 't' sound at the end of 'right', so I can understand why you think you hear 'why'. However, having listened to it carefully myself several times I think Ashlie does in fact say 'right', so the transcript is correct. Best wishes, Peter The LearnEnglish Team

The episode is great, but can anyone explain me the difference in meaning for: * what have you done with this chair? * what did you do to this chair? and similarly, what the diff btw: * look, what I've done with this chair * look, what I did with this chair ?

Hello alexeybandura75, I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, and thank you for your question. The answer is that it depends on the context. Usually, we would use the present perfect ('What have you done...') when there is no concrete time reference (so we don't say when it was done) it has only just happened (you watched as somebody broke the chair) there is some clear present result (perhaps the chair is broken) We would use the past simple ('What did you do...') when there is a clear time reference (this morning, last week, yesterday) you are interested in the action, not so much the result of that action As you can see, it very much depends on the context. In the video, Ashlie says 'What have you done to my chair?' because she has only just seen it and the result is what she is interested in: '...it didn't look like this before, what have you done?' You can find more on when to use the present perfect and when to use the past simple here (http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/englishgrammar/verbs/talking-about-past).

Hm, it's an interesting tradition to give housewarming gifts, I have never heard about this before. In Russia there is no custom like this, but instead of gifts people used to have a superstition that when they move into the flat the should let a cat in first, then other people can walk in. It could be explained in different ways, some people say it is because cat can make a house spirit kinder, others say that the cat is a house spirit himself.
